One little performance tip: After adding the Subdivision Modifier to your mesh, set the Viewport and Render levels to "0" *before* turning on Adaptive Subdivision - otherwise, you will be "stacking" dicing and it can chew through RAM and processing power really quickly. I've found this to dramatically increase viewport and render performance and reduce RAM usage. It's an easy thing to overlook.
I came here to learn how to use displacements maps but also learned how to quickly merge the vertices without having to redo the whole mesh. Incredibly useful, Thank you!
In 5 minutes you explained how to use displacement and how to mix textures and their attributes. I looked at so many videos and none of them was crystal clear as you. Many thanks!
Great video. When i apply this on a fireplace and chimney design, i cannot get it to work. Just a single displacement isn't doing anything. I can't figure why. Any tips?
If you use adaptive subdivision, make sure to use cycles experimental as well as the subdivision modifier with adaptive subdivision enabled, I have a newer video here ruclips.net/video/YHleZrLFTnk/видео.html
Ty, this tutorial was really awesome. Can someone help me? In blender 4.0 there is no more "Surface" and "Displacement" settings in material config. How can I change the displacement method on Blender 4.0?
Hey I found the solution. Its cause we can't change displacement method on EEVEE, only on Cycles. Changing the render to Cycles I am now able to find "Surface" and "Displacement" on material configuration. I'll keep my comment in case anyone is looking for the same question
Hi ! Thanks for the video and congrats for the work ! I have a question.. I have already set up the height displacement, it works perfectly in the view, but I dont know why is not working when I render the sequence with ''F12'' . I have already seen several vídeos and websites to be sure every option is properly worked, still not working.. any ideas ? Thanks again, have a nice day guys !
@@chuckcg thanks for your answer ! I have been busy last days I couldnt check it, this week I will try to check the project again to see if I can fix it with your answer. If not, I will probably come back here to cry again ! 😅🙏👍
@@chuckcg I was able to take a look at the project, thanks to your answer I could see that the problem was that the number of subdivisions was very low, by increasing it the surface is perfect in the render as well. I just wanted to thank you, I wouldn't have realized it if it weren't for your response! ;)
thanks for your effort dear but i wanna ask you. after cutting by knife how can i scape from knife so i can proceed to select faces and continue because when i press ESC it cancel all the cuts i made by knife i dont know how to scape the knife and keep cuts .. thanks

Glad it was helpful!
Good morning ! excellent ! explained clearly and simply! fun to watch and play! THANKS
Glad you find it helpful!
As always, terrific straightforward tutorial, muchas gracias amigo
Thank you, glad to hear it, Gracias por comentar amigo.
Thanks a lot. I've learned very much with your explanaitions. Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia!
Que bueno que te sirvio, Saludos desde Mexico.
Great tutorial, straight on point, relaxed without ads. You did a superb job and content. THANK YOU!
THank you. Really helpful!
Merci beaucoup pour ce tuto vite fait, bien fait
Thank you so much
Nice tutorial, would be amazing if this can be exported for Unreal baking the displacement map or something
Unfortunately this is only a cycles effect there's no real geometry, anyway in unreal we can use megascans for free.
You just gained a sub from this vid bro! Keep going!
love for you man so easy to follow
thank you very much, very useful
thank you!
beautiful tips
Very well done man
Thanks!
Thanks! But I always have the issue that on the edges of my objects the displacment stretches the textures and it looks super ugly. What can I do?
You can try to adjust the midlevel and scale in the displacement node, or try to bevel de edges
@@chuckcg Thanks! I did not think about beveling. But I guess this should help. Let‘s see. :)

Make sure the modifier is enabled for render, in the modifiers tab you will find the icon as a little camera.

After cutting all that you want, hit Enter to accept, if you hit escape you are cancelling cutting.
WOW
adaptive subdivision is not working in render why brother??
Are you using cycles? Also you need to change to experimental, make sure to follow all the steps, if you miss something it won't work.
Tried a landscape mod on this and it didn't work
This should work with any displacement map
@@chuckcg i did a UV unwrap and it worked
i used the knife tool and i cant get out of it 😔
Press enter to accept the cut, Escape to cancel or exit the knife tool.
thank you :)
