    I totally agree with your insights. If they would make their lights with a more universal tail cap then they could and would sell a lot more. Because if you have one system for all then you have a game changer.

    • @KevinHamilton-c3u
      @KevinHamilton-c3u 7 месяцев назад

      Also just as a thought that I had while watching this is I like the screw in connector for the like. As you stated it could be mounted on a tripod or something and just left there. As it is magnetic you can just take the light with you. However then you do leave your “charger “ behind in that case and so you then have to have a circular charger for the light at that point.

    • @donaldstrader7241
      @donaldstrader7241 7 месяцев назад

      @@KevinHamilton-c3u I like that you can have the charger cap left on a tripod and just slip the light in and out. I think the point made in the video in that regard is a valid one, why not have essentially the same holster as the Seeker 4 Pro. I don't need a big hole in the bottom of the holster, it is not like I can reverse the light. Then one would have two ways to use a USB C charging cable, and if you had a MCC-3 cable, that would give one a third way to charge the light. Having an option to have a different interchangeable cap is also a good idea. It is possible that all these products are in different development lines and so all innovations from one line do not make it to the other line before introduction. For example, the Seeker 4 side switch would be ideal on the Prowess. I like the Prowess a lot, but I already miss the Seeker 4 side switch AND the choice for a neutral white front output.

    The OS flashlight is best for our purpose & mods application for our gliders. Yes, night gliding is fun & challenging but we mostly use it for rescue applications and the flashlight is a great addition after we butcher it to our specifications. Cheers maestro from Australia.

    I've had the smaller multitool, the Otacle K1 for a few months now. It's the size of a SAK classic keychain tool. It has blade, can/bottle opener w/a flathead tip, scissors & tweezer. It lacks Phillips head, awl, file, etc. But is so compact & has held up very well. Considering the larger model now. Quality is great.

Like the pl mini 1 I had it and switched to a streamlight tlr-7 because I could swap batteries faster than charge the unit. Now they have the pl mini 3 with swappable battery so I’ll try it again. They’re definitely learning and making their products better

    Compact weapon lights might as well be "shoot here" beacons.
    It's worth the weight to get closer to blinding light.
    Also, some amount of flood is necessary to allow lighting up a room with splash while low ready - to avoid potentially flagging a friendly.
    To summarize; you really don't want to walk around pointing a loaded weapon into the darkness with an itty bitty night light under neath it

    I don’t really understand the “pocket clip on the wrong side”. I have the KS2E, and prefer it the way it is; the pocket clip under and between my fingers instead of digging into my palm. Is the problem that if the knife slips out in your pocket, it has free reign on your hip/belly?

    I really like the prowess with the two different modes. Looks like a great option.
    I feel like Olight is so close to having usb-c integration in all of their lights. Like there's a light that literally has a usb-c port in the bottom, they have the capability to do it so why not just use that in every other 21700 flashlight?
    Seems like they're teetering on the edge of usb-c and magnetic charging and aren't sure which side they want to stick with.
    And also, get rid of the proprietary batteries so we can use other batteries if needed.

  • @kurtnufferjr7017
    @kurtnufferjr7017 7 месяцев назад

    With weapon lights, you dont need a straight 20 mins of light at the highest setting. A weapon light is meant to be used periodically to identify targets in low light situations, not to stay constantly on

  • @DukeMan84
    @DukeMan84 7 месяцев назад

    I think one of the advantages of a rifle light over a pistol light is that you can mount the light further out of the way and put the tape switch where you can access it without adjusting your grip. I've actually been using a Streamlight TLR1 for years, so it can work with the right design, but some of them can be awkward depending on how the switch is positioned. Another thing I really like about the new Odin is the dual-fuel capability. I absolutely hate the idea of a weapon light with a built-in or proprietary battery. You should aways have the option to throw in a readily available battery if it dies on you unexpectedly. I also like that they're potting their electronics now. I can't believe they just started doing this.

  • @alanmckean
    @alanmckean 7 месяцев назад

    The Seeker 4 and Seeker 4 Pro tailcaps are not interchangeable. I have both, at least for now. The Seeker 4 tailcap intrudes into the body farther than the Seeker 4 Pro tailcap. When you put the Seeker 4 Pro tailcap on the Seeker 4, the battery does not make connection with the tailcap, it rattles around in the body and the flashlight wont turn on. Likewise, the Seeker 4 tailcap won’t even screw on to the Seeker 4 Pro because it can’t go into the body far enough to meet the threads on the body. Another missed opportunity. What were they thinking?

    Olight lost me as customr when they went for proprietary charging solutions rather than Type C. And type c as an afterthought is not good enoughl It should be on the light itself. I have USB chargers with me and I really do not appreciate the need to carry extra cables of adapters or charging cradles or something like this. An USB-C charging today usually means that it can act as powerbank if needed to charge other devices or use a power bacnk to extend the runtime of the light. USB-C makes so many devices integrate well with each other. Innovation I am looking for would be making the USB-port well protected against dirt and water.
    Also very useful features on flashlights would be the 1/4 inch screw in socket and potentially magnets to attch the light to something.
