  • It's a tough segment and the Honda Civic hatchback is a great car if a little weird looking. The saloon doesn't move things along but it's good to have choices right?

    Hi Bob Just got my new Motability car.A seat Leon st auto.The best Auto box I have had.This is my five car and the very very best
    What a great car.

      I've not long got an lean St FR. It's a great car. Though I do think Peugeot does a better gear box. And I'm a DSG fan.
      I took a 306 (iirc) golf sized thing out, basically cos I was bored. It was a 3cyl jobbie, so nothing special, 1st I was amazed how nice inside it was, but 2nd and mostly, that auto box was amazing.
      Not enough for me to choose a pug over the Leon estate, differnt cars etc.. But if I wasn't totally against SUVs it may of encouraged me to get a 3008 gt line. A very nice car. (hate that I'm even saying that lol).
      But as you say the DSG (nines a 7 speed) is very nice, and a mile more responsive than the one that was iny old GTC. Shame the Leon can't cling to the road like the gtc could. I have a few roads I drive often, and I've noticed the odd bend that was full pelt and ever gaining speed, I need to be a bit more patient a an d feather the go peddle in.
      The the gtc was set up to go quick, the Leon far more sensible all rounder. The last sentence makes me feel old. I do like the Leon ST FR 190 very much. My wallet not so much, at 350 miles to a tank! Though I did drive across Wales quite spirited in both directions this week. She can't half pick up when you need to overtake safely.

    I don’t know about other people prefer the hatch

    Its a much more conservative looking version of the hatch, is this made in the U.S bob it looks like it was designed for them.

      It drives like a US car too, lazy. The hatch is a much better drive.

      We have the Fit here (Jazz) and that's the only hatch Honda available.
      And yes our cars are very boring , I'm in Canada and althought our market is different ( I was able to buy a manual Subaru Legacy 2017 which wasn't available in the US ) even the most dedicated manufacturer just gave up and sell us the same boring cars that the US have. The manual Legacy was discontinued in 2018 in Canada.
      I drove the hatch version of the Civic in Scotland years ago and it was a revelation, it got me back to those little Civic Si we had in the 80's here, before they all decided to 'tune to the american market'
      Our hatchbacks are almost all but gone, our sedans are disappearing faster than we can keep track off.
      Nothing but big , bulky , numb SUVs with automatics
      Can't even get an estate without 'oh look at me, I drive gravel roads' suspension, the Golf estate is the only on left , you can't even get an Audi estate here except the A3 e-tron
      Treasure the choice in cars that you have mates
      Cheers

    Ray
    I have the new hatchback which I think looks better.The saloon has been out in the US since launch and they have only just got the hatchback! Loads of te c
    as standard on the SR trim and above here in Britain

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  5 лет назад

      Saloons don't sell well in Britain there's not much call for them. It's hatchbacks that do well there that's why Honda launched them the other way around.

    Did you try the lane keeping assist with active cruise does it not sort of self drive like the Volvo Pilot Assist?

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  5 лет назад +1

      Look up level 2 autonomous driving because it's that. Level 3 can change lanes for you and level 4 can be used with no hands on motorways.

    I have a new leon, it's easy to jump from android auto to radio. However as I set up AA, I can't figure out how to use mirror link, with out un syncing my phone and re adding. Pita.

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  5 лет назад

      Mirror link it terrible, it always has been. Apple is easy and Google is just as easy.

    • @StephenButlerOne

      @@BobFlavinVideo yes, what I wanted to try was playing a video (this one in fact) in my cars screen, while waiting in the car for my wife. In the end I gave up and just watched in my phone.
      I wish you coudl use video apps on Android auto while the handbreak is on. It would be perfect them.
      Asva dad of teens, I spend many hours outside music venues waiting. Or in shopping car parks waiting on the wife. If I could get midea in the screen I'd be happy. Apparently older version of AA can be made to do it, but it means rolling your phones AA and (and this is the issue for me) roll back Google play services. They would open up my phone to verious threats. So I thought I'd try mirror link.
      I think I can re set up the phone /car sync, and get the car to ask me eadh time. Though that would get old fast, and I still don't know if it would work.
      After Xmas, I'll end up with Atleast one redundant kids phone. So I'll try with that. Then make a final decision on if I'll but aa and ml on a toggle. Or just use the phone.
      I did find the hauwei P20 Pro, fits perfectly in the gap. It friction fits in the correct position,where the wireless charger lives, flush with the rest of the console. so that's a decent work around for now and probably ever.

    One min in, it's so much more grown up looking. I'd love a type R, but it would embarrass me on the drive.
    Is that mays army putting up her 'transparent boarder' ?

      It's a car for golfists, that boot could carry four sets easy

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne 5 лет назад

      @@BobFlavinVideo I'm yet to invest in any golf bat's. But I'm sure my new Leon st could fit ten sets in.
      Seen the new skoda superb sport (like the red line, but now in any colour), you could fit the golf cart in that boot. It's sooooooo good looking too. Stupidly good looking, defo shedding the superbs cardigan off.

    Bad infotainment is a dealbreaker. After using the new VAG, merc and bmw systems, I would struggle to use anything other than iDrive. It’s the easiest to use, and the least gimmicky (I’m looking at you, unnecessarily over-complicated digital cockpits)

    Forget the saloon, I'd never buy one. Where's the estate version? Honda have appeared to desert those of us who want an estate

    • @ronniebrown6225
      @ronniebrown6225 5 лет назад

      NO estate version because the Civic Tourer (estate) sold very poorly so they dropped it

    Honda and Toyota have really gone downhill with their designs recently. Mazda and the Koreans seem to be producing the best cars coming out of the Far East right now
