Great video! I do have a question in regards to courses and training. I'm seriously considering to give gas engineering a go but I'm unsure on what course to take to get started. I think a course could help me figure out of I like this area too. Thanks again for the video Allen!
Hey mate really like your video’s 😊 Would you recommend me any college or course centres please? I’m over 38years old!😢 so won’t be able to get into apprenticeship’s!😢 Is fast track course for 3 to 6 months will set me towards the right path? Many thanks 🙏🏽
Hi Allen/Heatable Team, Really enjoyed this video. Had questions to ask 1. How long on average would it take a brand new person to become a gas engineer? Ive left the office life ( hate it lol) Time for a trade to actually help people. 2. This may be a silly question but is it too late for a career change? im 31 almost 32 but the industry seems really promising in terms of high salary ( i see alot of 45-60k jobs) and super high demand. 3. Most important skills to be successful as a gas engineer? in your opinion 4. last question ( defo a silly one lo) most gas engineers use company vans, do they use the vans with them over weekend and use for personal trips?
Hi, glad you loved the video! To answer your questions... 1. It depends on the pathway you go down but there are now fast track courses such as the VIVA Training Academy one which is 16 weeks. 2. It’s never too late to try something new. What’s that saying again… you'll never know until you’ve tried? 3. Where do we even start with that one, people skills are definitely important, as well as problem solving skills, but there’s a lot more that might be useful to have. 4. All of our gas engineers are self employed so they have their own vans that they use for work and in their personal lives. We can’t really comment on company vans and what they let their engineers do!
Hi Allen ,,,I am HVAC engineer,,,,but other day I saw engineer replace the housing boiler,,,, I find it interested, the trade,,,how can I star to become boiler install ,,,do I need it to take any training course,,,,,? Can you give me some advise please ,,,much appreciated,,,,but away,,,you brilliant,,,,mate
I was 31 when I started plumbing. Nearly 45 when I took my ACS gas. But it's not about age. Less obviously, how's your driving? There's a lot of driving involved, from job to job! Parking isn't always easy! Finding addresses might not be easy. You are unlikely to get hands on gas experience, but you might get unpaid plumbing experience. Try that. You can learn masses, find out masses from the multitude of online videos. Watch AH and learn from him. Learn to "gas rate" appliances, learn about unsafe appliances, pipe sizing etc.
As usual words of wisdom with experience well done again Allen. 👍
I’m 44, retired from the military. I’m going to do this. Fk being a wage slave in civvie street.
Can you do a video on tools to start out?
We'll definitely be doing one on tools in the near future!
Great video!
