      @@legendariodragon0 the fact thier father isolated them from the outside world for 14yrs maybe? so they never got to grow up in a normal enviroment as in school , meeting other kids ect ect ..its basicaly called false imprisonment! thats what @18pepinemi was refering too .....BUt as they also said they had each other and and did what they did with renacting the movies and it kept thier sanity ect and turned out at the end of it all to be well adjusted and poilte boys given the circumstances! ...although they prob will have some trauma /scars ect but it's their camoradarie as brothers and coping with the situation in the best way they knew how that has seen them through it all!

      Not so sure about the saving life thing. Seems they were in no physical danger. As for him being intelligent, it took him around 17-18 years to figure out he does not need to be in a box while other people move around freely outside. That does not sound very Intelligent to me. I am sure if the father was more resourceful he could have kept them there until his death.

So you don’t know how their dad treated them if they tried to do anything like that. I have gone through something similar. So unless you go through it yourself you unfortunately are not going to understand the fear and guts it takes to get away from someone who kept you isolated.     I work in customer service and I have to say these young men seem to be a billion times more polite, sociable and friendly than 99% of my customers. I have to commend them for getting through that with their sanity, not just getting through it but becoming good people too

      It would mostly be fear. If you watch another documentary or a movie like "Room", you might understand a bit better.
      They were taught to live like this from birth. Maybe they grew up believing there was something wrong with them or the outside world. Maybe one tried to escape before and they were severely beaten.
      It's kind of like asking "why didn't she leave?" when a woman is in a domestic violence situation. They are brainwashed into thinking staying is the right thing to do, that nobody but the person trapping them cares about them etc.

    This so called damaged, isolated, abused, confined group of brothers is easily more sophisticated, creative, polite, intelligent, friendly, and kind than any group of normal, socialized, schooled, and woke kids their age. Do you think that the neighbors wouldn't have heard a woman giving birth, then babies crying, children playing ...and never seeing them, not becoming suspicious? How did they instill fear into those children without it being heard through the walls?
      What they didn't cover is how those boys learned to read and write. Did their mom homeschool them? It's possible, but with all the fear they supposedly lived under, how did they accomplish homeschooling? It just doesn't make sense.

    This is both awesome and really sad at the same time. I grew up in a very strict Christian household, I was homeschooled and didn’t really have connections with the outside world. I can’t help but empathize. The creativity they’ve harnessed is great but this is actually child abuse and it’s so difficult to incorporate yourself into society after living such a hindered life. The fact that he found being in a psych ward a positive experience simply because he had social interaction opportunities for the first time ever…
