Un-synchronized, straight cut H-pattern box... Very challenging gearbox which requires user-awareness of engine, transmission, and differential speeds at all times. This guy is doing a fine job at driving it. I've seen lots of videos of clueless collectors driving these who clearly don't know how the gearbox works at all or even understand how manual rev-matching works.

There is'nt comparation with the Laffite '92 test. Still here is the best car and ebgine ever, but went Laffite try the LM, in my opinion the engine set up was mapped at the top power: 900 hp. And is incredible how 180 horses, do the difference. For sure this driver would'nt to be compared with a F1 driver, but that video is very extraordinary. Also because is possible understund what such of means are the F1 or in any case, the prof. drivers. This one, i don't understand why, move the steering during the corners also at low speed, was be at thelimits. And don't try to do the hell toe, on gears downshift.

@@impossibru5721 The F40 LM is a pure racecar. The GT2 RS MR is a road car. So it's possible that the F40 is faster. Besides, the F40 is mid engine, therefore, the center of mass has better location than the GT2 RS which has the engine in the back.

Driving with a gated shifter is difficult let alone with a dog box, I think the driving is OK. Ive been in a few cars with straight cut gears and the shifts can be brutal if the timing is off alittle bit. Its not like on my motorcycle or dirtbikes where I can shift fairly smoothly without the cluch all the time, its harder in a car IMO.. let alone an old Ferrari with a gated shifter that you don't drive all the time.

Maybe if you guys actually looked at the BIG WHITE BALL at the end of the gear stick & followed it down to the gear box. You would notice there's no reverse (you may of seen at the beginning of the vid but not thought much of it) so due to no reverse they have placed 1st gear where 2nd would be. So you try driving an F40, fast & smoothly with the gears all back to front..like to see you come out the first corner. Awesome driving skills & hitting the limiter in 5th on a track in a F40 epic drivin

    Hi Jason
Good Vid but an FYI . Set GoPro to SPt . Spot meter is primarily for shooting from inside of a car or other dark space looking out into a brighter outside setting. Spot meter adjusts the exposure for the absolute center of the scene, for example the road ahead instead of the interior of the car. If you are wanting optimum exposure of the inside of the car, filming mainly the driver for example, choose Cnt center weighted average to expose for the inside of the car.

The Bugatti's not the same thing. It's a plushy alcove allowing to travel at enormously high speeds in comfort. It's not even a sports car. It's just a very fast car, and don't get me wrong, I love the Veyron as any other gearhead, but it's not the same thing.
The F40 LM (and by extension, the latter GT/E) was the baddest and meanest motherfucker in its business, and its business was winning GT races. It's cramped and hot as hell and requires nerves of steel just to turn the ignition keys on.

With all respect to Veyron as an engineering feat, the sensation is all too different.
Veyron gets away with all the electronic gubbins, 4WD, anti-lag for its turbo, and all the technological fripperies...
This F40... Have you ever heard on how laggy the turbo in this car?! Imagine tackling a tight turn, no throttle response, and in mid-corner... BANG!
I bet you're doing that in real life, you'll be dead--Oh, wait, IT'S A NEED FOR SPEED FOR YOU!

It´s faster without clutch!? That´s new or a lye my friend
Those are special gearboes that don´t need clutch to go up or down, if u do a research on youtube you will find a onboard video of colin mcrae with the subaru 22B Wrc(2door version) and it has the same kind of gearbox.
Now with using a normal gearbox without clutch is faster u must be dreaming

If you had something called sense then you could tell this is a H pattern box not sequential. On cars without computers you can upshift without the clutch but you need to get the rpm right. group b Audi quattro's used to have a button on the gearknob to short circuit the ignition to make this easier.

@joao625 its not a lie, its literally called clutchless shifting. Those tranny's your talking about have helical cut gears thats allow it to disengage and engage w/i the clutch exept from a start. They also need to use the clutch on downshifts with those gearboxes.

It is a Dog Box with straight cut gears thats why you hear that high pitch squeal. In a dog box you can only upshift without the clutch. They are great but you must be very good at heel/toe shifting because these transmissions MUST be rev matched on downshifts. You will snap the input shaft if you dont.

I see you don't drive clutch&gears cars every day (actually I drove automatic only once in my life and it's a shit) like I do or like we do in Europe.
You can try shifting up without the clutch but it's stupid, why should you try to damage your gears?

    What?
Clutch is always used when shifting both up and down, heel-and-toe involves using the brake and the accelerator, it's actually a technique to keep revs up when braking before a corner in the brief moments when the clutch is down for downshifting.

@scaleopdriver Didn't want to go all out? Then why bother going to a track? Also if he's trying to take it easy, why the hell is he destroying the gearbox by attempting to rev match quite unsuccessfully? Oh...that's right...he's a tool bag.

No, it can't, I've been driven in a Veyron. Sure, it's certainly plush, but the power absolutely needs to be handled by someone with understanding of what the car is capable of.
You're speaking completely out of your ass.

Why do you wiggle your steering wheel so much? It doesn't seem like you're responding to either over or under steer. You might actually be encouraging that by offsetting the balance of the car.But overall: Nice!

he don't need to clutch for changing Gears upwards? Like the Alfa Rome 155 DTM Car? I did not know that.
