      @JumpmanTF He does know his stuff and the titles are funny (but they get clicks so I don't see them as really bad). But the one thing I can't really stand with TRP is how he over hypes Collegiate and High School runners, like they are impressive how quick some of them are but at the same time when you act like them running a WL for an event a month before the professional athletes even start their season, it's not as impressive.
      The other thing I can't stand is his coverage of Collegiate and High School XC (this is more of a dig at American XC in general), they are running quick but it isn't proper XC but he acts like them running these times on a XC course is amazing when they are more like road races than XC. The NCAA XC was won in a time 1 minute slower than the NCAA track 10000m record, that shouldn't happen in a XC race. At the World XC championships, Jacob Kiplimo ran 40 seconds slower than the NCAA champion while being a top long distance athlete.

    I'm also wondering how close Femke can get to Sydney. Her big improvement last year was mostly in her flat speed. Obviously she transitioned to 14 paces from 15 to match what Sydney has been doing, but I doubt she gained much from that, because she was still inexperieced at hurdling with her off leg. It remains to be seen how much her flat speed has improved this season, but there's a reasonable chance that she will be able to lose less time over the hurdles. That said 0.77 seconds is still a big gap to make up to reach Sydney and that's assuming Sydney isn't faster than that this year. Hopefully they are both at full health for Paris.

    Thanks for uploading. Very informative! Field and track at this level is unbeatable by any other sport, but ok, my opinion.
    Did you notice the ease with with Femke Bol broke her own WR? Her coach, Laurent Meuwly (chosen as the best athletic coach in 2023!) said she clearly kept something in reserve for Glasgow end of next week. “If things come together, a third brake of her world record is certainly possible. Tests have pointed out, that Femke improved this winter in all aspects: raw speed, endurance and power.”
    Femke herself said, that Paris is the time to step out of her comfort zone. Of course she will run the 400 hurdles at the Olympics. Notice, that her transition to 14 steps between the hurdles was initially meant to fully pay off in Paris.
    Could she beat Sydney McLaughlin Levrone given she as well chooses the hurdles? “I wouldn’t even start if I would think I couldn’t defeat her. But if I loose have given my utmost, I am happy with that.” Earlier she added: “I will stick to my favorite discipline even if that means I will stay second my whole career.”

      @dirkjackson8939 3 месяца назад

      Exactly right. There is a reason why records are being broken during an Olympic year, and its not due to harder training. They are on the correct PED cycle and and these results are occurring like clockwork. The records arent the surprising part, the surprise will be if IAAF is able to catch any of them doping. Athletes are always one step ahead of IAAF. They just slip up once in a while.

    Lots to add here... the women's 100m in Australia was pedestrian and just shows how much wind assistance has on sprinting. with almost maximum legal headwind, Lewis ran 11.10. the week before and then into -1.5 wind she can barely go under 11.40. Holloway DID NOT SMASH the WR. he broke it barely and it was due to being at altititude. the 300m WB doesnt count either.. both were at high altitude and wouldve missed the WR if at low alt. the women's 60m/h WR has been prime for the taking for some time now too. Olyslagers is no where near a shot at the HJ WR.
    the only real news was Cameron Myers.

    What's Sydney M-L's plans for Paris? Is she going to defend her 400 hurdles title, or will it be the flat 400?
    Same questions for Femke Bol.
    It would be great to see that 400m WR finally get beaten, but both women are over a second away from it on current form so it seems unlikely.
    I guess Salwa Eid Naser has to be in the conversation too, although with her recent two year ban there's a few questions there.

      Femke Bol definitely will race the 400H an not dash. Also the 400 relays with her friends and team mates. The hurdles are her favorite discipline and she recently said she would race them always even if that means she would stay second her whole career.
      In combination with all the heats and semi’s a 400 flat is unrealistic. Of course she will incidentally race the 400 flat, however not in big tournaments.
