Standing in the Shadow of Love is an awesome tune. As soon as I saw your comment it brought it back to me. A darn good song. The one you're commenting on now is ok but not one of their best by a long shot.
jayvee that's why they call it soul music back in the day because it had some soul to it you could feel the vibes in it .......I was raised on this kind of wonderful music it never gets old....
My very first gig, Four Tops Newcastle Upon Tyne City Hall 68/69. Crombie, Ben Sherman,Loafers. Happy memories. Levi Stubbs one of music's great voices.
This is like 16 years after Suger pie they had a million great ones underrated group they sang as good as the temps they just didn't have the steps like the Temptations
Go Levi......love love the four tops....my favourite of theirs is.....ask the lonely.....that man can sing 🎵🎶🎶 it’s 2.30 am in the uk and I am dancing round the room😱😱
Once again, I thank you. This was one of my favorites. Hey Jayvee, a little hint, when we played our music, turn it up , but not all the way up. That way when they start their fade you can slowly turn it up so you get the whole thing.
Never ever a bad choice when it comes to the 4t's. Love this song. Wish I could have seen these guys in concert back in the day. Listen to that lead vocal!!! How great is that. Yeah!! I love watching you get so excited to hear these golden gems of musical history. Like that harmonica
I loved him way back then, I love him today. What a voice, what an attitude, and funny in a movie about a man-eating plant named Seymour! ( Little House of Horrors" with Jack Nicholson ) some of the funniest stuff. Yes, Levi..."FEED ME, SEYMOUR!"
I remember being in sixth grade when this came out and being like, "That's THE FOUR TOPS??!!" the first time I heard it. Still love it to this day. In fact, it's probably my fave track by them.
I should send this to my old old boo it brings back good memories. He doesnt call anymore but sends a song when it reminds him of me.Years and miles apart feelings still there.
Suggestion for a future Motown Monday (or anytime): The Isley Brothers "Twist and Shout". Their 1962 version was actually recorded before they were with Motown but has the same vibe and, in my opinion, is the best rendition. The Beatles did a good and more well-known version later but I prefer the more soulful sound of The Isley Brothers.
Wowza. Boy did they stay with the times. Still them, but with a definite 80's flare. From the style of music, to their clothing. They went from classy dress suits to leisure suits Lolol So fun to see this. Just shows true class and style ages like a fine wine, and when you have it you have it
What a fantastic group! I know the song but have not seen seen this video and that was nice to see them “laying it down”. As I typing I see one of my fave’s from Earth, Wind and Fire coming up ( “September- my birthday month). Looking forward to it!
I love it!!! Motown Monday is Tuesday here in Australia... When you get up and dance - can't you just tilt your computer's eye-spy up? You'll be dancing/rocking out with us ❤️
The Motown Sound was done by the funk brothers who played on everyone's albums coming out of Motown and they could get down. They have a video on RUclips that has them jamming in the studio and they where a collection of the most talented musicians on the planet.
Standing in the shadows of love is a good Four Tops song. Also Ain’t no woman.
Based Department yes! Both of those!!
Standing in the Shadow of Love is an awesome tune. As soon as I saw your comment it brought it back to me. A darn good song. The one you're commenting on now is ok but not one of their best by a long shot.
