I was 15 years old when Mike Tyson won WBC Heavyweight title in 1986 at the age of 20 years old. I'm typing this out before the actual reaction video begins..... and as you'll see, it wasn't just Tyson's quickness, but the fact he could rear back and throw a punch with such speed and velocity that it was absolutely devastating. His combination of a hook followed up a split second later by an uppercut was lethal. The man was a concussion causing machine in his prime.... but he always went over to his opponents afterwards to ensure they were okay. The Hollyfield incident kind of shocked everyone, as up until that point, he had never acted like that in the ring. His fall from grace kind of tarnished his legacy a bit, but pound for pound, no other heavyweight in history had his combination of power and velocity. Ali was quicker and faster than Tyson in his prime. Others have thrown harder punches..... but Tyson could land two punches within a second that would literally concuss his opponent and take him out of the fight.
Seriously, when they started showing the fights on pay-per-view, most people I knew wouldn't even pay to see the fight, as most of them were over within minutes. It wasn't worth the money. The news would have the full fight as a highlight later that evening since it was over so quickly.

By the time Tyson bit Holyfield, Mike was a shell of his former self. That was several years after Buster Douglas actually knocked him out...Buster was not a great boxer, good one but he would have been obliterated by Tyson a few years earlier. Tyson became undisciplined in and out of the ring after letting Rooney(Cus D'Amato's protege) go as his manager.

A lot of boxers from that time, before, and now, deal with brain damage/CTE, but a lot of it actually comes from training rather than the fight itself, it’s more about HOW MANY times you get hit good, how many times your brain smacks around in your head over the years, and ofc how hard, but less so. even head gear doesn’t protect from this much at all, the head gear mostly protects from cuts
