Then he'll start talking shit and mom would be shushing him not to speak like that in front of their grandchildren. And you went to live in another city or region and have new friends with different views than people "back home". The stand up bit is specific enough, but also universal enough to be applied elsewhere too.

To be honest I've gotten drunk at home before and went down political rabbit holes or watched lectures/debates. In my experience being drunk by yourself always brings out some kind of extreme that you don't have to hold back because you're not with people. Sometimes it's emotional, sometimes it's creative and sometimes it's intellectual. Sometimes you're drunk and watching a movie or playing an instrument sounds boring, but you can spend hours listening to Noam Chomsky talk about proxy wars and banana republics through some grainy youtube video with bad audio because for some reason that's what your brain wants.

I get splitting it up, but segment it into bits lol. stopping, having a commentary, and then starting up back up mid joke is going to ruin the bit and the reaction. I hope your commentary in between parts is filmed after and the special is done continuously.
