I agree. Multiple seasons of character development and seeing the relationship between Jaimie and Brienne grow...all culminating to this scene, just amazing storytelling really
The fireplace scenes were so amazing, all those people in there sharing a glass of wine, sharing their stories and probably their last moment together. I'm afraid of the next episode 😢
It's was nice but it was a big empty warm hall which was strange considering how many people would be needing a billet in winterfell. Major points for Sansa having her dinner from the communal stew and hanging with the common folk. Same for Lady Mormont.
Seriously, the whole fire place scene was pretty much the best scene in the whole series so far IMO. So much going on. And Briennes knighting was the cherry on top.
Yep, such a beautiful and well executed scene. Everything was spot on. Some little funny moments from tormund or when tyrion gave podrick a full glass of wine, or some more serious scenes like the song or briennes knighting. And the scene is very well storywise to. We see our beloved characters sharing their last moments together and we keep building sympathy to make some of the deaths even harder.
The whole scene with Jaime knighting Brienne has already become one of my favorite scenes of the entire series. Every single aspect is absolute perfection.
Both The Sansa and Theon moments in the beginning of the episode when they reunite and when the song was playing at the end. My god! I went from not caring about Theon, to hating Theon, to being disgusted by Theon, to feeling sad for Theon, to rooting for Theon, to being proud of Theon, to wanting to follow Theon into battle. THAT is how you write a character! Kraken AND Direwolf
I feel that this episode is a goodbye episode to many characters. The scene where Podrick sings is just... I can't even explain, it gives me some feelings I never knew I had... Search for the book "A knight of the Seven Kingdoms". It's about an ancestor of Brienne. That makes the relation between the character and the title a bit more magical.
Lol, iam the only one that thinks the dialogue is getting and is really "shity", dull, boring ... Before i had the felling the dialogue had more impact ... Tyrions is seriously lacking, before it was music, poetry ... Now it sound more like typical Hollywood cliche blablabla Also some of scenes are lacking impact as well... Take only the Arya "sex" scene, i mean sure why not ... Who doesnt want to try sex... And i wish there was more of an reverse rape by Ayra on Gendry, but i feel like the hole come together was to much predictable, boring and to constructed ... And hole Tormund act to this point in time in the 8 season is just boring, annoying and should have just be cut out, wasted time ... IN general the poetry is missing if you ask me ... I think the CSG is good, i think the costumes are excellent mostly, althought i dont like that brown on Jon in the 2 Episode ... But that armor on Sansa miao ... General i think to this point Sansa is getting my favourite character in the series ... Showing us here strengh and her human side... I enjoy the show and i think it is still one of the best, but isnt it funny how some of our favourites characters are just losing their appeal, on the one hand because of their story arc(conculded or the circumstances are not favouring them, etc. ), on the other hand i feel like the story "End battle" and we will probally all die, battle prepations , sleeping, etc. trite ... The show didnt offered anything new or appealing, just some ass shot of Ass shots of Arya and the last meal we all know from our church ... OK to be fully honest i dont like the Jon, Daenerys, Love story ... Because i dont see that "love" Daenerys is talking about when see speaks about how she is soo much in love with JON, when she talking to Sansa, althought that could be just talking to win Sansas trust ... I didnt believe how it happen in season 7 and i dont see it in season 8 ... I saw more love in the rape episodes of Daenerys , than in the hole Daenerys - Jon arc ... Intrestingly this could be because of no books, but who knows ... Maybe iam just seeing things that never were there at the beginning ... :) The characters mostly arent that intresting anymore, maybe because it is the end... OR because the show has become a children intrigue , from the political power struggle it was before, just like real USA ...:) For those who argue Game of thrones is USA politics ...
@@callan6499 LOL I got ur meaning but hey, think about it. Theon & Sansa lived their entire life side by side. The way Sansa hugged Theon is same as the hug to Jon. This was one of the top 10 episodes of the series... and that's hard to do for an episode with no battle or major event. "A love letter to the characters..."
QUESTION to the GOT fans outhere: when Tormund and Ed manage to successfully come around the Army of the Dead and reaches Winterfell, they told Jon that the dead army will be arriving before dawn, BUT why they didn't mention about the ICE dragon? They saw Viserion and it's a powerful weapon for the dead army that took down the wall. This is an important information and they DIDN'T mention it. WHY?
"In the name of the Warrior, I charge you to be brave. In the name of the Father, I charge you to be just. In the name of the Mother, I charge you to defend the innocent. Arise, Brienne of Tarth... A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms."
@@maxa3221 Seriously? Not every episode has to have conflict and intrigue and battles etc. It was an emotional reminder of where all the characters have been, and it really felt like a 'last night in this world' scenario, with everyone spending it their different ways. If you didn't like it then fair enough, the show is to you what it is, but I thought it was tense, some good emotional set up, and some brilliant reminders of who these characters are and what they mean to both us and each other.
@@maxa3221 my dude, did you know that George himself considers Bryan Cogman to be the one screen writer that gets his world and the characters the most? If not, look it up....
So many people in other platforms found this episode boring, cause it was only all talk. Well, they must have just started watching. This episode was so beautifully writter for each and every characters.
Personally speaking, I doubt that G.R.R. would've put this meet and greet/Reunion phase in his books, I read that HBO was willing to pay for more GOT seasons but D&D wanted to wrap it up - so now they've got to cram everything in there and tie up all the loose ends - and there's quite the collection of them.
It's 2019. Keep in mind how popular super hero movies are - A lot of people just want mindless action, so of course people will be unhappy with the first 2 episodes.
We feel you Bryan Cogman. We love them too! When Brienne was knighted, I wept. Just a perfect scene from start to finish. Bravo to you and David Nutter. You nailed it.

Brienne's been through so much shit in her life, the story she tells of her last is just terrible. Although she says she didn't care what people would say about her, she really did. When brienne finally gets knighted, it's the first time that everything's been about her and her alone. Her smile just emanates pure happiness and joy, something she hasn't had in a long while, maybe even ever.
yup, when they spent so much time showing all characters reunited again and preparing for the battle, I instantly knew next episode is gonna be a massacre. By the fact Jon had to tell Danny the truth BEFORE the battle started, when they knew it could come any moment, I wonder if it's an indicator one of them will be in trouble.
One of the most emotional episode on the show. The calm before the final storm. An ode to our beloved characters that we have been following for so long, and who have become parts of our lives
@Gasparagus Productions surely there could be some kind of contraption that would allow the operators to hold the mic in a guitar-like fashion without having to hold their arms up like that.. It is just a mic on a stick after all..
I bet it was reused CGI that was just inserted there in post production and actors probably didn't even know that there will be Ghost there. I could swear that I've seen Ghost like that before.
This is why storytelling in all its forms is the greatest art for me. Moving images of fictional characters in an imaginary world but yet it feels so real and I'm so drawn to them. This clip (18:25) is beautiful.
My top acting moments from him is actually his microacting like the facial expressions he makes when someone else is talking and the camera is on him. But also season 7 when he left Cersei and Last episode when he dubbed Brienne. Those where some great scenes.
Nicolaj and Iain Glen can say more with their facial expressions than most can do with a thousand words. Maisie as well, when she contemplates throwing Needle in the lake in Braavos.
Exactly. People say that Emilia cant act but they're clearly forgetting that compared to Daenerys, she is an actual ball of sunshine and happiness and she never stops smiling, there is a smile on her face like 24/7. Emilia is wonderful.
best scene was honoring Briene with Knight of Seven Kingdom. It was really emotional, and the song with every character in background, it seemed like it's your last day on earth, it seemed you are also a part of winterfell.
the saddest thing is that Theon will probably die in the next episode, considering the fact that he decided to protect Bran Anyway it was a wonderful scene and Daniel Portman's voice was perfect

@@dakusupremacy yeah I agree with you. I just had a thought that Brienne may make it. I could see her becoming the new Kingsguard after the dust settles. Also, someone needs to write in the "Book" about all of Jamie's good deeds. That was really important to Jamie so someone will write in it and I'm thinking it may be Brienne...so...she may live?!
I loved that little moment where Tyrion overfills Pods cup and they shared that glance. It's the little things that these actors bring to the show that thrill me the most. Pod's barely perceptible nod to Brienne before she rose from her chair to be Knighted by Jaime was another. Pure gold!! I will miss them all come seasons end.

Yep, such a beautiful and well executed scene. Everything was spot on. Some little funny moments from tormund or when tyrion gave podrick a full glass of wine, or some more serious scenes like the song or briennes knighting. And the scene is very well storywise to. Lol, iam the only one that thinks the dialogue is getting and is really "shity", dull, boring ...
Before i had the felling the dialogue had more impact ... Tyrions is seriously lacking, before it was music, poetry ... Now it sound more like typical Hollywood cliche blablabla
Also some of scenes are lacking impact as well...
The characters mostly arent that intresting anymore, maybe because it is the end...
OR because the show has become a children intrigue , from the political power struggle it was before, just like real USA ...:)
For those who argue Game of thrones is USA politics ...

Really do not know what I'll watch after this ends.
dude, yeah, it was a great screenplay!!!!!
Yeah like this is prolly the last episode we get to see them all alive and sharing these precious moments
You hit the nail on the head for me! Great comment!
"It's almost like a declaration of love" BRB dying

I watched this episode with my friends. 3 of them thought the episode was boring cause it didnt have "action".
I am rethinking my relationship with them.
I will probably watch alone from now on.
Samm Q this episode is the last breath we will have.
