@@agambhasin The main story beats are not the problem. It's that the writing did not try to do enough to justify the actions characters do. The prime example being Danny, her turning and mad and torching kings landing is huge and compelling story wise. But however such a big character turn around requires really thought out and we'll executed writing. If it is fine lazily just to get the story done with, it ends up like season 8. Why do you think George R Martin is taking a long time to complete the story. It's definitely not easy, but unfortunately D&D did not even seem to try to land the ending with such careful planning. That's how you know how amateur they are. Fuck what it feels like for you two bozos; what has the story led to, what have the characters been building towards. Apparantly for Jon it was being Dany's bitch and shouting at an undead dragon.
How badass was Rhaegal the green dragon in this episode. The pure savagery he unleashed on Viserion when they were fighting. Drogon may have saved both their lives by knocking Night's King off Viserion but even before he arrived to the party Rhaegal was literally tearing into the zombie dragon like there was fuck all to it and held his ground.
I did. Viserion was obvious because of the holes in his wings, and eventually the blue fire spewing out. And then Drogon and Rhaegal were two different colors with different shaped heads & horn lengths.
He was getting clobbered by one scene by wights, getting bitten and shit by several of them Then the next scene is of he crying in the same spot WHERE DID THE WIGHTS GO, FINISH THE JOB His scenes were so useless. Get your fatass in the crypt.
The Dothraki were useless. But I think the unsullied carried themselves pretty well outside the gates. It seemed like the whites would have gotten in the castle much earlier if the unsullied hadn't been there.
As much as I love Sam, he really should have died if he spent the episode “fighting” wights. I was hoping he’d realize what he was in for after seeing poor Edd get killed and go to the crypts, but he just took a seat on a pile of bodies and somehow survived.
What the Hell, they didn't mention Theon 😠, I mean he was as important character as any of them. Huge shout out to Alfie Allen nailed it to the core in the final moments.
I AM SO DISAPPOINTED that this video didn't go over Theon's scenes. Alfie Allen was fucking brilliant over the years and Theon had the best character arc so why is it not covered here at all? Even a minute of Alfie talking about it, or even crying over it- don't we all deserve that???
He was a literal tank. Theon wasn't exactly the most muscly heavy guy going, yet even when out of arrows and shit, the amount of wights he trashed on his own. Badass ending for his redemption arc.
@Min Ex did you watch it on a tv from the 90s? i cant believe people are actually complaining it was too dark, i watched it pirated on a crappy laptop and it was absolutely fine
Episode 8/3 was good enough for me to end the entire story line. The last three episodes don't matter to me now. This was a great ride... really enjoyed the show. A great story always has great villains and heroes. The best ones have an evil adversary that is impossible to overcome. That is what made this so special to me. I'll watch the rest of it...
I did a fan edit where I included the funeral scene from episode 4. Thats where I can end the series. The last three episodes didn't happen. Or I'm waiting for the season 9 and 10 that expands them into the last 20 episodes.
Yeah imagine them making the battle of the dead two episodes long and everyone from the west comes to join and almost everyone dies and the end it with only a few alive showing that all the politics and shit didn’t matter in the end. I would have liked it much better for be an end for the show.
George R R : "I don't like characters that are evil for the sake of evil, I don't like my main characters to survive situations they shouldn't" D&D: " yeah ok I hear what you're saying, but what if, we ignore all of that"
People need to understand that the ones at the top make the decisions, and they're usually people who don't make movies/series on the regular. They're the ones with the money. If they want someone to live or to die and they're adamant about it and won't budge no matter what, it's either what they want or no funding.
Ever heard of Dorne? Nation that survived three dragons and a large army despite being not as rich or powerful as the Westerlands or the Reach? Even in the lore, whole KINGDOMS had plot armor.
The show writers went against the two basic tenets of what made GOT unique. Now it's just... more of the same. Why should I even care how the show ends now? It's no longer meaningful in any way.
@@BigBForBoss A friend of mine sent me a picture confirming he was in the next episode somewhere from a trailer. It was clear it was after the battle too, so I'm certain. It was in the courtyard of Winterfell. I had the same question, but he proved me wrong.

It would have been so much better if they broke the door down by the weight of them pushing on it and came down the steps..plus have Sansa actually stab one since they set up her getting a dagger..I think it would of been good character development and made there be a point because let's be honest we definitely knew no one important was gonna die down there!
I was sat there for the past two episodes before wondering when they were going to deal with the crypt and inevitable raising of the dead that the Night King would try to use as an ambush. And then they... put the women and children. In the crypt. With corpses that can be resurrected by the Night King. Which is known first hand by the leader of the people that were put down there. I don't know why I'm surprised, if I'm being honest. The last three seasons haven't exactly been works of intellectuals. Or you know, writers.

The saddest thing is Theon’s death. Despite his arrogance at start, he was a good person. An emotional character which made some wrong decisions. Undecided, he betrayed the starks and regreted it so much. After all the torture he went through, he survived and changed a lot. He saved Sansa. His suffering became strength. Full of pain, sorrow and regret, he came to fight for winterfell(where he was raised) one last time and died like a true warrior.

I hate being negative, but this episode was kind of a let down for me. No mental battle between Bran & the Night King? In season 6, Uncle Benjen told Bran, *"You must learn to control it* (Bran's 3 eyed raven powers) *before the Night King comes. One way or another, he'll find his way to the world of men, and when he does, you'll be there waiting for him."* So what was the point of telling him that then? It sounded like Bran was gonna fight the NK somehow, like he was gonna play a really crucial part in taking him down, but all he did ever since he got back to Winterfell was confirming Jon's true parentage & warging some ravens😒 And we had all that Night King build up for 7 & a half seasons only to have him killed on the very first major battle he encountered south of the wall? I mean the big bad, the baddest of them all, defeated in just 1 episode. WTF? Like seriously? The battle was epic & it surely had its moments, but as far as the actual story telling is concerned, I'm kinda disappointed to be honest... Oh and also, all those white walkers didn't even fight. They were just standing there all episode with nothing to do. Only the wights fought. That was disappointing too. And that scene when Arya killed the NK, the Nk was surrounded by white walkers & wights, and yet none of them detected Arya when she was approaching. Before that in the Winterfell library, wights could detect Arya's blood, but this time because of the story's plot, they failed to detect her? It kinda doesn't make any sense😒😢😒

The most emotional part for me in this episode was Theon's death. The moment Bran tells him 'You're a good man' I literally became teary eyed. It's so sad he didn't get any time in this video. Alfie Allen knocked that role out of the effin park.
That scene also made me pretty glad that for once Bran seems to be living at the same place and time as the others and takes the time to thank and tell Theon what he deserves to hear, whether it’s that Winterfell is his home, or that he’s a good man
I knew Theon was going to die a sacrificial death, but I literally thought he was going to die as a human shield to defend Bran. It was completely written in the stars though that Theon was going to die w/all the foreshadowing. I think it gave the character "peace". I will say however, that I think Allen's performance was probably one if not the best of the series and quite possibly the most difficult to achieve in that you really bought into what had happened to him and what was happening to him as a person.
So melissandre's great purpose in the Battle was to improve the lighting on the screen. Thank you Lord of light. PS and also be a cheerleader for Arya.

I believe they thought people were in it entirely for the spectacle and set pieces rather than a compelling story.
It’s not even the story, it’s how last few seasons were so rushed, that’s what overshadows everything. If nobody else, the crew deserved better.

@@wildthingslasvegasnv6881 the crypts are protected from entry of the undead, the ones that attacked them are resurrected Starks that were buried in the crypts. Probably even Lyana Stark's corpse.
Yet nobody important in the crypt dies making it anticlimactic.
@@Mkeegs79 we could have at least seen dead ned stark carrying his head. if the dead starks are going to rise make it some we recognize
How could Sam possibly survive?! 😂😂
Plot armor is the strongest armor.
Because he has to be the one to record the song of fire and ice when he returns to the citadel.
Dothraki gets wiped out in seconds.
Sam survives thousand of zombies by laying down and crying.
Logic had been tossed in the winds.
Bran always having visions in the wrong times, like where was he when Theon was fighting? Watching Endgame?
He literally sucks. Such a coward, he’s the reason Eddison died
"Theon, you are a good man. Thank you."
- "Um... Kit was really fine with it"
- "I WAS PISSED" 32:12
😂
He has right, they raped his character
Dave Hill: Kit...was really fine with it.
Kit: I was pissed...
"El que tiene imaginación, con que facilidad saca de la nada un mundo"

They talk about him quite a bit in the other bts video (the one that came right after the ep and that HBO put on their YT last night), that might be why
Top 5 characters on the show. The perfect example of a great redemption arc.
he's been trending on twitter though! I saw only Arya, Night King and Theon being trending
exactly what i was gonna type.. its one of the most amazing heartbreaking scenes through the episode that i cried my eyes out for him
I was so sad when Theon died. But still, Alfie Allen is an amazing actor
God bless Ramin Djawadi and his masterful musical talent. The man has the ability to rescue even the worst episodes (COUGH) with his beautiful scores.
"Kit was really fine with it."
"I was pissed!"
HAHAHA IKRRR TBH I UNDERSTAND HIM WE WERE PISSED TOO, YES ARYA DID WELL BUT THAT WASNT WHAT WE WAITED FOR😂😂😂😂
Dave hill: ''Kit was really fine with it.''
*1sec later*
Kit Harington: ''I was pissed.''
I fucking loved that
The most beautiful thing about the battle was the background score .The music was morphed with the entire battle .Those who did not watch it with earphones please do.
good suggestion. I was watching it with home theater speaker. Will use earphone the second time I watch it
The music in the Nk death scene was bollocks. It should have been the stark theme
I agree that. And the visuals were unbelievable. Very dream like. Just disappointed with the route they went at the end. All that work. Idk.
Ramin made an insane soundtrack as always, visuals were amazing, even the dialogue was good, but the plot has been destroyed
Shahz Coc EXCELLENT POINT ‼️I was also drawn to the score! (Band mom) but was that KILLER PIANO SOLO w/ The Knight King And Brann THE MOST‼️‼️it had me like 😳🥵😱😱😱😥😰😨😨💀💀☠️☠️💀💀👀👀👀👀
Iain Glen / Jorah has the best scene in this video, just like in the episode!
“yeah kit was fine with it”
-cut to kit-
“i was PISSED. i was PISSED it wasnt me who killed the night king.”
i felt that...
the funny thing is that they say they knew that Arya would kill the Night King for years and didn't make any connection between the 2
congratulations... what a shit
@@saymyname281 that is such a fucking lie. they also said when they were thinking about it they said Jon didn’t feel right cause all the clues were pointing towards him. Like am I the only one that thinks that’s the stupidest thing ever
This is 40 minutes so it's literally like another episode
I hate being negative, but this episode was kind of a let down for me. No mental battle between Bran & the Night King? In season 6, Uncle Benjen told Bran, *"You must learn to control it* (Bran's 3 eyed raven powers) *before the Night King comes. One way or another, he'll find his way to the world of men, and when he does, you'll be there waiting for him."* So what was the point of telling him that then? It sounded like Bran was gonna fight the NK somehow, like he was gonna play a really crucial part in taking him down, but all he did ever since he got back to Winterfell was confirming Jon's true parentage & warging some ravens😒
And we had all that Night King build up for 7 & a half seasons only to have him killed on the very first major battle he encountered south of the wall?
Regina Phalange my first thought exactly
Ya the ending felt rushed hopefully the last 3 episodes aren’t

A wedding in Westeros, main characters die.
The biggest battle in history of Westeros, all main characters survive.
That's GOT for you 😂
Except Theon, Berric, Jorah, Mellisandre, Lady Mormont. All main characters. The only main characters that died at the Red Wedding was Rob & Catlin. I guess the pregnant wife would count, but barely. The only other wedding main character to die was Joffrey.
In the end there were more living characters than extras
Jernej Blatnik Haha, that’s what you get when you leave the show to these two goofbags, everything after S4 was downward line and they hit the abyss with this episode.
House Mormont takes offense to this heavily!
The white-walkers and the long night story arc honestly needed their own season to resolve properly...so many questions remain unanswered...
The most emotional part for me in this episode was Theon's death. The moment Bran tells him 'You're a good man' I literally became teary eyed. It's so sad he didn't get any time in this video. Alfie Allen knocked that role out of the effin park.
Agreed, cried like a baby when Theon died. He became one of my favorite characters when he started to leave reek behind
That scene tipped me over the edge, cried so much when Bran said that and "thank you"
That scene also made me pretty glad that for once Bran seems to be living at the same place and time as the others and takes the time to thank and tell Theon what he deserves to hear, whether it’s that Winterfell is his home, or that he’s a good man
I knew Theon was going to die a sacrificial death, but I literally thought he was going to die as a human shield to defend Bran.
