Go for it's worth it. Can't be what the M1 Air offers for it's price. Had mine since 2022 and has worked flawlessly. I have the 16gb m1 256gb model.@@Jizoz
This isn't at all convincing to NOT get an M1 Macbook Air. In fact it convinced me it's a great machine that would be perfect for my girlfriend. Yes, of course the new laptops with more advanced tech are going to be better. Duh. I'll never understand the compulsion people have to always have the newest thing and immediately discard something "old" just because it wasn't released 5 minutes ago.
This video just shows how out of touch teach reviewers are from "the real world". Everything he said was positive. As you said duh its not the newest and the best but you're also not paying for the newest and they best. For $699 this computer is CRAZY good. These people get used to the latest and greatest being available at their fingertips, and forget how marginal some differences are for "normal" people, and that everything he said is still very good.
Got a new base M1 MacBook Air in November 2023 for $650 as my first Mac ever, and I love it! It’s perfect for my personal use which is administrative, financial, browsing, and social. It works seamlessly with my iPhone and iPad Pro. I am able to connect 4 external monitors using dell d6000 dock, and a wavlink hdmi adapter.
@@gauravraoofficial The MacBook Air with the M1 chip is capable of running Microsoft Office, PowerBI, Tableau, and similar software smoothly, making it suitable for non-engineer professionals for corporate work. These applications have versions optimized for Mac, ensuring compatibility and performance on the MacBook Air.
Still running hard with two external monitors with dozens of tabs. I have apple care+ that is going on for 4th year, I will probably get battery replaced under the coverage.
M1 changed my whole life. In 2020 i bought the m1 macbook air because of how good it was in every department and that the pro version wasn't much different. I have been so happy with it for the past 3 years. The m1 macbook air was the first apple product i ever purchased, and because of it I went from someone who was a nerdy "um actually" andoid and windows fan to a person who understood that just because a product isn't for you doesn't mean its bad, and this important lesson impacted my entire life. I recently switched to the m3 max 16" for the same reason, its incredible in every department. I know there are windows laptops with more raw power, but that doesn't help when i unplug them and the fans spin loud, the battery depletes quickly, and the speakers, trackpad, screen aren't as good.
Been a PC user from early 2011 and all my Mac's have spend more time being repaired/replaced than any PC i've ever owned... Apple must be doing something funky with their firmware for that to happen... While its still software and it 'fails', The BIOS is a PC is also software and i've never had it get corrupted ever. I've gone through 4 Macs in two years as a result.. and the worse part is, Apple will not admit there is a problem.. Part of this could be when Apple repairs their replacing with a 'used' part, where as PC's they replace new motherboard only. I get there is something to that. But it seems to happen more on Mac's... and this is the only conclusion i can think. Yes, perhaps i just had a bad run, but 4 replacements in succession ? Not likely. I frequently wipe the SSD completely (doing an encrypted APFS partition) several times, Perhaps that is to blame. but i still put that down to Apple issue.
just bought an M1 Pro (2021) last November 2023, I have no complaints for app/web development, multi-tasking, watching movies, or playing games like Genshin Impact in 120fps. no reason to upgrade because the M2/M3 price is still high here in Indonesia.
I am commenting from my M1 MBA. Got it in December 2020 and it is still doing quite well for everything I need it to with a good battery life. I started getting Macs in 2010 and I have a 5 years cycle. Got a MBP in 2010, a MBA in 2015 and the M1 in 2020. I will probably wait for the M4 MBA in 2025 to keep my 5 years cycle going :D
@@knack6157 My 2020 MBA 16GB has still 86% battery health after 3 years. In real life MBA can still do nonstop 9 hours of work or 3-4 days when used only partly. Incomparable to x86/windows machines. I love the fact it's always on like smartphone. Close the lid and after 14 days you touch it it's right there. No hibernation waiting, no dead battery because of windows. M1 is still like 5 year ahead Intel or AMD laptops. In terms of performance in fanless body the M1 is still like 10 years ahead. Pretty amazing.
After 16 years, it was time to replace my wife's 2008 iMac and she wanted a Macbook. For her useage-email, browsing, RUclips, writing-the M1 Air was perfect. Setting it up by wifi with the printer was much easier than I thought it would be. And at $750 at Costco, the price was nice. We didn't see how spending $300 more for an M2 was worth it. It's also going to be my novel-writing machine, for long afternoons at the coffee shop and in the living room.
Yes, still worth buying if you aren’t doing anything crazy intensive. Web browsing? Yup. Streaming movies? Yup. Lite photo and video editing? Yup. Writing? Yup. Lite gaming? Yup.
I got mine in 2022 second hand with 1tb and 16 gig of ram for $800 usd. Never had any slow down issues for my use case, I would recommend anyone do the same if they want good specs for a cheap price. Still so happy with it in 2024
I have my M1 since 2022 it's the best laptop i have ever own BY FAR including older macbook air, light, fast, excellent performances and the crazy battery life you can use it for 1,2 days on a single charge !!! even 3 days if you dim the screen, iam convinced it'll remain fully compatible with update for a long time, so i bought the 16gb ram and at least 512gb-1Tb of storage for a decent longevity
M1 is a masterpiece. It is still overpowered for almost every user class. It is so good in fact that it can stand in as a backup on large music production sessions in a commercial studio. This was the domain of Mac Pros and the like just the year before just to put things into perspective. And it does all this without a fan. It is crazy good. But yeah the M2 is that and more plus the prices are kind of similar between the two. Probably makes more sense to go for the M2 air.
The M1 Air is the laptop that made me switch from Windows to Mac. Pre Apple Silicon i just couldn't rationalize the price to value ratio, Apple products just felt unnecessarily overpriced and even the tired mantra of "you are also buying into the Apple ecosystem which is unmatched" couldn't convince me. Apple silicon was truly a gamechanger. I also got the M2 Max studio last year for use with LLMs but the M1 is still chugging along and has paid for itself many time over through web dev projects.
Bought myself one Macbook Air M1, one of the best decisions I've ever made. Just came back from a 5 days 4 nights trip, doing work on the go each night for 1-3 hours and I didn't charge for a single time throughout my whole trip. It's insanely good and I don't remember having such experience with Windows laptops. Couldn't go back to Windows laptops now.
purchased September 2023 for $665 (CPO) and then upgraded the SSD to 2TB for $245 (Chinese technician at local repair shop soldered the storage chip with new ones), now it's my dream mobile workhorse TBH, very snappy, fast CPU, fast storage, excellent keyboard, excellent speaker and mic, cool to the lap, very long battery life, ready anytime, spacious (after storage upgrade), high performance. I can multitask flawlessly between Sketchup for 3D modelling, word/image processing, presentation, browsing, etc. I think If you use this for work - Macbook Air m1 will still be a good choice even on 2026 or more "maybe until it's not getting major OS updates with significant/special mandatory features".
I got a 16gb / 256gb variant in October for 899 euro because I didn't feel like m2 air was needed or is a massive step up for an everyday computer , and I was right, I love my m1 air , it does everything without a hiccup and lasts 3 days without having to charge , doesn't get hot and is just as amazing value today as it was when it was released.
@@adam.dzwoniarek72 the m1 air is still keeping up with todays “next gen” x elite laptops - I don’t think you will regret it , I still have mine and more than happy
I've been using it since 2021. I've dropped it like 3 times, the battery health has gone down to 95%, I use it almost everyday for work, school, and/or personal use. And I still have absolutely no complaints. The performance is still powerful and hasn't seemed to drop off that much since I got it new 3 years ago. This device has held up greatly throughout my college career and I'd say I still have 2-4years left in it. You can often find this device for $700-$750 new. Unless your a computer science major or anybody who does extensive programming, this device is great for the average person.
Personally, I would recommend M1 macbook air. I got mine with 16gigs of ram and it still runs flawlessly for average everyday use. I work 8 hrs a day sometimes more but the battery never runs dry. For web surfing, youtube, and/or word processing, my M1 still works outstanding. If the foregoing are your usual tasks, you do not the M2.
Got my M1 MBA base model last March 2023. I am a long time Windows laptop user but what convince me to have the MBA M1 is the battery life. My Windows laptop which I got in 2019 only gives me 2-3 hours of battery life then I have to hook it up again with an adapter. That was very unpractical on my side since I am always on the go. Having the MBA M1 saved me from looking always for electrical sockets so that my work may not be disrupted. I believe that I will cling on to my MBA for the next 3-4 years. It is such a very nice laptop to have in my work.
Great that they are still selling these! Huuuuuge part of this world cannot afford a more expensive laptop, and this one is just great - great performance, great screen, great touchpad, great battery life, good speakers. Yes the keyboard and the software could be better, but all in all absolutely the best laptop for the money!
I was surprised at how nice the software was coming from using windows laptops and building windows computers for gaming. It was a nice breath of fresh air. Had fun learning the slightly different way of doing things on a mac. What issues do you have with the software? Keyboard I can understand, it could feel a bit better. I don't do anything too intensive like video editing or heavy productivity tasks. Most I do is use word, have some safari tabs up, and have discord on in the background.
Still liking my M1 air. The only Mac I would consider upgrading to is the 15 inch air but at $1500 it’ll be a while. I think most users don’t care about the video camera and it’s still fast enough for the casual user.
I still love my MacBook Air M1, but I’m glad I got the 16gb Ram model with the 8 core GPU… it does everything I need so I just cant justify upgrading! Would be an awesome machine for a school student for the new low price I reckon. Main things I use it for, Ryujinx, Word Procesing, Photoshop, .Net Core programming, swift programming, games, RUclips, it really is an amazing machine, and at that price it can’t be beat!
yeah I got the M1 with 16GB and 8 core GPU - funnily at the time I remember all the recommendations were just to get the base model because it was good enough... but I feel like I've got an extra year or two out of the machine by getting the higher spec one
I'm not a huge gamer - I play Civ 6 on it sometimes and it's fine, and I played through Skyrim on it through Parallels and it was fine. It's never melted down or anything, though a few times I've tried to play in bed it can get quite hot. The heaviest stuff I do regularly is editing 4K footage, and it handles that like a champ, no complaints, (though I'm sure a newer computer could give me faster export/render times) @@beewings98
@@Jajdbehsgdjss If you own a computer now, you can run all the programs that you run simultaneously and check the task manager, how much ram is being used. That's the approx ram you will need for Mac as well.
Thanks for the video. Since my Mac Mini 2012 still works to this day, I just went and bought the M1 base model MacBook Air, despite your recommendation to get the M2. At $790, this model is a great update for my 12 year old mini.
These were the guys saying macbook air m2 was a wrong choice over m1 last year 😂 I would still say go for MacBook Air m1 as slight performance on air ain’t worth it
Got a brand new MBA M1 16+256 from PDD(Chinese temu) last Nov., and it only costs 6729 yuan (946.15 US Dollar). Everything works smoothly on this amazing device. I also bought a 1TB SSD external hard drive (~70 US Dollar) for extra storage. This set is perfect for student like me with limited budget.
I bought mine refurbished from Apple in 2021, it is still an incredible laptop. My wife has the M2 MBA but i wouldn't trade for it. I really don't like the new MBA design. The battery is still incredible (i am at 90% health). I have to plug it in every other day despite using it all day long for work (mostly office stuff and browsing). It's not the most powerful laptop you can get, but for a student or an office worker i would recommend it 100%.
Before I got my M1 MacBook Air, I used to have a Windows laptop that would run out of battery in just 2 hours. I bought the MacBook in 2021, and now I can go to work and come back with 50-60% battery left! It's honestly the best computer I’ve ever had and will probably stay with me for several more years.
For light and a little extra work, it's stilla huge machine. I've bought it last Jan and it's perfect for a daily use. In Italy for 799€ there's no machine so solid. The Macbook air m2 13" is still +300/400 euros more and for light use I'm repeating.....it's still so ok this 2020
Have an M1 Air but hard to upgrade since M2 Air SSD is slower with the same RAM, extra 400 dollars to upgrade the memory and SSD speed. Cost benefit is greater and since the battery last all day, I don’t really see why you need the MagSafe charger.
You forget to tell about the slow SSD on M2 basic model. So if you want to have the same SSD speed as M1 you have to buy 512GB instead, making in mich more expensive. The M1 for 750 is still a really good deal!
@@Jajdbehsgdjss I personally think 16 GB is totally worth it. So if you're on a budget, I'd really consider that 16 GB RAM, even if you need to downsize the storage a little.
Thanks for your thoughts. Will be ordering one, it's good enough for my needs. The base versions in my part of Europe cost 800 EUR for the M1 and 1450 EUR for the M3. M2 units are no longer on sale (here).
Except for Magsafe and the slightly brighter screen, there's not really much advantage to the newer ones and many people still prefer the classic wedge shape. It probably doesn't make sense to buy one new, but, used or refurbished, it's a far better value that the M2 or M3. If you need more power than the M1 Air, than you probably should get a Macbook Pro 14.
I bought one a week ago, for a good price, and I am totally satisfied with it. Lightroom and Photoshop run smoothly. Davinci Resolve handles 4k footage when I need to work on a short and light video project. Emails/browsing are a breeze. I don’t mind wider bezels. One thing I must say, 16GB RAM is a must.
Just upgraded to the M1 Air from a 2011 MBP. I had been stalking Facebook Marketplace for weeks and managed to scoop it up for $200! I really wanted the M2 but I couldn't pass up the M1 for $200. It even has AppleCare until July 2024. Deal of the decade for me!
I bought a refurbished A2442 (late 2021 14" MacBook Pro M1, base model) last week for school for about $750 USD ($699 plus shipping and tax), and this thing is still pretty bonkers. If I'm stressing it, I can get about 9-10 hours of battery life. If I'm trying to conserve power, I can get over 13 hours. 98 battery cycles and 91% battery health is pretty good. I almost bought the MacBook Air M1 with 16 GB of RAM, but I decided to spring for the Pro instead for the better screen, slightly bigger battery, MagSafe 3, fans, and 1080p webcam. Granted, it's not as thin or light as the Air M1, but I'll take that trade-off for the specs bump. The Air M1 still seems pretty solid, though.
I recently bought a m1 mba only reason I got it over m2 was m2 256gb ssd was slower .....cm on who wants pay extra for something slower .....and there were no major gamechanging upgrades expect a design
M2 air heats more compared to M1. Also the base M2 air has slower ssd. M1 is much better computer still in 2024. I would rather say it is the absolute best laptop I have ever used. Best doesn't mean most features or most performance. Best in the sense that it provides the best value at it's pricing. It exactly does what you expect from it. I can't have single complain about it except gpu performance.
watching this on an m1 MacBook Air 8gb. Yes, it is still worth buying. Currently using it for HTML, css, and js on visual studio code. Using it for network configuration and design using terminal for SSH and serial and lucid chart for design. Configuring my ubuntu server and using trunking for multiple VLAN access. And using Xcode for an Apple TV app I use for my personal Apple TVs. Im not a heavy programmer but I dare call myself a professional and I gotta say it works well. I could definitely use 16GB RAM but haven't hit any real bottlenecks that have slowed me down yet. If you are a light coder you do not need a $2000 machine. An m1 with 16GB RAM would work well for probably 80% of "professionals" 98% of consumers, maybe 50-60% of heavy programmers, and probably 40% of video or photo editors depending on the workload. As for the day to day practicality, I would prefer to have more ports. Even if just a MagSafe charger, that would allow me to go without a hub. So would I recommend the m1 air? Not as my highest recommendation. Id prefer a 14 inch M1 Pro tbh but would I say the m1 air is worth buying? absolutely
I just bought the M1 MacBook Air I've always wanted since it was first introduced in that dark year of 2020. For me, it's the pinnacle of MacBook Air design. It's what that 2014 12" MacBook always wished it could be but it was hobbled by that pathetic intel Core M processor. The M2 MacBook Air doesn't even look like a MacBook Air. The wedge shape has always been everything. I even got mine in silver, the standard MacBook Air color. The screen is great, the keyboard is great, the speakers are great! Yeah, I got mine with twice the RAM and twice the storage as the base model because I count on using this for quite a while. My sister got a base model and is perfectly happy with it. Better, better, better… the M2 is still not worth dissing the entire MacBook Air line.
Bought it when it first came out - been a spectacularly good machine! You were very wise to get 16GB. I have the 8GB which copes incredibly well with anything I throw at it but 16GB would have future proofed it for much longer.
The average consumer who's gonna go for a macbook air is probably going to keep it longer than 2, 3, or 4 years. I know people who still use 2014 macbooks as their daily drivers. These are capable machines
As I was about to buy the M1, I watched. You're absolutely right. The extra power and design are worth it. Still not paying for the RAM upgrade. The M2 power upgrade will make up for the RAM. Lightweight use only. I plan to use this instead of a kitchen iPad. M2.
Have both an M1 13-inch air (16GB/256 gb disk) and an M2 15-inch air (16gb / 512 gb disk). Use both all the time, but prefer the 13 wedge shape and weight for carrying it around. I like the keyboard on the 13 a little better. It's my recommendation for anyone thinking about trying out a Mac. The 15 stays on the desk and I use it when I need more screen. I cannot tell the speed difference at all; sometimes it feels like (subjective) the 13 loads web pages (Vivaldi) faster than the 15. I run Virtualization on the 13 and have a Kali Linux guest under UTM. It is fast! Does not slow the host down at all that I can see. Don't care about the webcam (taped over) or the bezels. Not that thick. Also don't care about the notch on the 15 for what it is worth. End of the day, the only thing the 15 has I care about other than the larger screen is the Magsafe. And to get the 16GB/512GB version was a ton of money, but you have to spend it to get the fast Flash drive. The 13 comes with a fast drive even in the 256gb version.
I just gave my m1 air to my mother to replace her 2018 air after upgrading to an M3 pro macbook pro that also replaces my work mac mini (so 1 mac instead of two now). She's super happy & so am I 🥰

Thank you for your video, but I will still stick to my basic spec MBA M1 as it is. That device still didn't fail on my daily tasks like web browsing with multiple tabs, and working on VS Code for Cloud deployment work. Still rocking on the 8GB :).
Wow, I only bought mine last year, and I absolutely love it. It is my first ever Apple laptop. It so superfast. I still use windows too. Everyone seems to hate Acer, but I love Acer laptops. HP has been my worst expectance. Now I am using my M1, it is hard using windows, going back to a windows laptop, I fell as if I am downgrading. If you are coming from windows and thinking of using an Apple laptop, you won't be disappointed.

my friend & my mom still using base model macbook pro 2015 & still running smoothly for zoom meetings & watching youtube apple tv & apple music streaming etc.. my macbook air m1 I think it is still worth it even in 2029..
I'd like to disagree. Firstly now that the M3 is out I've seen these for 699. That's a midrange Android phone price for a full M1 MacBook. Secondly I really don't see the point in getting an M2 as the performance difference is marginal, a lot of people would be better off with an M1 Air and 16gb ram instead of an M2 for the updated design. M1 will still get AI so there's nothing there and probably still has years of support ahead of it. Either go all out on the M3 or get the M1.
I still have my trusty M1 Mac Mini in its lowest constellation. And its still great. Though I don’t use it for any heavy tasks. Just home office and surfing and such
This is not true for less flexible markets. In my country, M1 and M2 still maintain a huge distance in price. The price of new models is in no hurry to normalize. Rather, new models become more expensive, and the old ones remain at the old price. Right now M1 costs about 900 and M2 is closer to 1300
The bezels will obviously look worse to you than the regular consumers as we dont have spare m2/m3 macs lying around. I been using mine for 2 years and never thought the bezels were a problem

Yup watching this vid on a M1 Air
That's progress😆
Got a new base M1 MacBook Air in November 2023 for $650 as my first Mac ever, and I love it! It’s perfect for my personal use which is administrative, financial, browsing, and social. It works seamlessly with my iPhone and iPad Pro. I am able to connect 4 external monitors using dell d6000 dock, and a wavlink hdmi adapter.
How does MBA m1 comply with the microsoft office, powerBI,tableau,etc... basically for a non engineer guy corporate work
@@gauravraoofficial The MacBook Air with the M1 chip is capable of running Microsoft Office, PowerBI, Tableau, and similar software smoothly, making it suitable for non-engineer professionals for corporate work. These applications have versions optimized for Mac, ensuring compatibility and performance on the MacBook Air.
Still love my M1 MacBook Air.
It's still the best laptop in cost/performance perspective
Me too, I’ve had mine for the past 2 years now and thing’s still an absolute beast.
Yes same with me. My M1 macbook air still going strong
Me too
Still running hard with two external monitors with dozens of tabs.
No matter what you say the m1 macbook air is still the best
just bought an M1 Pro (2021) last November 2023, I have no complaints for app/web development, multi-tasking, watching movies, or playing games like Genshin Impact in 120fps.
no reason to upgrade because the M2/M3 price is still high here in Indonesia.
How will you say the battery life has aged from new to now 3 years later ?
@@knack6157😮 how is the battery going
@@knack6157 My 2020 MBA 16GB has still 86% battery health after 3 years. In real life MBA can still do nonstop 9 hours of work or 3-4 days when used only partly. Incomparable to x86/windows machines. I love the fact it's always on like smartphone. Close the lid and after 14 days you touch it it's right there. No hibernation waiting, no dead battery because of windows.
M1 is still like 5 year ahead Intel or AMD laptops. In terms of performance in fanless body the M1 is still like 10 years ahead. Pretty amazing.
@@sn-xc7rv if they do, it'll probably be no more than 12GB for the base model.
@@sn-xc7rv they couldn't even do that for a base model $1600 pro machine so i'm not too optimistic about it
After 16 years, it was time to replace my wife's 2008 iMac and she wanted a Macbook.
Yup.
I mean any post-2018 macbook can do those things. The M1 air just has amazing battery while doing it
And even more than “light”
I got mine in 2022 second hand with 1tb and 16 gig of ram for $800 usd. Never had any slow down issues for my use case, I would recommend anyone do the same if they want good specs for a cheap price. Still so happy with it in 2024
that's a steal!! Where did u bought from??
@amirthecultivatedcommuter5837 yes it was used, but hardly he got it in 2021. I also bought a Mac mini for a server with 16 gig of ram and 512gb
Wow, yep, that was crazy cheap!
@@jeansienkin yes if you do your research, you can find a great deal
@amirthecultivatedcommuter5837 yes it was! Got it from facebook marketplace
Nice. Now is probably a great year to find M1 airs on the used market though, if you're really on a budget. It's still a great computer.
Still use it, still love it. Got me through college and won’t upgrade until it gets slow
*(it’s still snappy even 3 years later though)*
it would actually be worrying, if it wasn't still snappy. The only way it would suddenly get slow is if Apple purposefully throttled it. No other way.
The price can differ 500€ for base model i dont think that is similar at all😆
When comparing the 16gb ram versions, the difference is still enormous.
Facts
New it is $1600 for Mac air M2 16GB vs $1200 for M1 16GB. Not Sure worth it. Just updated my iPhone 12 to iPhone 14.
@@Scottlp2 you can get better deal than that sir even refurbished which is almost the same
The M1 Air is the laptop that made me switch from Windows to Mac.
@@jenifonh.6949 Yes, its easy to get used to MacOS. You'll be good to go in less than a week.

Believe me it is still worth it
purchased September 2023 for $665 (CPO) and then upgraded the SSD to 2TB for $245 (Chinese technician at local repair shop soldered the storage chip with new ones), now it's my dream mobile workhorse TBH, very snappy, fast CPU, fast storage, excellent keyboard, excellent speaker and mic, cool to the lap, very long battery life, ready anytime, spacious (after storage upgrade), high performance.
I just ordered that variant earlier today. Waiting for it arrive next week. You think it was a good decision?
I'm still totally happy with my M1 MBP. Really capable chip, does everything I ask for with lots of speed. :)
Recently picked one up on eBay with a new battery, 16gb ram, 512 gb SSD for ~800$ no regrets
More than fast enough actually.
I actually like the wedge shaped design, I’m keeping my M1 MacBook Air until it doesn’t work anymore!
You both made excellent decisions. 8gb ram is the reason I had to switch.
What games do you play on it? Does it ever run into problems if you play a game for a prolonged period of time?
These were the guys saying macbook air m2 was a wrong choice over m1 last year 😂
I would still say go for MacBook Air m1 as slight performance on air ain’t worth it
The bezels make it look friendlier and more charming IMO. Not saying I don't like my small bezels but the look really doesn't turn me off at all.
Totally agree
I’m not a bezel fan. But on this I think they balance the screen perfectly and look great.
I like the extra features of the M2 Air too much. Having the magnet charger freeing up a spare USB port is just great.
Sold my air M1 and got a used 16” m1 max 32gb Ram 24c gpu. Really enjoying this but the air was amazing as well (value).
It's not the most powerful laptop you can get, but for a student or an office worker i would recommend it 100%.
still using my m1 and willl keep using it till it dies as I have no need for anything faster or nicer looking.
I would call MBA M1 as Steve jobs edition.. the last iconic wedge shaped design showcased by Steve jobs from 2008.
For light and a little extra work, it's stilla huge machine. I've bought it last Jan and it's perfect for a daily use. In Italy for 799€ there's no machine so solid. The Macbook air m2 13" is still +300/400 euros more and for light use I'm repeating.....it's still so ok this 2020
I bought one last year January from Subito for 700€, 2nd but 100% battery health
I buy yesterday an MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16 Inch for 1500 Euro. Battery Charged 37 Times. No Scratch on it. I love the Machine
I still use one daily, and it still does what I need and more.
I actually bought one just to use synth and keyboard plugin on the go.
And casual recording
Aye good to know
I bought one a week ago, for a good price, and I am totally satisfied with it.
Same here, i was able to get one in perfect condition for $300 . Guy needed the money. It was just purchased in Aug 2023 and he had receipt .
The best Apple laptop shape, design, price and that rose gold colour with the M1 chip that perfected it - totally Iconic
Just bought my first MBA M1 last November 30 and i love it.
As a POWER user OF COURSE you would not buy it but as a normal everyday users you can ABSOLUTELY buy it
Compared to Intel crap it was a power machine once as well
Should I buy it? I am doing my LL.M and I'll later do a Ph.D. I need a reliable machine for academic works.
Id prefer a 14 inch M1 Pro tbh but would I say the m1 air is worth buying? absolutely
Can I know what is the specs you are using for?
Still using mine and it works great! No need for me to upgrade as yet. I just do teacher things on mine 🥳
I just picked one up and absolutely love this computer!
Use it now for my webdev with docker. It still work fine even if it only 8 gb ram.
Bought for 630$, im happy with it as a student.

I got it for US$620 brand new, literally like 3 days ago! Now beat this! Gonna stick to this machine for years to come. It's fast enough for general users like me.
Pro graphic designer here. I only work on photoshop and illustrator and use a M1 Air with 16gb ram and 1TB. I don't feel the need to upgrade and i'll probably be fine for a good few years yet tbh until Adobe pile on the bloat and try to cripple everything below an M5
my friend & my mom still using base model macbook pro 2015 & still running smoothly for zoom meetings & watching youtube apple tv & apple music streaming etc.. my macbook air m1 I think it is still worth it even in 2029..
If you find one on the cheap, they are absolutely worth getting for anything besides heavy tasks like gaming
MKBHD stills recommends it, so your opinion became a little less important. The M1 is still incredible
I’ve had the 8gb 512 version for over 2 yrs. Ripped and converted 100s of Blu-rays well. Day to day video/photo stuff is a breeze. I’m not patient with tech, I like it fast and hiccup free. The M1 Air is still all I need really. I could upgrade, but can’t see the point. The gains wouldn’t be meaningful enough.
He is wrong the m1 air is so flippin worth every penny for years to come!!, do you guys agree? I bought mine november 2023 brand new and i feel like it is worth it
I upgraded my kit and got a Mini for the desk and a refurbished M1 Air with 16 Gb 256 for on the go.
I'm really pleased with it. Good discount and it does everything I ask of it.
It is a keeper for sure.
How much did you pay for the M1 Air?
@@tsizzle £1019 for M1 with 16Gb 256Gb. Retail then and now for that model £1199. RAM is the upgrade I needed most. The 256 isn't ideal, however I back up to 2 x Samsung external SSDs and edit off them if required.
@@kaneclements7761 ohh British pounds. So converting to US dollars it’s around $1527.
@@tsizzle As of today $1296 USD according to Google. It is not possible to make a direct comparison because VAT (sales tax in the UK is 20%). Plus other costs of doing business vary between the US, UK and EU. I suggest you look at the US refurb store. I've just just checked the US refurb store and if you can live with Gold they have a 16Gb 512GB for $1189 USD.
Unless you are editing very, very high res video or big photography file edits like those from a a Sony A7R V or a Fuji GFX such a machine will eat most tasks without breaking sweat.
No windows laptop (even any 16GB RAM one) in 2024 still can provide all of below:
1) 15 hrs battery backup
2) Super quick memory efficient performance
3) low wattage
4) 2.5k screen
5) metal body
6) durable
Base 8GB model m1air from 2020 can do all above.
And thus is still highly recommended
Been rockin my MBA M1 since 2022, never misses a beat and still powers through everything I need it to do. Battery life is still just a good as it was on day one. At this point in time, I honestly have no need to upgrade to the newest MBA/P
