If any setting is fit for a Battlefield-style, all-in, combined arms experience, it is this one. It boggles the mind that it hasn't been done already; VTOLs, tanks, Guard Trooper "pets", snipers, heavy emplacements, Titans looming over the battlefield, destructible environments, truly chaotic fighting. It would be like printing money.
I see a Dreadnaught. If we'll get control of a Dreadnaught at some point... praise the Emperor, it will be GLORIOUS!! I still can't really actually believe this game is coming out in September, after all these years. It's funny to hear the "kind of like the new Doom games" comparison for the Execution mechanic. When I first played DOOM 2016 back then, my first thought performing the new Glory Kills was "hey, it's just like Space Marine".

The faction most people will start with is the Imperium of Man, this faction is a collection of all humans and Space Marines who believe in the God-Emporor of Mankind, though not all Space Marines are religious. Then there are the main "bad guy " the forces of chaos. These forces of chaos worsip 4 gods, these gods are Khorn (the god of warfare, mostly melee), Tzeentch (the god of trickery and scheeming), Slaneesh (the god of excess) and Nurgle (the god of Pestilence and Disease). They are the guys who are mostly refeered to as heretics. Then there are an aray of alien species. The orks, living fungus that only want war. Eldar, elves in space. The T'au, mecha anime with blue humanoids. The tyranids, a hyvemind that only wants to consume bio-mass.
Zergs were roughly based on tyranids, and then gamesworkshop took inspiration from them back as well. So they both helped eachother become as cool as they are pretty bad ass. Love unending alien menaces built from the dead bio- matter of fallen comrades and enemies alike
As a massive Warhammer fan and collector of the models in my youth, I've been begging for a game which does it justice, almost my whole life! There have been some decent attempts but nothing which scratches the itch... So if this turns out to be like a next-gen version of Helldivers on crack I'll be pumped. There is so much scope for sequals and updates with Orks, Eldar, Chaos etc so hopefully they can finally nail it. God willing...

As someone who has very little knowledge and exposure to the Warhammer brand, this game looks awesome! I'm actually tempted to get this game when it comes out. Thing is, do I need to know what happened in the first game?
I imagine the game will probably catch you up on events from the first game, considering that game came out 13 years ago and was a much smaller release than the sequel is shaping up to be. However, if you feel like playing a relatively short action game and don't mind dated graphics, then Space Marine 1 is still fun.
Reminds me of the type of game we used to get before micro-transactions and games and service totally corrupted game design. They are actually giving people the modes and features they want rather than drip feeding and baiting people into paying money.

Hey jack you probably wont see this but a youtuber name of brother konan still posts vids of space marine 1 multiplayer and it will probably still play pretty similar to that from small gameplay we have seen
I feel like that is not as good of an idea, helldivers 2 player count tanked and they never changed the regen rates. So it’s basically impossible to make any progress on a planet that isn’t the major order. Even then you have people that refuse to do the major order

The first spacemarine game lets you control the dreadnaught in PVP mode by the way.

Starcraft was originally conceived as a 40k game. The Terrans, the Protoss and the Zerg are just rebranded Ultramarines, Eldar and Tyranids.

Starcraft was based on WH40k. Blizzard didnt get the rights to do It. So they made their own universe.
