Just started AoS after playing 40k for 2 years and loved the aesthetic and lore of Sarephon. Your videos have been a great help with getting a feel of how they play but I'm stumped with what to buy for my first list. Any suggestions? So far I have a slann starmaster, 10 warriors and 3 lancers.
Idk the cogs change may help in a way, lets you Slann general with the double ccp trait cast a 4th spell for 8 points a turn (10 if he dispels coogs on enemy turn). If you are going second, he can be a 5 cast wizard! Thats a ton of ccp from just him. Obviously the higher chance to fail casts sucks, but still seems nice to me.
Yep, has a slight bonus in getting an extra cast... But it's probably still a wash at best assuming you fail at least one cast without all the rerolls.
except Cogs no longer rerolls casts. The risk of a miscast is worse. And there will probably be a lot more people playing anti magic tech. Spells that boost your own army will be a lot more powerful than direct damage in a lot of matchups.
I think that, with the introduction of Hoarfrost, maybe Empower Celestite Weapons is less relevant now in a Coalesced army: u just swap the chosen spell for the slann from Empower CW to Hoarfrost, because at the end of the day it is the same thing, only Hoarfrost is potentially better. I dont see the CV8 of Hoarfrost, compared to the CV7 of Empower as a big downside thanks to the +2 of the slann and the primal dice. Plus, u can always choose the artifact Coatl Familiar and have acces to Empower if u need it (for the bigger range i mean). Am i crazy in thinking so? Is there something i am not considering?
Right on. Hoarfrost is MUCH better. They also stack if you cast Hoarfrost first and the Empower. But if I'm only casting one, it's definitely Hoarfrost!
Hoarfrost can also boost your hit roll and that might be a lot better :). Always cast it first, if you get a 3 then go for rend, 1 or 2 goes to hit roll, saves you a CP ; then cast Celestite 😁. Of course you’ll need a magnificent bonus for that
Unrelated question, i notice that there are 2 different artefact types for slann, Treasures of the Temple Cities and Treasures of the Old Ones. Can you only take Treasures of the Temple cities in coalesced, and can you only take Treasures of the Old Ones on starborne? Or can you take either on both in coalsced amd starborne?

When i see Eater of Magic, I'm not even remotely thinking about it's power FOR Seraphon. AGAINST Seraphon, it becomes the single biggest "fuck you" to Kroak rapid casting Celestial Deliverance in the game. This whole video is just a huge nerf to Starborne and an attempt to hand tools to enemies to shut it down.

Without cogs giving re-rolls we might avoid a Kroak nerf 😅. Slann is very likely to get a bump tho
OMG nullstone pebble does not say friendly unit so if its a mortal wound spell you can turn it on a enemy unit you are in combat with.
