榮和 Eng Ho Fried Hokkien Mee Review | The Best Hokkien Mee in Singapore Ep 10

- It just keeps getting better.
Just when I thought we have reached the top tier hokkien mees, Eng Ho provides yet another exemplary version of the dish.
The outstanding prawn flavor does inspire me to research more on the species of prawn and how it affects the dish. While some argue that such prawn flavor shouldn't be obvious (and I can kinda see where they are coming from), I definitely enjoy that almost pungent crustacean flavor.
The rainbow road is real boys.

some audio distortion from 3:50
yeah there was some interference with the mic receiver unfortunately. I have since turned on the backup recording function, hopefully it won't happen again!
I’m glad that you rate this stall so highly. I grew up eating this stall’s HKM. The block in the background of intro is my childhood home and my parents still live there. The standard has rarely slipped one iota. I have been based overseas for the last 15 years and every trip back home, it is a must and have to say so lucky to have this amazing HKM just downstairs from folks’ flat. The chef still remembers me all the time I return for a plate. So a great kudos for that.
I thought u only do beef 😏😏😏
I'm now convinced, this series is just for you to binge HKM.
shhhhh
Hey Alderic! Great news to share, my personal favourite Hokkien mee at Hougang green is back! The stall only opens in the evening but I am not sure if it’s open daily or as per previous schedule closing on Thursday. The son is the one frying Hokkien at night and the parents does prawn mee soup and lor mee during day time. The shop name is Traditional Famous Prawn Mee. Do drop by if you have the chance!
Tiong bahru market’s Hokkien mee. Right next to the escalator. Always long queue!!! Used to be the dad doing the cooking but he passed away some time back - so the son took over. Mum is helping out with ordering.
Damn, you know... I just found your channel after browsing thru youtube. I am a fan of Hokkien Mee as well. Your channel will definitely help me satisfy my crave for the BEST hokkien mee.
Which day did you go? Visit them on sundays for two consecutive weeks at 6pm but they were not open. 😢
I went down on a Thursday. strange, they should be open on Sunday.
Wah lau eh. Eat hokkien Mee without the sambal chilli. It's the most important part to review as well.
Looks good like the dry version I like, How long do you have to Q for it?
this was 25 minutes? about there.
TBH after all these years, I don't even know the name of this stall. I just know that it exists in AMK. And that I'll drive from the west all the way here to dabao it back home. You can call and order in advance as well.
You should try Chuan Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee located in Tong Yuan Eating House, it's honestly one of the best hokkien mee i've had.
Just throwing this out there but please do try out Kim Keat Hokkien Mee in Toa Payoh. Although I ONLY like dry versions, this is the only wet version I like and it's also the one and only hokkien mee served (and probably cooked) in a claypot
I was watching another video from Overkill recommending Simon Road and Eng Ho HKM and Eng Ho was rated better. Both had 3 plates of noodles rating from you. Which one do you prefer?
I think Eng Ho has the better wet version but Simon Road's dry version is one of a kind.
Tried the bedok one?
this looks amazing!! will try it out soon, this series is rlly top tier...(once again repping shunfu mart hkm)
Hi, you seems to missed out one key ingredient in your recent hokkien mee review. The pork lard. Not important anymore?😂
wheres the second plate??
Thanks for reviewing it! Yes you're spot on about the flouriness. It's just nice for me though - right to the edge, like a good stand-up comic. Any further and we'd be making offensive jokes about Malaysians...
I thought the chilli paste was gonna be a miss, seeing there’s still quite a bit left on the plate.
oh I don't really use chilli or lime in this series. I taste it but won't comment if it's not anything out of the ordinary.
The audio is distorted from 3:50
no pork lard?
I don't think so. some places do give if you ask but I'm keeping it consistent by not asking on this series.
eat at chinatown hong lim park, cuppage prawn noodle
Commenting for the algorithm😻😻🔥🔥
i really like your bold statement, “the authentic versions have nothing on the ones u tried so far!” … it’s gonna ruffle some feathers but i think it’s true! gonna share your video now! 😂 TBH the purists vers or their predecessors may have pioneered the dish, but it was the old cripple formerly in serangoon rd that defined the dish.
Having another contender for top three sounds like a great problem to have!
Wait: Alderic, you visited Hokkien Man Hokkien Mee, but did not visit Tian Tian Lai, which is just walking distance away? Noooooooooooo; they are both my favourite FHPM in Singapore! (Recently finally went to try Simon Road, after your video review, at Kovan market, that was very satisfyingly old-school rustic too, with pork belly strips--or was it jowl strips, cos it was so chewy but no skin/fat--but they only gave one type of sambal chilli by default, though they will give the other one too on request.)
I'm not ending the series without trying tian tian lai 😤😤
@@Alderic.they are called 天天来 for a reason.
??? I stay near HMHM, but how is lorong 7 walking distance to lorong 1 lol. I wont even bother walking that far to TTL
But the shop is anything but 天天开 , so you also can’t 天天来. 😢
@@Alderic. I agree with your review of COME DAILY, which like its equally amazing neighbour CHEY SUA FRIED CARROT CAKE, are super hard to get hold of for those of us who aren't early eaters.
from the way it is now, looks like we have :
Best Overall:Eng ho
Best dry: Hainan
Best balance:Youfu?
Best Flavor: Simon road wet??
man hokkien mee is so tough to judge
I don't even know myself. I think no matter what answers I come with, I won't be 100% satisfied with it.
Eat all 4 in 1 seating.
@@Alderic. So true... Welp, good luck for the final ratings, I think that will be a tough video to make
my fave hokkien mee ! only gripe for me is that there is no pork lard haha :P
The hokkien mee is good but for the prawn is not fresh which they use low grade prawn and keep for too long
If there is one only hokkien mee you can try, it’s gotta be come daily hokkien mee.
best bbtea brand in singapore
Maybe one day Singapore will learn to make yellow noodle without the alkaline flavor. Literally every single noodle dish in Singapore would improve.
I see your point but I actually like that flavor. especially in curry mee and hokkien mee.
Hi
no HKM should be given 3 Noodles without an above average sambal chili
This Eng Ho is so much better than the one at 453 AMK
Can u do a collab with overkill/ aka ex food king 😂
not clouted enough my guy. please subscribe T_T
@@Alderic. 🤣
👍💜👍💜👍😁
