@@English_to_Persian I think you would still need a mask if you wanted to change the roughness/metal/height without affecting the transparent background?
Yes. Was looking for solutions to paint on 3d models. Does this have blend modes. I saw a horrible white outline. Multiply blend mode would get rid of this... ?
i was trying to paint the mask @13:13 using projection. but later when i add the Data layer with anchor point, and adjust the height, the height shows leaking paint strokes out of the mask. i repeat the steps a few times and it is still the same problem. is there any way to solve this?
I had the same issue. I figured out it's because the mask layer needs to be painted with projection. When that's your first time using that tool like me, every detail is important. Result is exactly what I was looking for, that's worth the few hours it took me to figure it out.

in 2022 do not working i dont know why. When you projecting with black mask(by greyscale mask), the color (included to projection) in the paint layer is not visible, that is, nothing happens. But will be visible if you paint after black mask. I mean when you painting at mask you cant see color
Transparent backgrounds do not often translate into masks in Substance painter which is why i also use a mask :) you can ofcourse make it transparent but with my workflow it would not make a lot of difference
You can also do that yes but it might be less flexible in terms of placement and of course, you would only be able to have 1 item per texture instead of making an atlas.
I think you can do that but it gives you less flexibility over the height and roughness etc. because if you only paint in the layer you need to set the height and roughness correct. after that the only way to change it is through the opacity but i like to use a fill layer.
I want to add a decal on my model (a logo sticker) but the wood material under it still goes trough it (wood fibers), any idea how I can make it so the sticker is on top of it all without anything going trough it?

omg this is the most overcomplicated thing I ve ever seen. why you just don't use an image with alpha channel and simple 2d projection fill layer its much simpler and non destructive
Because i like to have control over my height and roughness etc after the placement without needing to go into individual channels and add levels etc just to change them
Its not a best way to do stickers. You lose all bonuses of nondestruct process. Just use planar mapping and another layer with ankored Alfa. And use separate PND with Alfas. Its simple.
Best sticker tutorial I've seen so far. Theory, basics and real practical tips, purry voice - beautiful. Just perfect for me. Thank you
there is currently an easier way to do things however with projection mapping but we still need to create a video update :)
When you say grunge it just feels good.
I would upvote this again if I could. Outstanding tutorial, thank you!
Perfect tutorial, simple explanation, not too fast, not to slow-just perfect
i use a PNG file with transparent background and drag it into the base color

@@flowtee2207 you can add anchor point to remove the transparent bg and still use roughness/metal/height without needing to take alpha with it

Did you create a mask inside of PS that you apply? because this masks avoids any paint strokes outside of your stickers

Wasnt it possible to just make an alpha logo and place it with triplanar?
You can also do that yes but it might be less flexible in terms of placement and of course, you would only be able to have 1 item per texture instead of making an atlas.

When i import the stickers they don't show up.
You can have a color sticker with an alpha and when you paint, the black won't show up.
