I know this video is really old, but it's also by far the best resource of its kind! I would be so happy if you were to pick the series back up. There's so much information out there "for families," but not much actually made for people with autism themselves to independently improve their skills
Hey! I'm not autistic but I have ADD and I have trouble with hygiene and especially showering, because it takes me a lot of time (about an hour) and efforts so I often skip it for several days. It makes me feel uncomfortable and unconfident. This video helps me a lot, I will try to make my own step-by-step poster. If I think to do it, I will keep you updated with my progression.
This is just what I have been looking for to teach my son how to shower independently. Are you making any more of these wonderful resources for teenagers with ASD?
Great video! I was looking for something to show my clients and this was perfect! I love that the young adults were all on the spectrum. That really resonated with my clients. Looking for more videos like this with other grooming Ax.
I wouldn't recommend using the same towel Everytime you shower. Always replace towels after every use and wash them. Other people use them too when drying hands after using the bathroom. Otherwise using the old dirty towels you would use can share bad bacteria.
Thanks for the video. I was trying to find a video that would be sensitive for a teen with autism. I found one that was ok but my son showed interest in this one better. I just though it was him with not wanting to take a shower. He'll take a shower but they are hit and miss and we cannot afford that considering he has an incontinence issue. So..... Maybe you guys can do some more hygiene clips to help out. Again thanks.
I loved this, explicit instructions, simple and to the point, but the animation is could be confusing for people with autism, the arrows indicating where you should wash point to weird places and are not on the body, and the feet are round. there are no ears on the cartoon person and no genitals. Circling the exact areas would be more useful in my opinion than arrows in the vague direction of things that aren't actually there. Also, lets use the real words for 'private parts' penis and vagina are words that all people should learn and understand. There is nothing wrong with teaching people with learning differences how to talk about their bodies using appropriate vocabulary. I would use this video for teaching if the animation was more human (male), and I would like the same for a female body.
