Very intricate and slow feeding process, as it allows for some additional parent-child time together. ❤
Interesting how Father continually repositioned his body to help move food stored in his crop to an area in his throat where QT could locate and safely pull it into his beak.
The on-going vocalizations took on a conversational tone, too...
QT: Papa, may I have lunch now? I'm famished!
Father: Yes, little one. But give me a moment to prepare it for you.
Then we see the parent pose his body to aid movement of food from crop to upper throat, giving baby vocal and open beak cues to receive another morsel.
This is fabulously interesting and infornative! 👍

Two questions….what’s going on there when the baby has hi head and beak inside the parent’s mouth? It looks like he’s reaching down the adult’s throat to eat something. Since I’ve never seen the parent bring food like the eagles do, it made me wonder what the little one is doing. What IS their diet? And those calls….the communication between all of these birds and their babies is just amazing!

My kids are curious and concerned about QT's young beak/bill getting permanently stained or discolored from the nutrient rich fish oil drying on it after feedings
The stain is not permanent. It will take awhile to clear up.

I worried about all the stains on her beak but I know it's superficial I still feel so sorry for looking like that
for me our brown little OT looks cute.
QT sure had a lot to say during this feeding! I was hoping dad would stay atleast as long as he usually does. I know they sat together in the grass for a few minutes after this video. But QT needed more quality time with dad. I hope the oil smell didn't bother dad.
Unfortunately, now food is more important than quality time! QT needs more and more food.

Y is QT getting grubbier by d day? D parents don't seem to want to groom her enough?? 🤢
QT is dirty because a juvenile bit it’s neck, and QT was so nervous it vomited it’s stomach contents immediately upon being bit. It was sooo sad. Luckily however, little QT is doing good now it seems 🥰. One last thing, it isn’t the parents duty to groom the chick until it’s down is a pristine white, ya know? Also, preening is what made little QT so dirty in the first place- ya see, when QT spilled it’s stomach contents, it actually didn’t get too dirty, but it did however get some on his or her bill, so whenever QT did some preening after that event, it ended up spreading the dirt from the bill all over poor little QT’s down. That’s ok though!

@@CenturianEagle tqvm for d explanation. It's jus dat I thot animals r very particular abt their cleanliness to keep themselves healthy. I've watched d earlier videos of these albatross and their chicks, those chicks never seem to get themselves dirty like QT, so i was wondering whether there's s'thing wrong with QT (she was oready grubby b4 d attack incident!).
@@umikalthumabdulmajid5406 no problem! And yeah QT was dirty before the incident, it actually got dirty when it got attacked by ROY. Then from what I remember it got clean again and then it got dirty again from the bill thing I was talking about. So only the second/middle time getting dirty was of QT’s doing, and so If you think about it that’s only one time QT for itself dirty, which is normal as Pippa and Tiaki had been dirty before too of course. So don’t worry about QT, the baby is doing just fine 😊. I totally understand being worried about them. Btw, we still don’t know if qt is a boy or girl- I do hope we can find out soon though !
