To me it’s always Leatherface. He may not be as much as an icon, but he’s a true archetype that few have matched.
Oh damn I just came here to post this.
Leatherface came first.
The Big 3 would be nothing without - HE.
@@catsinjelloI actually did. Prior to reading this perfectly written post.
Absolutely. Leatherface is way cooler than Jason at least.
It's 100% Leatherface. He came before all these 3 and really set the bar. Not to mention, TCM STARTED the entire wave of Slasher remake movies and TCM 2003 is the best one of them all alongside the F13 one. Every Halloween there's always at least 1 mf with a chainsaw. That shit is genuinely terrifying. Ghost face would be next. Then Chucky.
To me the fourth would be GhostFace. Yes i know it’s another Masked Horror Knife Weilder but here’s my reason for the 4:
-Michael Myers: OG, Representation of Evil, iconic mask, and constant presence and the embodiment of horror who brought fear into Suburban America and he did it on the best date to do so, Halloween. Also the music is instantly recognizable
-Jason: A simpler yet more iconic mask, now when I see a hockey mask I don’t even think of the sport. He’s brings horror to the one place to a joyful place, that being a summer camp. He’s so iconic and transcendent that now the number 13 is considered unlucky mostly because people think of the movie. Also It’s a twist on Rural Horror instead of it being a Bear or Wolf, it’s a Humanoid Figure
-Freddy Krueger: The constant fear he instills and dread knowing you can’t escape it. As long as you go to sleep theirs a chance you’ll encounter him. You can’t out run him
-Ghost Face: The first major character associated with Phone Calls and the Scream Franchise also gave a unique twist on the slasher genre incorporating Humor and being self aware
I think I would prefer an old school Universal Monsters Mt. Rushmore with the OG Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein and the Mummy.
That would be a different MT Rushmore.
Obviously Leatherface imo. I kinda thought he was already on there actually. I've always seen them as the Big 4.
I can’t believe this is even a question. Leatherface.
Leatherface. Considering the fact that he came around in 1974, an argument could be made for him to be top three. Cheers
LeatherFace should definitely be up there, he preceded Michael, Jason & Freddy.
Also gotta factor in longevity, and pop culture impact its hands down chucky, hes been consistent to this day, tbh more people would probably know chucky rn as opposed to freddy and jason bc they've been mia for over a decade
Baby wake up RealLifeRyan just uploaded!
For me it's Chucky for several reasons.
I wouldn't include Leatherface (Sawyer Family) or Pinhead (Cenobites) because they were part of a group. They're the most recognizable part of the group, but part of a group nonetheless.
I wouldn't include Ghostface because he wasn't a character, he was a disguise that people used to hide their identity.
Chucky is probably the most mainstream popular besides Michael, Jason and Freddy. Chucky is like Freddy in that no one can play Freddy the same as Robert Englund and no one can voice Chucky the same as Brad Dourif. And Chucky like the other three has a "signature" that everyone knows.
Michael Myers has the theme song. Jason has the sound effect (Ch-Ch-Ch-Ha-Ha-Ha). Freddy has the nursery rhyme. Chucky has the catchphrase.
And Jon Gruden was nicknamed Chucky because he looks alot like him.
Definitely Leatherface
Leatherface.
No question.
Here’s one question, ask a casual movie viewer or just anyone, show them a picture of Leatherface and Chucky. 9 times out of ten someone would point out Chucky faster than Leatherface cus he’s just way more popular
It’s always been Chucky for me and Candyman close second for the fourth spot
A group picture of the puppet master puppets
I'd argue Ghostface could be the forth mainly down to influence. I feel that each candidate needs to have had a a huge influence on what makes a slasher a slasher in that characters era.
Micheal Myers was the first successful silent masked killer. None of the others would exist without him.
Jason was the first slasher pop culture phenomenon. His character is well known even to people who don't watch his movies. And he's in more than movies.
Freddy was the first slasher with personality. He can be scary, but he can be funny.
Chucky doesn't feel as ground breaking as the others. Aside from making the concept of a normally harmless object (like a doll) becoming dangerous popular.
The scream franchise was the first self aware horror series. It had more humor than past slashers and the characters knew about horror tropes and applied them to the plot. It revitalized the genre and inspired a lot of modern horror.
You ruled out ghost face because it's always a different person under the mask. I'd argue that's Ghostface's biggest strength. ANYONE can be Ghostface. I couldn't be an escaped mental patient with zero personality. I couldn't be an undead Hulk. I couldn't be a dream monster or a possessed toy. But all I need to be Ghostface is order his mask and a big knife of amazon.
Thank you. I second this post.
Leatherface
Michael Myers’s in his first appearance had a more realistic yet ominous vibe, like it could really happen but you still question if he’s super human / pure evil.
Jason has that fantasy killer archetype. A man coming back from the dead through mystical powers
Freddy was unique in that he strikes in your dreams where you are vulnerable.
For the fourth spot I’m conflicted, I think chucky is iconic, has lasted the test of time, and has been copied but to no success.
Or jigsaw, he has a very different type of fear, the feeling of being trapped and the guilt we have for the things we have done, he’s in a realm of his own, or at least it’s something I have never seen before him.
Leatherface over Chucky due to the fact that he doesn't say anything and his large physique. In fact, that makes Freddy the outlier of the group. I have respect for Chucky, but I'd just as soon put the Leprechaun in his place lmao.
Also Jason, Leatherface, Freddy and Michael Myers have been Mortal Kombat DLC characters, so I'm considering that an unofficial criteria.
@@DanielHenrionMyers was not a dlc character. I understand why people put leather face as their 4th but Chucky has always been my 4th. He’s unique while being iconic and recognizable. And his movies are way more consistent than leather face’s. Not hate to Bubba and his fans but he just doesn’t do it for me.
I didn't even know they were building one.
To me it's ghost face. It's more about what ghost face represents. Jason is Jason (unless it's Roy I guess), Freddy is Freddy, and Michael is Michael. The ghost face persona is one that could be anyone. It might be your boyfriend or your cousin, or your illegitimate brother. The persona of ghost face is stronger than the characters who took it on.
well i had all 3 in mind. and im not a michael meyers fan at all or ghost face {scream} but i cant deny their legacy, im glad you picked chucky but i thought ghost face fit better. hes like the last president that got put on. you could go out at Halloween and NOT help but see a dozen or more scream costumes and variations. same with freddy and jason. so i still am picking my brain in that aspect as to "on halloween in the 90s/early 2000's what horror costumes did you see the most?" and i would love some answers if anyone sees this!
I would say Ghostface, although it is more of an idea. If it must be a specific individual, I guess Leatherface, even though Chucky has a strong argument in his favour too.
Personally i would pick the xenomorph, but probably that would be too much of a stretch.
Great picks!!
Out of all the movies you mentioned, I think the only one I've watched is the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Also, no mention of Puppet Master?
I've been watching JJBA Part 3 with my dad and sometimes it feels like every masculine 80s movie rolled into one, including horror. Heck, there's an arc with a killer doll, an arc where the enemy tries to kill them in their dreams, and much more.
Haha Puppet Master actually popped into my head too at the start of the video.
I mean Dio is a vampire.
Could we add the xenomorph? In its heyday, people were said to be running out of theaters screaming, it has a terrifying method of introduction, and is the terror icon that all people think of when it comes to aliens.
Personally I considered him an action movie star with aliens vs predator.
More of a sci fi villain.
Ghost face, I get bubba was before the rest but if you ask someone on the street who they think of as a slasher after the big 3, they’d probably say ghost face. Ghostface has a film every 2-10 years.
Chucky gets shoved under the rug in these debates I've noticed but child's play 1-2 and bride of chucky were all bangers and the Scream franchise has had some solid sequels as well but then we have leather face with only the one movie holding his whole legacy together.
While I do agree with Chucky taking the 4th spot for the reasons you mention' but Leatherface is just as famous and without him we might not have the others?
So it should go in this order if were adding Leatherface:
1.Leatherface
2.Michael Myers
3.Jason Voorhees
4.Freddy Krueger
You should watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 3, decent film and way better than the matthew mcconnaughay one.
To me it's ghost face because he is so iconic. As a child you look at Halloween masks and his was more frequent than even the other big three members
I can remember every kid I knew at one point or another was Scream/Ghostface for Halloween
You should watch new york ripper or Maniac. There One of my favorite slashers of the 80s
My opinions would be the fourth place of iconic slashers It will be Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Technically there was Jedidiah Sawyer, Thomas Hewitt, that kid from Leatherface 2017, so if Ghostface doesn't count because there's more than one then Leatherface shouldn't count either.
To me, it's a 3-way tie between Chucky, Leatherface, or Ghostface
Id go 4-Chucky, 5-Ghostface , 6-Leatherface. Chucky has terrified generations of kids for how creepy his design is haha. Ghostface for the reason you gave and the mask is really memorable. 6th for Leatherface because the random person probably wouldn’t recognize him .
It's gotta be either Chucky or Ghostface.
Chucky because of how he was considered to be the last *big* slasher villain before the 80s ended.
Ghostface because of how influential Scream was to the slasher genre during the late-90s to early 2000s.
Victor Crowley should be up there with them
The original Texas chain saw Massacre is the greatest horror movie in my opinion.
Honestly though idk if I would put him on the Rushmore with them because the others are goofy to me, Micheal not included. If Freddy and Jason are on something it should be with Chucky and ghost face. Leatherface and Micheal are too good for the like us of the others.
I would pick the same 4 that you did.
I would see it as Freddy. MM, leatherface and Jason would be the first three.
I totally agree. Chucky is the obvious 4th and final on the Mt. Rushmore.
it's LEATHERFACE, MICHAEL, JASON, FREDDY!. that's it. ghostface, chucky, pinhead, no. there are OTHER things for them, Money, soda. yes, Norman bates could be on, but the main BIG FOUR SLASHERS are Leatherface, Michael, Jason, Freddy. that's how it's always been.
Hey Real Life, Pinhead has such sights to show you bud.
He’s an explorer, from the furtherest region of experience.
Hey there, Ryan! Have you seen Golden Boy yet? You should review it . That anime is very educational and the english dub is hilarious.
The original TCM is my favorite horror movie of all time but Chucky seems like a better fit. TCM continuity is so disjointed that Leatherface is functionally like Ghostface.
Ghostface, Michael , Freddy, and leatherface.
Hard to pick between Leatherface and Ghostface for me. Leatherface is classic but it's hard to get more slasher than Ghostface.
I think it’s a tie between ghost face and leather face
Nice to hear a knowledgeable opinion on slashers. I'd argue "slasher movies" are defined by being produced between 1970-90. The hayday being late 70s to mid 90s. The films typically center around a group of young people being murdered by a masked or monsterous(human) figure. Gratuitous gore & nudity is usually featured and was expected by the audience.
Slasher movies were dead by 1990. 'Scream' made it socially acceptable to watch a slasher because it mocked slashers, because "we all know slasher movies are silly. And you're smart.....RIght?!?"
As a horror fan at the time, it was insufferable.
Leatherface was the OG, carving up hippies in rural America. Leatherface also reps for all the backwoods slasher movies. In the 70s & 80s, Texas Chainsaw was synonymous with slasher movies and should definitely be one of the Big 4.
Sorry, but Bride of Chucky is the standout in that series and it's not a Slasher. It was cashing in on Scream's success. 😅
at this point it has to be Ghostface
Duh, it's Leatherface, it's really a no brainer.
Leatherface or Pinhead (Doug Bradley)
A trio is more iconic than 4.
Gold silver bronze, Batman Superman Wonder Woman
GM, Ford, Stellantis
I’m not voting because of that opinion but leather face is one of the scariest because he’s big big guy sprinting faster than you while swinging a chainsaw.
I like Ghostface, but I'd give the 4th spot to Chucky. More consistent and lasted a lot longer than it had any right to.
LEATHERFACE!!
Personally it's chucky for me. Jason and chucky were my gateway to horror. Friday part 6 and Child's play 3 were my first ever horror films I saw as a child. So my mount Rushmore is
Michael
Jason
Freddy
Chucky
Can not wait for the child play retrospective.
Make a video on slasher movie girls. Rank the last girl survivor or the hottest one across slasher movies.
Michael
Jason
Freddy
Ghostface
Mine was always Chucky.
Art the clown is the best one.
No doubt Leatherface
To me the 4th one will always be Chucky.
Classic movie monsters
Frankenstein Dracula Creature The mummy
Boom period
Freddy jason michael leather face
Down period (1998-2013)
Billy the Puppet Ghostface Leslie Vernon Sam
Modern
Pennywise (2017) Art the clown Megan
Probably either Ghost face or Leather Face
If its specifically a Slasher Rushmore, it should go Norman Bates or Leatherface
He's in every frame of this video yet somehow you missed the most prolific slasher horror villain of all: Godzilla
Godzilla's not a slasher.
@@dyloniusofsparta yes he is
@@DanielFiala, no knife or blades, not human and never was, doesn't stalk people and kill one by one. Godzilla is a monster, not a slasher.
@dyloniusofsparta slashers aren't all humans. Jason is a zombie. Chucky is a doll.
Also if the teeth on Leatherface's chainsaw count as blades than Godzilla's teeth count too
@@DanielFialaJason was human before he was a zombie, Chucky was human before transferring his soul into a doll, the teeth on a chainsaw are made of metal and require sharpening like any blade and Godzilla's teeth are organic, like your teeth. Godzilla is part of the Kaiju universe not the slashers of the 70s, 80s and 90s. You're wrong.
It would obviously be Leatherface
What about Candyman?
Leatherface.
For me it’s Chucky
Yea when I seen the thumbnail I thought of Pinhead, but yea you’re right he’s not a slasher. And Jigsaw doesn’t actually kill people, directly.
Norman Bates
we need a ghost
We do NOT need the lore for Art The Clown
Ghostface. This should be obvious.
Alien (xenomorph)
Are they considered slasher tho?
Love the horror content bud
My list is Jason,Freddy,Leatherface,and Ghostface
Chucky is boss,I will give you that.
Thank you!
It's Leatherface, you all know it.
Griffith
Victor Crowley
The only right answer is Scream
Death from the Final Destination series
Good one!
So just a blank spot?
Leatherface, Jason, Micheal Myers, and Ghostface.
L ghost face
ehhh freddy def got to be on there
Basket Case. I'll hear nothing else.
Lol great movie
JIGSAW / PUPPET
Leatherface....or Pinhead.
The Predator/Yautja?
before watching the vid, maybe chucky?
Chucky
I like how when you said there are really only 3 options I knew exactly who they were.
CHUUUUCKY!!!!!!
👻
Art the clown within a few years
Chucky for sure.
Cape fear lol
Ghostface
O.J. Simpson
I would go with Chucky many sequels personality and equally recognizable
Definitely ash on the 4th spot fo
Ash isn't a slasher villian
@@jeremypaden5857he’s a slasher hero
