Not horror, but Martian Scorsese, tarintino, or satoshi kon would be cool
Tone Hooper for sure. I’m starting to watch his filmography and he’s becoming one of my favorite horror directors.
Idk if you like their work or have seen many of their movies but cronenberg or lynch would be cool
Well since I just watched
/l l l l l\
for the first time the guy who
directed that classic movie.
I do know the guys name
but I want to see if Ryan can
guess the movie and director
without more hints.
I completely agree, “Big Trouble in Little China” is absolutely brilliant, I love that movie so much.
That's a John Carpenter film?
Its a classic!
Halloween is a masterpiece
Oh my God he didn’t already have a star? That’s shocking.
You didn’t binge watch them…..
You just put on the glasses
Hollywood walk stars are paid for. Literally anyone could buy one, but I agree his icon should have been a thing
Big trouble will always be my fav out of his filmography
Big Trouble in Little China was also one of the biggest inspirations for Mortal Kombat
I think a Rob Zombie version of this would be fun.
What a great list. In the Mouth of Madness and Prince of Darkness and Big Trouble are so fun. It's too bad I know literally zero people who have seen these movies. Underrated gems.
So no Elvis starring Kurt Russell as Elvis? Also apparently Somebody’s Watching Me is pretty good.
Christine is the most underrated film because I’m a huge Stephen King fan. When I watched it the first time it was crazy and I wanted to view it after I heard from the book the car played Foreigner.
Cool tier list. Thanks man.
Carpenter’s best films are Halloween, The Thing, Christine, Halloween 2 (I count it as a Carpenter movie because he wrote it, did reshoots and I’m fairly certain had his hands all over it), In the Mouth of Madness & Big Trouble in Little China in my opinion.
Ghost of mars and vampire are shot very similar I think about the scene where the people on mars are mutilating themselves and the way it’s filmed it really reminds me of a scene from vampires when the main vamp and his crew are like preparing to fight.
Great ranking. The Thing is my favorite movie of all time and Big Trouble in Little China is my 3rd favorite film of all time.
What’s number 2?
Yeah Escape From New York is way better. It’s way better than The Fog for sure. Also I’ve always seen the Fog as a summer horror as opposed to a Halloween horror.
I’ve got still got a good chunk of his films to see since I want to see his “Golden Age” (70s and 80s) before watching his stuff from the 90s and 00s but here’s my ranking so far:
1. The Thing
2. Big Trouble in Little China
3. Escape From New York
4. They Live
5. Halloween
7. Prince of Darkness
8. Christine
9. Assault on Precinct 13
10. Starman
11. Dark Star
As great as Halloween is, when John Carpenter works with Kurt Russell and/or Keith David some of the greatest art in cinema history is created
You madman... can't wait!
I loved The Thing and The Fog
Dope video! Love John Carpenter!! The Thing is my favorite movie of all time. Prince of Darkness is definitely under rated. Dope soundtrack.
yo ryan can we get a christine retrospective please? love that movie and love your retrospectives man!
1. Big Trouble 2. Halloween 3. The Thing 4. Christine 5. Starman 6. Escape from New York 7. The Fog 8. They Live 9. Assault on precinct 13 10. Vampyres
Did you see the original "Village of the Damned" from the 1960s? That movie is a masterpiece!
Content made for Kings by Kings
John Carpenters Vampires is definitely the movie of his I've watched the most for some reason. I love that flick. James Woods is the man in that movie.
Halloween and The Thing are Masterpieces but so is Masters of Horror Episode Cigarette Burns which is a hr long tv Horror Film made by Carpenter for Showtime 20 yrs ago.
George A. Romero next ?
I second this
I agree with some of your picks and disagree with some, it's kinda 50/50.
For me, Escape from New York is a masterpiece while movies like They Live and Big Trouble are just okay.
In the Mouth of Madness is amazing though. I would rank it as one of his masterpieces. It's neck and neck with Silence of the Lambs as the best horror movie from the 90's.
For some reason I always think that The Warriors (1979) was also directed by John Carpenter.
If you like Christine, you should read the Stephen King novel its based on. Such a good book
I totally understand this ranking, ESCAPE FROM NY is a favourite but most of my friends find it a bit boring
I suggest doing a review of Cigarette Burns its a masterpiece to me. Starring Norman Reedus and Udo Kier. It is FREE ON TUBI app.
The show was hour long horror films from names Like Carpenter or Landis or Argento. Solid 💪
I always viewed Vampires as more of a Western Horror Action movie.
John used Kurt in a few different movies, I never noticed that before.
Tierlist, lets go!
I have never seen any of those movies, nor am I a movie fun in the first place, but I still enjoyed this vide.
missing out on a lot of fun
If halloween was stand alone and not followed by so many poopy sequels I'd like it more
REALWETRYAN 😏
Bookmarking for later.
They live is definitely cultclassic material
There was no walk of fame star for John Carpenter yet? 😂
you lookin cute as hell bro, another good vid
😳
Even big trouble in little china?
Do you read Solomon Cane?
You lost me at Vampires. That's actually a good movie and John Carpenter's hidden gem. Saying Ghost of Mars is better is just an insult. I would rate it way below Starman. James Wood is badass as the leader of the vampire hunters and Thomas Ian Griffith is quite intimidating as the head of the vampires. That massacre at the hotel is shocking and terrifying.
So what is the proper way to say the title of one of his movies, can you just say they live and vampires? Or do you need to say John carpenters vampires and John carpenters they live? I feel like it’s the ladder.
I’m gonna assume you mentioned the Hollywood walk of fame, because I sent it to you on X. If not, then just lie.
