*”Now the key with lubing is that LESS IS MORE”*
Hahah ik this
Lmao yes
more is less :v
Ok thank you “more is less”
@Vacuum Cleaner exactly why would they make it so confusing its so dumb
Should've renamed this video, "How to decrease your insanity".
How to decrease your insanity without painting the springs with lube. (I first knew about this from Hamaji Neo, though never knew how to properly do it lol.
Just painstakingly lubed and filmed 30 switches before I decided I needed to look up a tutorial. The bag method for the springs is genius. And I'm realizing that I'm definitely overlubing.. well, you live and you learn.
Hey! We all have to start somewhere! Hope this video helped!
i just painstakingly lubbed 15.....
I find it more therapeutic to lube switches for a long time. It's satisfying to see the lube evenly coat the stem.
Finally I found a tutorial that really shows what’s what and where’s where
My recommendations for anyone lubing is: size 2 brush, metal switch opener, 4-prong jewelry holder, bag lube springs with GPL 105. Don't get lube in the plastic tubes as it's hard to work with. Go for a glass jar instead (explained below). Only shop I know that sells them in glass jars is Divinikey.
If your lube is stuck to the side of the jar, preheat oven to 190F, put glass jar in for 5 mins. Take out then lightly tap it repeatedly on counter until the lube falls into the jar. Put in freezer for 2 mins to flash cool it, take it out and should be good to work with.
BT you're really anchoring yourself down in the keyboard community, unlike some other reviewers who just think mechanical=good you're going very in-depth with the lubing and keycaps and all that jazz, keep up the work bro. 🙌 🙌 🙌
Dude, thank you so much for the video. Nobody ever takes the time to explain while they show as you did.
I honestly don't try to rush this process and think of it as a therapeutic way to rewind and relax. It's nice to have some lofi in the background when you do this too.
Keep it up BT! Loving all the content coming from you uwu. Cant wait to build my first mech following your tutorials
Thanks for making a video like this, I wanted to lube my switches but didn’t know how
for a newbie like me it was very easy to understand everything what you said, great explanation
This is a godsend. Literally about to lube my Gateron black inks. Wanted an updated tutorial. Thank you!
How do the black inks feel? I’ve been thinking of getting some
@@bongotoucan7913 Very smooth and very well weighted. Definately top 5 linears
@@callumlove9936 what else is in the top 5, and how do you feel about gateron clears
@@localito983 In no particular order: Tealios, JWKs (Alpacas, Mauve, etc.), NK Creams, Vintage Cherry MX Black. All of them benefit from lube, all but the Creams benefit from films. Though, that really depends on how tight the housings are.
Can you make more tutorials like this! Like doing the cutting of your stabs! I'm looking on getting into building mechanical keebs a lot and these would help so much. Keep up the work man!
just watch taeha types' tutorial
Im about to start lubing my switches and that bag idea looks genius!
I don’t know if this is something anyone else noticed but BT has nicely manicured and moisturized cuticles, can’t say the same about other keyboard youtubers with their scraggly nail closeups lol
this was so nice and slow omg, i feel like people always speed through lubing tutorials
For what it's worth, the TX stem holder is just a clutch pencil.
This is by far the best switch lube guide ive seen , thanks
Thanks for watching!
updated lubing vid with films 👍🏼 great tutorial BT
1:21 mans is teasing me
keep the amazing content coming!
zip bag luber:" 5 mins, take it or leave it"
Badseed tech looks like the glorious logo
90% sure that you're on the wrong channel lmao
@@jeyhuan9194 or he’s just posting it here to see if he can get likes cuz haha youtuber is funny marketing man
I thought the same thing, you where first thought so respect.
What that's actually true I never even noticed
And btw I'm mobile keyboard sounds like a cherry mx blue that is only like 20% quieter
Just lubed and spring swapped my first set of switches without a switch opener. It took me 8 hours... Worth every second...
Bag lubing springs work best with less viscious lube. Oils like krytox 105 or 107. For grease, I would say 3203 is the max you can go. 205g0 can work but you have to use more to get the best result and that is very wasteful.
Also do not lube all springs at once. Put in a few at a time. You do not want a tangled mess.
If I bag lube 70 springs, how many drops of Krytox 105 do I need?
I find I'm happy with just lubing my stems manually, and bag lubing the springs. Without having to lube the bottom housing I am able to cut the time in half. As an added bonus I haven't ended up with any switches that feel like they've been overlubed. A board I lubed this way ended up feeling and sounding exactly like a fully lubed board after a week of break in.
I actually use a small 2" x 2" x 2" container instead of a bag. I get better re-use out of it which wastes less lube.
Chris Lee what is the “proper” lube to use for bag lubing method , I’ve seen some do it with super lube oil and others with krytox or Christo lube , but is there a ratio you use ?
Great content Brandon, I'm never going back to unlubed switches
This is an excellent presentation. Thank you. :)
Another great way to lube the springs is if you buy a set of TX Springs they come with a tray for oiling, as well as some spring oil. You just put a spring in each hole and put a drop of oil in all the holes, then take out the springs and put them back in the switches. I did this with my 87 Gateron inks for my TKL build and it worked great and saved a lot of time comparatively to brush lubing each spring.
very informative title i have learned it very well now
Great video my guy👑👑
love your vids, they are SOOOOO helpful four a beginner like me.
This is pretty much how I lube my switches but I just do them one at a time and paint the spring top and bottom by hand like you used to. I may try the spring bag thingy thanks!
Also I would recommend a Lube station, just allows for you to layout all the switches opened and organised
BT, clutch timing, I have some Roselios that need lubing
I've got some roselios switches as well that I'm gonna be swapping onto my anne pro 2! do you know if the filming technique would work with them as they are from zeal?
I needed this
awesome video man thanks for the help
Just grabbed some of these for my first keyboard, I went with the deskey films and stabilizer pads since I got my switches also from primekb. Excited to my first board, went with the NJ80, had to have a volume knob lol
thanks for the info!
Literally just got some switches in and you post a video. Legend!
your voice is so nice it almost made me fall asleep
dude i love this guy
Appreciate you mrED
Thanks for your tips.
I read that lubing the touching part between the top and bottom housing would prevent the "crackyness" of the switches.
Basically, instead of using the film you just "paint" it. I have to test yet, but seems like an actually good idea
this video made me really uncomfortable. "you just wanna... *s i g h*...wipe it right there"
looool same really long pauses
Nice vid man.
I’d recommend to also lube the bottom part of the stem. ie: the area where silent “pads” would be located.
I have never lubed before but I was thinking that cause it’s a part that always brush up against each other
I want to get my hands on some alpacas so damn bad. now i have to wait until the end of May...
Question, why not just use GPL 105 for the springs? Squzze few drops into the bag and drop your springs in and just give it a good shake. I feel like even the paste covers the entire bag, it wouldn't get that much on the springs that way
So this may just get lost in the comments, but I've recently combined the housing of the zilent aqua switches with the spring and stem of the halo trues that came with my board. After lube and film, they have a very satisfying deep click that's reminiscent of holy pandas :)
Hey brandon, have you heard of the spray lubing method?
What's the longevity of lubing switches? Over time, do they build up dust and gunk? Is there another process to remove, clean and relube them after a while? Thanks for the awesome videos!
Wont need re-lubing for years, up to 3-5 :)
Thank you for this Video it really helped us out, we just posted up our first keyboard build on our yt page :) it was fun
Can you make a video on lube, what the differences are between all the options...?
do a review on the mousepad Esports Tiger LongTeng HuoYun Special Edition its a awesome pad like a smooth mp510
You sorta do have to lube the top housing for the best feel and sound.
Hey man can you compare the g wolf Skoll and the glorious model O
Will the films work on gatearon yellows?
Yo Brandon, can you do a video comparing Zowie mice to there newer and lighter counterparts? I just would like your opinion on them and if Zowie mice can still compete even though there heavier than lot of similar mices.
its really all about opinion, lighter doesn't necessarily mean better, its just usually more preferred for low sens low dpi players, as its easier to flick, theirs really good players that dont play with ultra lightweight mice, ultra light is what the meta is shifting towards, at the end of the day its all preference(i use a model D). hope this helps you or anyone passing by.
I have used tx films on most of the zeal switches without issues (sakurios, zealios, tealios v2, Turquiose). I know they don't fit on holy panda variants. I have heard they don't fit NK creams. I have seen other people say that the kebo films are thinner and might fit some that the tx ones don't, but no first hand experience with those.
kebo is thinner and do work better with creams imo
Using kebo films on my zealio v2s as we speak, seems alright so far.
I already have a decent switch opener but now I want another... Do you get any kickback? If you do I'll buy another lol (I may anyway)
Aren't springs supposed to be lubed with 105 oil and not 205g0 grease?
for us european people, do you know if we can import things like the switch opener, the lube, etc?
I'm new to the world of mechanical keyboards and am considering getting a Ducky One 2 RGB TKL. If I were to replace the keycaps with the coloured ones that come in the box would I need to lube anything?
Found your channel today btw and absolutely love your style.
@@bendisney9631 Thank you! Is that the same for swapping out the space bar? I should have put that in the original comment sorry
@@bendisney9631 Thank you for the help!
Ben Disney I have never seen a bigger newbie in my life 😂
is it bad to have Cherry MX browns? I'm getting into the hobby but I don't know why people hate browns? is it cuz the Tactility?
also should I lube my Brown switches?
Use a binder clip to hold the stem,
do you think g-lube is good i bought some and was wondering if it is on par with krytox
I ended up 3D printing my switch openers for a couple cents a piece. 😁
same
Thanks for the free two months of skill share :)
Pls do a sound test with the alpacas switches thx
Basically 1 time i saw a film on the thing u put on the switch and i played around with it and basically ripped it apart i didnt k ow that till this day
"It will drive you crazy lubing these for 3 hours..."
Bold of you to assume I only take 3 hours to lube my keyboard
Man the only thing keeping me from lubing my switches is the de-soldering. The crazy thing is I'm certified in soldering and I still can't bring myself to do it 😂.
Depending on your switch it’s really worth it
I purchased NK Creams with self lubricating pom
Does this mean they are already lubed?
NOW WE JUST GOTTA DO THIS 80 MORE TIMES WOO
You want to speed your lubing time? Get a lube station and use micro applicators (and keep bag lubing springs but use oil)
i just spray mine with dry wd 40 and works like a charm
Underrated and under appreciated comment
you can get a switch opener for like 2 dollars on aliexpress or ebay
@Keithava that might be the case in the us but here in Australia shipping from aliexpress is crazy cheap
@Keithava hmm must be different where you live
I ordered RO-59tmKT instead of crytox because of stock. Is there any difference between them?
So it is bag lubing ? I know that your auditory is not just enthusiasts :P checheche. But still good video you have so nice bright lights :) Maybe I should invest in camera gear before going more into keyboars so I could also make some sexy content :D I am probably will start to saving money for camera gear
If you have zeal switches should you still lube them
Wow that super tiny amount of lube you put in the bag was too much 😬. Good thing I found this video before attempting this.
The switch opener works for Halo Trues?
Where you get that brush from that had the rubber grip??
Can I lube them in keyboard?
Will the key opener work with any switch??
How many time do you lube a switches?
you can definitely film zeal switches.
I can't find any lube anywhere. Do you guys know a place where it has stock of 205 g0?
Spray lubing?
when I'm too lazy, I just bag lube stems and spring all with krytox 105 oil, its smoooooth.
Well I should have watched this before lubing my switches... YIKES definitely used too much lube and lubed it unevenly.
how many springs for bag method?
I've had many in the community tell me that bag lubing with 205g0 or 3204 is not recommended, as it's just too thick. How did it work out for you, though?
You can, but using a thin lube is recommended as it results in a more even coat
won't switch film spoil RGB?
Does this work with novelkey cream?
Wow cool
The bag lubing method works a lot better with oils.
No sound test?
