    Hey it's ok buddy,
    We're snowed and blown out of the timber till the roads get opened up so every morning sitting here in the Kitchen, being warmed by the wood stove, looking out the window at the snow covered Mountains, enjoying a nice leisurely breakfast, sipping on my hot cup of Morning Thunder tea, visiting with the wife and son watching you out falling up there is a good day for me.
    May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and a Safe prosperous New Year Buddy.

    All Bjarne's posts are very interesting, how each tree is felled with the thought of helicopter recovery, "Team Work at its best".

    Pretty cool to watch you face up a tree and see your partner drop one behind you. Merry Christmas. Stay safe.

    How many trees can you fell and buck on a single tank of gas?

  • @elemental4rce
    @elemental4rce Год назад

    Bjarne, Do you ever just do a small cut either side of the hinge to minimise tear out as the tree pulls off the stump? it's a popular european technique, i don't know if you've tried it on your trees or not but it could helped potentially save out more wood if it does work.

    • @k_froggy
      @k_froggy Год назад

      Most people over here cur out the middle of the hinge and just leave the 2 edges

    • @elemental4rce
      @elemental4rce Год назад +3

      @@k_froggy we call them wing cuts when climbing but it's for a different purpose in that situation. On the ground you just do it to sever the bark/cambium to stop it tearing up first couple feet of the stem when it falls.
      In climbing we do wing cuts when dropping the tops to make the top leave the stump smoother (especially on stringy woods) so we don't get thrown about so much when the top goes over.

    Taking our Creator's name in vain is not cool at all, but a violation of God's third commandment.
    “You must not misuse the name of the LORD your God. The LORD will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name." Exit 20:7
