Very interesting lecture. If one accepts that culture leads the law and not the other way around, then the question is whether Church law must follow culture in order to be relevent over time.
I think Church law is ment to guide the culture. We come up with new cultural practices with time and the Church is tasked that our focus is always on the glory of God. Just as God is infinite so are the ways to worship him. Thus the cultural form in many ways don't matter per-say, but the substance is necessary to be maintained otherwise we lose what is most important, Glorifying God.
If that is the case then Scripture becomes irrelevant and subject to culture. Actually, this theorem is morally backwards but it is accepted by those who are worldly. For those who see that the world espouses the devil and flesh and this modernism is just a worldly puppet they see this evil.
Well done, Father!

Theology is not simply known by divine revelation. It is also reasoned. Theology is itself the queen of the sciences, with inspiration at its centre.
Sorry to disagree. Theology is the study of God and is very much divine Revelation. It is very definitely NOT reasoned. That eould be heretical.
