This set up should have come in the monster trucks to begin with those damn things are so slow they can barely hit a jump taller than themselves. Traxxas is always happy to sell you a solution to a problem they create 😅
That will never happen. Traxxas always uses cheap (but usually "usable" ) electronics, banking on you getting frustrated into upgrading with even more expensive upgrade parts, doubling the price pretty quick. They will NEVER make a perfect RC. They will always have weak points. This is coming from someone who's fleet is over 50% Traxxas. I just rip out most all of the stock electronics from the start. I might run the stock steering servo for a bit, but the rest MUST GO!
I just finished the install on my F 150 MT. Pulls wheelies now. So much faster. It finally acts like a monster truck. I knew I should have ordered 2 of them. You can't beat plug and play. Cheaper options are out there but... 15 minutes and 2 buttons, I'm pulling wheelies on vinyl flooring. Pricey, yes. Is it worth it? I should have got 2. Great video.
I installed the traxxas brushless power system in my Trx4m F150 High Trail today. Mine has the Treal brass knuckles,c hubs and rear counterweights. I think it is an awesome upgrade. I did use the crawler gears since I only have the single speed transmission but easy to do and worth every penny for myself.
Hopefully you get your hands on the new Hobbywing mini24 combo! There are much more features and tunings on the Hobbywing. Traxxas combo is too expensive and no ability to tune
THE 1/10 TRAXXAS HIGH TRAIL SPORT IS RUNNIG LIKE A.. DREAM ....HAVE BEEN DRIVEING VERY HARD IN WATER. ROLLING DOWN HILLS , KEEPING IT STOCK ........THANKS FOR ALL YOU GREAT WORK
I agree with you about the simplicity on keeping it all Traxxas as compared to the other aftermarket companies for the TRX4M. Thanks for a good video. 👍
I have a heavily built Bronco I call Overkill. I put this brushless setup in it and I love it. My only concern is the motor gets extremely hot to the point you can't touch it. I know it's because of the weight of my Bronco. I wonder what the longevity of this motor will be like
I just installed this yesterday and the low speed is great on flat ground, but I have an extreme amount of cogging when the obstacles get steep (with the high-speed gears). Other than that, the speed and the fact that it is waterproof and plug-n-play is awesome.
Did you have to make any other updates (like metal driveshafts or axle gears)? I’m looking to do the same thing to a TRX4MT and wondering what else I would need beyond just the motor and ESC. Have the 2 speed transmission but everything else is stock.
I like them because they are drop in replacement no janky install with other brands. idc about having a different radio and battery the stock stuff is fine. Just think $120 is way to much considering a sidewinder 3 system is the same price
@@neongecko3065 You hit the nail on the head. The stock crap is "fine" not good, especially for the price. ALWAYS under powered though. Plus when you upgrade to something like this, you will NEVER upgrade to the good stuff, because they go outta their way to make sure it is not compatible with anything after market. For example: the rock light kits. They make them run off of 3.3 volts, so they will fry if you plug them into anything but Traxxas electronics(why else would they do it). Most people don't realize you can just use a micro buck converter, to dial in any voltage you want. Traxxas is banking on it
Wow! It’s impressive but that’s a bit high priced. The convenience does count for something but I’m not sure it’s worth that much. I’d have to test it myself first to see if there are really any true advantages. Awesome review as always.
1. I know it says in the manual it gets hot but for me it gets too hot to touch for 3 seconds when crawling at low speed. Is it the same for you also ? 2. Under load, when slowly accelerating I can feel ( at about 1/3 throttle ) a slight jerk like as the speed controller switches operating modes. It does not happen when suspended. Is it the same for you ?
im new to rc never touched the inside of one.i can remove screws lol do you think i would have any issues doing this mod??getting traxxas high trail or redcat ascent leaning towards the ascent but like the looks of traxxas better thanks for the video
Well, you don't have to replace your transmitter with this one so the price isn't that far off. You also get to keep the lighting functionality, you get an extra channel for when they inevitably drop a servo mount for the 2speed, and you don't have to find a place to mount a separate receiver... 🤷♂️
Injora now have multiple Brushless setups for the TRX4M, and Hobbywing have just released a Fusion Mini 16 and a brushless ESC and Motor for the TRX4M... All cheaper and will be 100% better than this Traxxas version. The only thing this Traxxas version will have is compatibility with their Pro light kit (by design to make you buy this Traxxas version)
Awesome video. I'm eager to see how it does under load compared to the Injora set, or even the Furitek Torpedo, as it's more in that price range. Did you by any chance do a submarine test? I admit I like crawling from rocks to mud. :)
Mine seams to cog a lot while crawling with the standard gears. I was hoping to have more wheel speed and good crawling but the Furitek and Injora both seem smoother.
I know im only 3 minutes and 51 seconds in the video, but is the motor waterproof? And can you put the munus two speed on it now that the Radio/receiver is different and has more Outlets
In the manual for this, they write that on channel 3 you can connect the shifting servo..Traxxas one! Unreleased yet. But you have to have the 3 channel TQIi controller, so another money to throw at it..
Really need to make sure you know the motor is what makes the noise, the firmware on the esc is what causes the loud whine but it is the motor that creates the noise even the beeps when you turn it on
Hey Adam I just installed this into my high trail with 2speed tranny also. Not sure if you noticed but my motor gets super hot just slow crawling around in 1st gear the slower gear.
Yikes that doesn’t sound right. It should be warm but not super hot. I would check for binding somewhere in your drivetrain. Transmission, wheel nuts, etc

I’m hoping you do another video on this with your impressions after giving it some use. Ordered one at the hobby shop today
I'm looking for a good trail truck for a housemate
1) Would you recommend the trx4m high trail?
2) If so, what upgrades from TRAXXAS do you recommend?
Misti recently got the red hardbody she will have definitely upgrade.
They knocked it out of the park compared to Axials attempt with the SCX24.
Definitely gonna do that to get rid of that brushed low throttle wine
I need that set up for my TRX 4M bronco
You really do
