No matter who is bassplayer or drummer or singer Tuomas and Emppu are the sound of the Nightwish.
Bass player in early days was Sami Vänskä (around Oceanborn album). In the first album Emppu did bass as well.
Oh I clicked on this so fast!! This performance has so much energy it's unforgettable. Tuomas, Emppu, Jukka, Sami and Tarja giving it their everything, their musicianship is exceptional. They're there for the music, and being there in the moment and it shows❣There's something special about seeing Tuomas and Tarja so in synch and Emppu has always been the glue to the band.
Thank you for this, glad you got to enjoy this performance and us getting to enjoy your reaction to it!

I always love going to the Nightwish wayback machine.
I must admit I get all giddy and excited every time I see Tuomas jumping forward and going BANANAS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 hyped by the energy around him, Tarja's vocals are flawless, everyone is pure power and I love it, another precious gem from the past.
PS: he might not be as flexible as back then but he still goes hard on certain songs, like Tribal and Pan

Yes, it's Fantasmic (short "i"), as in a mix between Fantastic and Fantasmos ("ghosts" in Spanish) - the lyrics fellow commentators put up for our perusal prove the intent was precisely that! Loved seeing this, by now, rare Live cut, and the brilliant band interaction - 2001 (the year, when I, incidentally, tripped over - and fell for - this band by lucky accident) was the first period of real harmony within the band, with them all relishing the company and the new kind of art they were making together. The early DVDs and Live cuts are endearing because of that - and also mind-boggling because of the advanced level of awesomeness on display!
Still, refreshing as this clip may be, you oughta listen to the full version of "Fantasmic", which is a solid epic of something around 8:30 minutes in duration! Here, we only get the energetic last part, which ties all the musical motives together... only in this arrangement, it is not clear what IS being reprised. :)) I strongly recommend a reaction to the album version, now that you are acquainted with the Live fireworks the young NIGHTWISH conjured in front of their adoring fans. \m/

Man, do I feel old now! 😂 I honestly didn't remember this one, but now I do and I remember also how long ago it was when I heard it the first time! Fun seeing Tuomas headbanging in front!
Oh man I've wanted you to do fantasmic forever but you really need to hear the whole studio version. Here half the song is missing . Basically this is the end of the song , so the whole build up and composition is missing and the song is 10+ minutes. I really hope you'll do the studio version as a reaction. It's one of my favorites.

Thanks Eric! I actually have no idea how to pronounce Fantasmic😆, but I'm a Finn so I'll pronounce the mic part how it's written... so the i is pronounced more like e in English.

Oh hells yeah , whenever I watch this , I actually forget about the music for a few seconds to take in Tuomas leaving his keyboards to take over the headbanging and make sure there is crowd engagement . So awesome ... the "whole" tune is epic

i looking and listening these reaction about nightwish thousands times and hear songs in radio 27 years. i never get boring nightwish songs ( almost same like older james bond movies ) i wonder why? then it come my mind. classical music ( mozart,beethoven ect. those makers song never get boring ) tuomas mix classical ofcourse this heavy and that makes every songs not boring ( not simply songs to ear ) thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
Yayyy Thank you! The bassplayer's name is Sami. Going back to 2001 you saw the true foundation of Nightwish, Tuomas and Emppu and their trusting and creative friendship
Tuomas said in one finnish book (2020) that his doctor told him his moshing days are over, but having seen him last tour, he is not really listeningo to that doctor. 😅
Tuomas plays air guitar with the best of them.
It does have the short I not the long one. Like fantastic. This is one of those opus songs Tuomas does on each of his albums. The whole song is not here just the third part. As it might suggest from the title. The entire song is just wonderful. It’s fun to see Tuomas come out from behind the keyboard

Sami Vänskä is the bass player, replaced by Marko Hietala in 2001. Did he disappear completely? Almost, but he came back on stage in 2016, giving Marko the opportunity to descend to the audience and watch how it is (smoking 🙂) to see Nightwish perform. Nightwish, Stargazers, (feat. Sami Vänskä) Live at Himos Park 2016, Floor early pregnant with Freya.

The first twenty minutes or so of this live DVD were fantastic, especially TPSTO! After that, the energy starts to fluctuate. I usually shut it down then. Back then, Nightwish only had two serious albums to fall back on, Angels Falls First being more like a demo. This song is in the part I don't usually listen to any more, but I do still like it. Thanks for reintroducing it to me!
I was at the concert it was at Pakkahuone in Tampere on the 29th December 2000. The bass player is Sami Vänskä. One of the best concerts I have ever been to. Great reaction, thanks for the upload

I'd liketo hear your thoughts on music from the first album, like Lappi or Know Why the Nightingale Sings, or maybe non-album songs like the eponymous Nightwish.
Also no live performances.

Toumas still can get very much into the music, with headbanging at hes keyboard, and other expresions, but he proberly would not go to front of stage like he did here, unless its time for a bow.. lol

I am so glad you've talked about Tarja being the driving force in a really understated way, I always felt that way about her, even later on when she had on those gorgeous gowns and what not. She was just equal to the other members of the band.
Also, I miss this Nightwish so badly. I feel Tuomas on the last several albums is kinda trying to out-grandiose himself, if it makes sense.

I must be honest - I don`t know who have decided to dive this song on parts but was asshole. Listening to this video is like starting sex from orgasm... BTW: this is my fav song of them (whole one).
Sami was hired after the demo. Emppu did both bass and guitar on it. Of course they hired Jukka. played until his health failed him. Tarja we all know her story. 3rd founder. Sami fired in 2001. He did not see eye to eye with Tuomas.

Everyone part of the magic. She never was one to have to be centre stage or a diva in the negative sense.
She has always been warm and friendly to fans and band mates alike.

when the band was a reference for other bands, when they differentiated themselves from the rest. NW 2001 was much better than NW 2024
