It's sad that these phones have to be forced to use the 5G modem. If the Note 20 was 800 it wouldn't be that bad. I don't know how well the Note 10 lite sold but maybe with a few more compromises and a starting price of $500-600 then it would be more of a compelling argument. I'll be holding of in buying a 5G until my current smartphone dies. Maybe in 4-5 years, 5G will be ubiquitous and affordable so it cost me an arm and an leg to jump onto the next generation of technology instead of the hype train or the current buzz worthy trend "I am suppose to be on".
@Arasu Filvendor I mean in 2019 Samsung was third and fourth for the most popular smartphones sold; it was the A10 and A50 that sold well. So if you make a plastic phone you have to price it for what people think it is worth it. The Note is supposed to be the premium line. Samsung, Please don't nickel and dime your customers.
I know, right? Like when did a glass phone that could shatter just by looking at it, become the standard. Remember when we used to worry about just the screen shattering. Well, now we have to worry about the entire phone shattering. These reviewers have been brainwashed into thinking that glass means premium. It's what's under the hood that matters, right?
@@chuckfriebe843 The problem was that people were complaining when Samsung was making plastic phones. The best selling Samsung were the S3 and S4 which sold about 70 million and 80 respectively. The S5 did terrible with only 40% of that number and then Samsung decided to move to a "premium" material; glass. Sales did better with the S7 and S8 and Samsung decided to stick with that design language. It seems like the rest of the industry saw that. So the rest of the industry followed. I think Samsung tried to keep the plastic look or the more rugged phone with their active line. There was an Active S6, S7, and S8. Apparently, this line never did so well so the Active line was dropped; there was no Active S9 or Active S10. I think the problem was that the Active line cost about $100 more which people could buy a $30 case and provide the same protection. These companies just make what people demand and apparently people like a sexy fragile phone yet probably 70% of those people also put a thick case on their phones. There is only a niche market of people who still enjoy the plastic phone or the removal battery. There are still phones out there like that but it no longer the flagship or the mainstream phone you find at your local store. The only exceptions are the mid-range phones that still use plastic; look at Samsung's A series.

You've used it for 2 weeks and that's fine. But if you were to use it long term, I think you'd find the lack of an SD card on a 128GB phone that costs $1000 unacceptable and a no-go. It seems like they intentionally gimped it to up the Note 20 ultra. All the others you could forgive and live without. But on a 4k camera 50MP photo phone, 128GB is nothing.

Thanks for the insightful review. I have a note 8 and am considering upgrading to a Note 20. I'm an S pen user, note taker, scribbler, amateur sketcher and amateur photographer. I use my stylus for work on a daily basis and use it to navigate my phone. Personally, I find the plastic back to be an asset. I always use a case with my phone and feel that there is too much hype around the glass back. Considering that I won't even look at a glass back, I prefer to have a lighter phone. I do think the phone is too expensive but there is no other phone on the market that meets my wants/needs and I'm certainly not willing to spend the extra money on a Note Ultra. Way too expensive. There really is no reason for any phone to be $1000 or more. Even with a glass back, wireless charging, or even the crazy camera arrays.
To top it off, the Galaxy Note 10+ is still priced at $6-700 on eBay rn. The Note 20 is basically priced the same so it makes sense to buy the note 20.

Very rare type of reviews as most of them go with the trend and keep bashing or praising things which won't actually matter to users in long run. Great work.
Considering most of the highend phones presented at the end were really highend and gave top notch specs during their time. A $1000 for such unit isnt justifiable. Great phones arent getting cheap, but cheap phones are getting better. There are a lot of phones aleeady with 5g and are below $800. The ultra maybe great but this one is a sure let down. And shouldn't be anyone's gadget match.
Even there is no price difference for me, because the company would also pay for the Ultra, I will get this note 20 version. All I need is a flat display. That's the only thing disturbing me on my Note 9, and I never play games anyway...it's a work phone.
I bough the note 20 5G last month for 655$ in Lebanon, with 256 GB memory, color Mystic Grey, it came with earphones included too, with 1 year guarantee. I can assure you it is the best phone i have ever purchased, amazing specs, screen resolution, battery life (10h screen ON time on a single charge, and if you enable Power Saving mode you add 3 hours to of screen ON time), the plastic cover feels great, i don't know why the hype is all about. Overall review, amazing phone to own
I have the note 20. I am in love with this phone and not in a relationship type way neither. I had the note 9 and that was already fast. With this 5g speed.... It blows the note 9 out the water.
The best Note 20 review on RUclips and probably one of the best tech reviews that I've seen lately. Liked and subscribed. Very useful to make my decision. And I have to say: this mystic green color is outstanding! No chance for the Ultra with this color.
I'd agree on many points that plastic back shouldn't be that much of an issue at all...thing is, it's $1000 and it's not the only cut that Samsung took for this model; there were a lot --big on some departments like the display at 60Hz.
Great video. I've seen open boxes for the Note 20 unlocked at Best Buy for $640 that were in great shape. If I was in the market I'd seriously consider it but I'm still enjoying (and paying) for my LG V60. The plastic back doesn't bother me as I'm usually using a case and I prefer the flatter screen versus curved.
Michael Josh Says: "I Wouldn't Says The Note 20 Feels Cheap That Would Be Unfair And Incorrect, I Will However Say That The Note 20 Ultra More Premium, And Even If I Put It Down And Replace It With The S20 The Glass Finish Gives It A More Premium Also." Yep! It's Not Cheap, It's A Rip-off.
In my country T&T flag ship phones price range are in the thousands up to $10.000.00 dollars in the past three years. You'll still have it really good though.
Again, a smartphone review with context and great points for people to Note (pun intended) if they aren't aware of the things driving phone prices up and the biases of the "specs" that people actually want versus what they realistically need. Great review!
One of the few things that excite me about the Ultra is 120hz. Not much reason to upgrade from my Note 9 otherwise. I only use my phone on FHD anyway. I need something new and exciting when I get a new phone. I think all phones should be made of plastic. They are lighter & more durable. The Note 20 proves plastic can look good. Glass is slippery & easily broken; irregardless if I always use a case.
This would have been a good phone if only it has a higher refresh rate. A higher refresh rate just makes everything extra smoother in the eyes. Don’t really care about the plastic back if it feels good in the hand. I only chose the ultra 5g because of the screen.
Watching from my Note 20 5g coming from a note 8 which dripped one time and shattered completely i bought a case for all my phones so have no problems with the 20 and the upgrade is night and day between both the 20 is a beast, maybe overpriced a bit but i got mines on a deal so no complaints!
this was my dad's old phone, yesterday i managed to convince him to give it to my younger brother because his phone was DEAD. he's happy. watching this to give him tips because he hates watching reviews and doesn't really speak english. love seeing my siblings happy, big sister win! 😌
Re: the glass plastic discussion, one good drop and the glass backed phone is heading down to the repair shop, not so the poly carbonate backed model, so which one is really the premium material? The cockpit cover on a military fighter jet, is it made of glass or poly carbonate ?
I like plastic backs but if they use it -- as they did with Note 10 lite -- price should be several hundred less. But three are many benefits to polycarbonate. Not at 999 though, imo
@@michaelcorcoran8768 No way on this earth is a Glass back worth several hundred , 50 bucks at the most imo , the note by its very nature of having the S pen means it must have the Wacom digitiser adding more cost over and above other non S pen devices , not too mention the other note features it does still have . Even though the screen is only 1080p it is still a quality samsung screen that many cheaper devices will not have , and that also includes water resistance , the full galaxy software suite , the dex function , they are all still there and cost samsung dollars to make , and are all features cheaper devices do not have .....apples for apples .
There will always be those individuals who buy into market wank . Glass backed is going to be a huge mistake . I put an otterbox on mine . I won't ever use a phone without a case . I run my company through my phone . I can't afford the phones construction being its only protection .
iPhone user here I switched from the note 8 both Apple and Samsung are great companies you can’t go wrong with either. My mom has the note 20 and she loves it have a good day everyone.
Very thorough video as always. I gave it a thumbs up. That being said, the title is a bit deceiving since your video is really a comparison between the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. I was truly wishing you were reviewing the Note 20 and it's features. Thanks for the clear, concise, professional videos. I will definitely continue to follow and enjoy your channel.
For me the S pen tops this phone over the s20 and other phones it's really impressive and important to me when I first got the note 8 but all in all a great phone really recommended
Fantastic production as always Mike! Love the content and quality editing! The Note 20 is a good buy for me because Samsung gives me $550 for my Note 9 for trade-in. They will only give me $250 for the Note 9 if I buy the A71, which then only brought the Note 20 within $100 difference to the A71. So, whether $1000 is overpriced or not, to me, the trade-in program makes it bearable.
@@13bonewacker In specs, it appear so. Believe me, I spent the last 3 weeks visiting Best Buys to compare and make sure. In real life, the Note 20's screen looks better than my Note 9's, brighter, bigger. And no matter how many time I switched back and forth on my Note9 from FHD÷ to WQHD+, I can not tell the difference. Since battery life is very important for me, if I get the Ultra, I would run it at FHD+ 60fps anyway. As far as the premium feel, no matter what phone I get, I have always had them inside a case. So in the past when I chased phones with special colors, I don't see it anyway. With those reasons, I am a good candidate for Note 20. 5G speed and reception in Houston does make a big difference vs LTE
michael josh, u are my go-to reviewer for new devices and u never fail to give substantial info. yes, why do we need a glass cover when we put another cover on top anyway. thanks for this. hope to get this phone after the lockdown in our country.
My biggest complaint is the lack of micro SD card storage. I wouldn't care if it was given the 256GB internal storage. For me it's a huge disappointment
When T-Mobile had their Note series sale, I traded in my iPhone XR for the Note 20. Trade in was $500 off, then T-Mobile provided me an additional $200 off; Note 20 cost me $300. Though the iPhone XR is a good device, served me well, was working perfectly as the day I purchased it I could not pass up T-Mobile's deal. Quite pleased with the Note 20, my first Android phone; yes I am very pleased with the switch to Android and Samsung Note.
Honestly the biggest reason I didn't buy the regular Note 20 wasn't the plastic or the screen, but the lack of expanded storage. I literally already have 70GB of music saved to my SD card on the Ultra because I live in an area with bad streaming quality.
I'm really considering sending my ultra back for the note 20. It feels better in the hands due to the flat display and it's a lil smaller. I don't mind plastic but I really wish it had 90 hertz refresh screen
I use an 11 pro as my main phone, but I also enjoy android and have just sold my S9, which is still excellent, and I'm getting an S10e as it's got a flat screen. The curved screen has lost its novelty value for me.
@@Gary0557 I feel u but I actually still like the curve screen just wish the note 20 ultra was a bit skinnier. 😁 I had the s10e as well. It's a great phone

Depending on regions Note 20 comes with 128gb and 256gb too. Note 20 Ultra with 128-256-512 the too. Note 20 can buy it cheaper than $1k, switch trade in or discount deals. Note 20 with 256gb can get between $700&850.
To be honest, I think it's pathetic that people's biggest gripe about this phone was that it was made of plastic & not because it came with 128GB with no expandable storage, even though most people are going to hold on to it for years to come. We have to stop thinking with such superficial things in mind.
My biggest complaint is the lack of expandable storage and only 128gb of storage. That's a real slap in the face and will keep be from buying this phone - even at a sale price. Samsung's decision to do this has driven me away from them for good. Producing a phone and overpricing it just to justify the price of another over-priced phone is just too greedy...
Note 20 is the best design but this is too expensive $1000! If this is $750 - $850, no one will complain. Anyway, how he placed all the green icon with green wallpaper, it looks dope!

Even there is no price difference for me, because the company would also pay for the Ultra, I will get this note 20 version. All I need is a flat display. That's the only thing disturbing me on my Note 9, and I never play games anyway...it's a work phone.
Well said lol
Well put
The fun part is both plastic and glass back cost about the same in the production... people are easy too fool. „More Premium“ is merely subjective.
The fact that they didn't even bother to fit Galaxy Note 20 with gorilla glass 6 at least.. the compromise was just too much
I bough the note 20 5G last month for 655$ in Lebanon, with 256 GB memory, color Mystic Grey, it came with earphones included too, with 1 year guarantee.
I have a Note 9 as well and its a monster phone for sure.....but like you I'm upgrading to the Note 20 too... still love my note 9 though.
This is the best review I have watched simple because it makes me feel that much better for not buying the ultra
10 months later how do you like your Note 20?
Absolutely awesome review. thank you
I traded in my cracked note 9 (which cracked on the glass back) and got the note 20 for a little over $700 with tax. Definitely worth it!
The best Note 20 review on RUclips and probably one of the best tech reviews that I've seen lately.
Liked and subscribed.
Very useful to make my decision.
And I have to say: this mystic green color is outstanding! No chance for the Ultra with this color.
The plastic back and flat screen are selling points for me. I paid $1000 for my S10 Plus and I'm sure the Note 20 performs better.
Such a great and unbiased opinion and review keep up the good work. I love that new green color
Unbiased? My ASS
Perfect job! The review I was looking for due to Note 20.
Excellent analysis, Great job!
I don't get why people care about the plastic back, do people not use phone cases?
Just bought this buy one get one, so it’s really only $500. Can’t complain about that
still watching from the Philippines with ❤️
Could you please tell me which one is best to buy Samsung Galaxy note 20 or Iphone 11
What an excellent video. Thank you Michael. Well done, great philosophy and practical information.
Liked & subscribed.
👍🙂🇨🇦
I'm getting this just because it's plastic. Im on the s9+ still. Great phone and the glass is perfect thanks to OtterBox lol
GO OTTERBOXXXX
Great review as usual and watching with my galaxy note 20... :) Thanks as always..
Thank you for this review, completely without hype. Just honest daily driver info.
This helps me along with my decision.
TBH, no phone is worth$1000+
Amen to that!
Michael Josh Says: "I Wouldn't Says The Note 20 Feels Cheap That Would Be Unfair And Incorrect, I Will However Say That The Note 20 Ultra More Premium, And Even If I Put It Down And Replace It With The S20 The Glass Finish Gives It A More Premium Also."
Yep! It's Not Cheap, It's A Rip-off.
In my country T&T flag ship phones price range are in the thousands up to $10.000.00 dollars in the past three years. You'll still have it really good though.
Webster Kollie laughs with 11 pro max 😂🤣
Were you starting to sing "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from Mulan? ❤️
I love that song lol
because mulan is coming out
Uwu
Lets get down to DMCA if I sing more of the lyrics
That’s what I was thinking i replayed it like 10x 😂
My note 20 have 258gb memory and 8gb ramm. So far, I'm happy with it.
are still happy? How do you like the camera?
I'm definitely considering it, especially with a price drop to $799
And when is the price dropping?
It dropped to 745. It was 645 until the taxes were on
Again, a smartphone review with context and great points for people to Note (pun intended) if they aren't aware of the things driving phone prices up and the biases of the "specs" that people actually want versus what they realistically need.
Great review!
This is a snappy and one of the best to the point reviews i have seen in a long time!!! Really pulled off nicely mate!!!!
Great review bro ..lm planning on buying this in 2022 April is it still okay
just got mine and this review certainly helped me feel good about my choice.
haha ive gote mine 2 days back too
what price did you get it btw
@@rakeshsaimakkena199 got mine at 40K pesos which is roughly $800. this is the dual-sim 256gb model with included earphones in the box.
@@cybesc ahh that's cool I've got mine for 760 dollars with similar accessories
This would have been a good phone if only it has a higher refresh rate. A higher refresh rate just makes everything extra smoother in the eyes. Don’t really care about the plastic back if it feels good in the hand. I only chose the ultra 5g because of the screen.
A brilliant review with a reviewer who does not talk too fast!!! Very many thanks
Watching from my Note 20 5g coming from a note 8 which dripped one time and shattered completely i bought a case for all my phones so have no problems with the 20 and the upgrade is night and day between both the 20 is a beast, maybe overpriced a bit but i got mines on a deal so no complaints!
The best review, i watched 10 reviews from many channels.gg man , great job !!
this was my dad's old phone, yesterday i managed to convince him to give it to my younger brother because his phone was DEAD. he's happy. watching this to give him tips because he hates watching reviews and doesn't really speak english. love seeing my siblings happy, big sister win!
The cockpit is made out of polycarbonate
You are probably one of fhe best reviewers I have come across on RUclips. Superb work.
iPhone user here I switched from the note 8 both Apple and Samsung are great companies you can’t go wrong with either.
I will definitely continue to follow and enjoy your channel.
the trade in for my broken screen s9+ made the basic note 20 waaaay worth it. 650 vs 950 after trade in. The $300 seem more substantial.
You are great 👍 like an excited child on Christmas morning. Well done.
So holistic and you presented so friendly and with all of the practical needs
For me the S pen tops this phone over the s20 and other phones it's really impressive and important to me when I first got the note 8 but all in all a great phone really recommended
The S pen sells the phone. I just got upgraded from a note 9 on an insurance claim
Waiting For Zenfone 7 Review Michael !!
Keep it Detailed
Fantastic production as always Mike! Love the content and quality editing!
The Note 20 is a good buy for me because Samsung gives me $550 for my Note 9 for trade-in. They will only give me $250 for the Note 9 if I buy the A71, which then only brought the Note 20 within $100 difference to the A71. So, whether $1000 is overpriced or not, to me, the trade-in program makes it bearable.
But you end up with a worse phone than your note 9 so...
Remember how the note 9 cost 999 but it was worth it and a solid tank that lasts till now without issues?
My biggest complaint is the lack of micro SD card storage. I wouldn't care if it was given the 256GB internal storage. For me it's a huge disappointment
I got this phone for free when my wife got the Note 20 Ultra with a new line at TMobile
Samsung overpriced me out on ALL THE NEW PRODUCTS! I'm going to stay with my Note 10+ and the LG v60
Nah for 1000 dollars I'm not paying for 1080p or a plastic back with lesser powered cameras with 60hz why would I overpay for less features?
Honestly the biggest reason I didn't buy the regular Note 20 wasn't the plastic or the screen, but the lack of expanded storage. I literally already have 70GB of music saved to my SD card on the Ultra because I live in an area with bad streaming quality.
Honestly right now with their Black Friday sale plus my note 9 trade-in I got the note 20 for $510. For me that's a great price for this phone.
Nice! Sounds like a great deal, props to you for snagging it
I'm really considering sending my ultra back for the note 20.
It's a great phone
tony lansky I like the fact that the S10e is a relatively small device as I have small hands, and I like it's touch id which is enabled via the side power button.
How about the Samsung Note 20 LTE, is it still worth it this year?
I really like this guy, provides a lot of useful insight and brings much thought to the table on multiple perspectives
Note 20 vs the galaxy 20 plus which ones a better phone in terms of battery life and better camera ??
Very pertinent review. Glasstic not end of the world, eventually may put a tpu silicone (plastic) cover at the back.
Now we can get this in second hand market at about 450 to 550 usd in my country, more reasonable price.
Thank you. This review was very informative. I just ordered the Note20 today.
Are you satisfied with that phone?
@@Alina-hy4yg Sorry, no. I returned it.
@@SummerRain368 ahh why?
Nice sum up. Enjoy it.
You are really up to details and made the background green with your lights and put some plants in the shot to keep the colour dominant.
Best was colouring hearts and kitties. Hahaha
in my country note 10 plus and note 20 not ultra at the same price which one go with it in your opinion ?
Between the smaller note 20 and the s20 fe, which is a better phone? I plan to trade in an s10 plus so price doesnt matter too much.
I really like it .. moreover it is our wedding anniversary gift from my beloved wife .. not the value I think .. no matter plastic or glass .. the most valuable is the gift .. im verry happy.. and i love Samsung Note from 1 until 20.. i wait gift for next yearm.hope samsung launching note 50 🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 so i will get more samsung note.. hahahaha .. hope my wife does not read this comment..
I don't mind a good specification inside plastic. I rather hate the price. Thank you.
The best review I found on RUclips today.
Gonna purchase the Note 20 today only.
Thanks
Depending on regions Note 20 comes with 128gb and 256gb too.
Note 20 Ultra with 128-256-512 the too. Note 20 can buy it cheaper than $1k, switch trade in or discount deals. Note 20 with 256gb can get between $700&850.
The note 4 was a premium great PLASTIC device. Was the point on having a glass back and covering it.
Producing a phone and overpricing it just to justify the price of another over-priced phone is just too greedy...
i actually think the flat screen is a HUGE plus vs the curved screen. i would pay to have Note 20 Ultra not to have a curve. I like my note 20!
Watching on my Note 20
Note 20 is the best design but this is too expensive $1000! If this is $750 - $850, no one will complain.
Anyway, how he placed all the green icon with green wallpaper, it looks dope!
