- In the Witch Queen Expansion for Destiny 2 they introduced weapon crafting. In this video i talk about how to actually obtain patterns for your weapons in destiny which will allow to craft those weapons in the enclave on mars. I explain How To Unlock Weapon Patterns In Destiny 2 Lightfall 2023. I also show you how to find the weapon pattern tab which will allow you to see what weapon patterns your currently have unlocked and what progress you have towards unlocking other patterns in destiny 2.

hi recently after getting the Destiny 2 legacy collection on Epic ( when it's free and I'm playing this game on Steam too and I sync Steam & epic Cross Save) I didn't get any red border gun for extractin ?!??! why?

Thanks for the video, but I have a question... I had extracted a pattern from Lethophobia bow (1/5 patterns) and got another red border Letho and extracted it again, and well, the count is still 1/5. So what's going on? What am I missing?
Because when we look at the tooltip, it reads: Can be performed ONCE per weapon. So first time I did it, it worked, second time, it didn't count the pattern extraction. So what happens here?

What if dismantle before extracting? I feel before checking i have dismantled some, not sure tho.
They simplified it. Now you can just dismantle them right away for a pattern. Have a good day!
2 year break, back into the light season of the wish - so all the craftable weapons say 0/5 - does that mean the weapon has to drop 5 times and i have extract 5 times to be able to craft it? - if so it sucks or is there a place to farm drops? - also in another vid i saw where it requires a raid material to be able to craft? if so i'll never be able to craft lol
I've understood that you always need 5 copies of the weapon you want to craft. The weapons must have a red border thing, which you can extract at any time. You need to extract it from 5 different copies of the same weapon. When crafting, raid materials are optional I believe and it should be able to be crafted without. Personally I'm pretty disappointed that you still need 5 copies of a possibly RNG based weapon. It's just too much work too early. It would be much better if initial crafting is cheap but upgrading the weapon to be good would be more expensive/time consuming.
Yeah but how do you get the patterns for older weapons like beloved and such?
as far as i know that is not possible currently. those weapons were linked to "seasonal" content that sadly gets removed every 12 months at the release of the new expansion each year. it may be possible to get "some" of them, i will look into it when i get a chance and make a video if i find any good news

Heroic patrols are your friend, only took me about 12 hours lol
It should only take one if you use Deepsight Harmonizer.
Wrong harmonizer just gives you +1 progress

that is a great idea for a video. i have a lot of stuff i need to edit for the new expansion but i will make a video on this in the next couple of days hopefully!
For now, you get them from all kinds of different activities. Dares of eternity, dungeons, raids, lightfall DLC activities, the Seasonal activities (current season is called season of defiance), and i think there are a few available from quests on the "throne world", you get these quests after the introduction mission for the throne world... and these quests actually unlock crafting in general.

If I have a pattern for a weapon, then should I dismantle all my existing weapons of that type??? Does crafting make my existing ones obsolete??
in a way yes, but also in a way no.
Currently there is no way to store unlocked perks on crafted weapons. this means that if a perk is really good for PvE but not good for PvP... that it will cost resources to switch the perks when you play different game modes or honestly even if you just need a different weapon build for a specific loadout you want to maximize. This can lead to you having to level up multiple crafted weapons of the same pattern to get specific builds you want with different attachments and perk combos. which costs alot of ascendant alloys and other resources.
Long story short, the craft able guns can replace alot of the normal ones you have as loot. HOWEVER you may choose to keep some of the normal ones for different situations to save resources long term.

Is it possible to get red borders guns from prior seasons?
yes. Banshee is one way to get them he has a chance to give you red borders from time to time.

Sorry I’m kinda new to this season, but how is thins different from dismantling the weapon and levelling it up until we get the god roll perks we want. I’m not sure what the point of extracting the weapon 5 times is.
To my knowledge, dismantling allows us to craft the weapon right?
@@sneakysicarius6879 originally we had to get kills with the weapon to extra the pattern and some currency. Then we could get kills with the weapon to get 200 extra currency, but we could just dismantle it for the pattern and 100 currency without getting kills if we wanted.
Now there is no currencies and therefore no need for kills. You can extract the pattern right when you get it... and only weapons with actual patterns will have red borders. Previously there were lots of weapons that could get a red border.. and their only purpose was to get kills with them to unlock the old currency.

@@Kyrhez sadly if stuff gets auto deleted from your post master it is just gone forever. No recovery option :(
You can use the D2 companion app on your phone or DIM (Destiny Item Manager) on PC to keep track and move stuff around to be kept in your vault or moved to your inventory to delete to make space. Hope this helps!
Does increasing the weapon lvl increase damage output?
Not directly. All it does is allow you to put on different weapon perks and attachments at the enclave on Mars.
HOWEVER, some of those perks can increase damage and overall effectiveness of a weapon... so in the end, sort of in a roundabout way.

I know that you can get the weapon from lightfall actives on neomuna, the extraction event that requires a key for the bonus chest. Not sure if they can come with red borders though as I have gotten a few but I have completed the patterns so I cannot confirm 100%. It is likely you will have a chance to get them as red borders though, that would make logical sense
side note: I got a ikelos pattern extractable from a pinnacle gear reward from weekly (gambit) so it's def still there, just pray rng

@@marshi6899 you're sol, like me. This has to be done intentionally to foster fomo. I have so many builds that just... Don't work because I'm missing weapons that are actually decent.
I've extracted the pattern numerous times and nothing. a year if doing this and I can't craft anything
most weapons take 5 total "red border" weapons to get a completed "pattern". You can check this by opening up your inventory/tab over to collections/on the right hand side look for records/select "patterns and catalysts". In this section you can see your current progress towards all craftable weapons. hope this helps!

Weird question but, you need the dlc yo craft?
Nope ! It's free :) you just have to do the introduction mission for the "throne world" destination, which is free for everyone. Then speak to ikora in the enclave on Mars, left side of the throne world map. She will have you craft a glaive, then you should be good to go and even get a few free crafting quests :)

@@plasma9758 try going to DESTINATIONS/TOWER/ after you load in walk forward 5 steps and look to your left. walk a few steps away from the POST MASTER and then turn left. you should see a green icon on your screen for the quest archive. it should be on the wall beside that little staircase. once there, check all the tabs for the introduction quest for the witch queen campaign and throne world.

I basically need to get lucky to get the weapon I want and have it red borders multiple times , This is RNG on top of RNG .
once you get the hang of it its not the worst thing ever... but it can be frustrating for sure.
