It's also his commitment to playing the 200 ft game. He has improved immensely on the defensive end of the ice. He's killing penalties, he's making smart defensive positioning, and he uses his elite skating ability to snuff out plays. Vegas loves 2-way forwards and big beefy defensive d-men. Come playoff time, it really isnt fun to go up against.

Buffalo and Sens are just farm teams for other teams. They draft great players who’ll end up being traded or leave after contract to other teams.

Cassidy challenged Eichel to get better defensively and play a 200ft game. Eichel has taken up the challenge and done well with it.

To be fair the time they didn't make playoffs I beleive they had 100 points West was stacked. He's good, but not a Superstar player. 60 point player is good, not great in today's hockey.

If he was healthy this season all year he'd be on pace for 89 points as a 2 was forward, pretty good and elite if you tell me. Look at his stats in playoffs last season

And yet I’m still happy he is gone. Jack went to a cup ready team while Buffalo needs time to develop their young roster.

i am sorry but i must disagree. he is who we thought he was. eichel is only as good as the team he is on. when he was in buffalo, a team with very little depth, he was mediocre. now that he is in vegas, a team with a ton of depth, he is better than good, not exceptional

... he was like 5 points short of PPG player on horrible Buffalo tean. If you think he's "just" good, you are watching Vegas with your eyes closed.

Buffalo is 'the yard' in a prison where great players do their time and take their licks getting stronger until they're granted freedom through unrestricted free agency or trades.

@oasisbeyond I do doubt the Candiens will win in 2-3 years but yes. He should stop with the loyalty crap and pull a Ray Bourque. With cap going up, he won't even have to take less in pay than now really.
