Wow, you have just confirmed what Prophet Mohammed PBHU advised Muslim the importance of eating dates. He PBUH insisted particularly during the fasting month of Ramadhan to break the fast by eating dates first. I lived in Arabia for quite long and noticed dates have different qualities and they sell like hot cake. By the way the Arabs have dates as essential day snacks.

In 1980 I was employed to direct a large project in Kuwait, and since dates were readily available, I acquired the habit of eating two dates at breakfast time. I am still continuing this, though now living in Italy. At the age of 85, no one believes it when they discover this, my doctor included.

I think intermittently, especially for older adults oatmeal is not a bad thing... And including the dates or figs this even better.

I eat my dates with nuts. I stick a walnut, pecan, brazil nut, cashew in between my date and snack away. I believe eating the date with nuts slows the absorption of the glucose thru my system, spiking my glucose. I've observed I absorb more iron/nutrients and my bowels moves like clock work. I'm diabetic so I only eat them 1-2 a day bout 3X's week. This is what works for me eating dates.

I have been eating 4 small size pitted dates every day along with breakfast which includes finger millets, chia seeds and ground flax seeds. I also consume glucophage 500mg since I am diabetic for the last 6 years. My glucose level has been about 6&7 two hours after breakfast. My bowel motion is perfect and regular. My periferal neuropathic symptoms have reduced considerably. I believe that introducing dates in my breakfast has helped to improve my health. I am 79 years old male.

When I placed my dates in the bowl one day, I saw black spots on the bowl, so I soaked the 5 dates with boiling water for few minutes, It made it softer & easier to chew.

Hmm, thanks for sharing that. Here’s my hypothesis:
The high potassium content in dates may be causing you to notice a some mild diuretic effect (although I wouldn’t necessarily associate potassium directly with that), I mean it’s not even as high in potassium as bananas or avocados (quick question: do you notice such effects with those fruits as well or not)
I can’t think of anything else in dates that should be causing that. It’s a dry fruit, so again, that shouldn’t be as well.
My advice is that if you experience a pressing urge to urinate after consuming dates, it's best to consult with your Doctor to determine the underlying cause.
Dates also have diuretic function 👍
Dates are in my salads, Rice, and breakfast smoothies . I see it gives me great bowel movements. I also give them to my granddaughter when she comes over. She is 5, and is constipated a lot. Tthis helps her so much when she gets dates.

Law Glycemic or not, I would point out some people are susceptible to trigger *faster than usual speed to building up *deadly *****URIC (uric) acid that can trigger near life threatening *gout!* So, I WOULD start eating, should anyone decided to consume dates, 1-date at a time, every other day, unless U have demanding working out like esp. Running and 1-mile non step, except for quick drinks for every 15-or-20-mintutes, then someone who experienced deadly gout attack few times *DUE TO increase level of U guessed **dangerous gout attack!** Accordingly, I would caution taking dates every single day, but like every 2-day and every 3-days in alternating to make sure fully preventing *occurrence of deadly and potentially life threatening ****gout***** and making SURE inspect your areas of gout (caused by excessive sugar triggers *uric acid!*), my case was **left foot** areas. Everyone will have different areas of their body part where their *gout* or deadly uric acid will be triggering on them! 3-dates a day is potentially asking *for gout or triggering uric acid meaning *gout attack! * Please remember a potentially deadly medical condition triggered by uric acid and even though NOT processed sugar, *sugar is sugar, just a little below average GLI, NOT a way below repeat! I would strongly advise eating 3-dates a day NOT even 2-dates for a day, but rather 1-date for day or even every other day unless you are going or just ran 10-k race or hard working out as stated above!

In the arabian regions they did not have any other choice (up until a few decades ago), but to eat date and Lizards and drink camel's urine it part of their culture even to this day, (I saw them drinking camel's urine on the Y.U., They did not have piped water to their tents or caves).

I've been eating Dates for years and I keep a 500 gram box in my fridge. Also the Tuareg people of Mali eat dates as a travel food when crossing the Sahara Desert which they say you need 7 dates a day for a full trip and of course dates have always been accessible to them. But go find a good Asian food store for the best Dates. I eat Persian dates.

Most of the nutrition found in a date is located in the seed. In order to digest the seeds nutrients you hade to completely dehydrate the seed (low and slow) and then grind the dehydrated seed into a powder and add the powder to a beverage. It'll require more than 1 date too. I don't know the exact amount though. I used to eat 4 dates per day. Quite a bit of sugar.

An interesting video. However, you have missed out the most significant fact about dates-eating: You should eat one date at a time, not two at one go. You can have 1, 3, 5, 7 dates for breakfast , but never 2, 4, 6. Odd number but never even number of dates. The reason is that their inner nutrients neutralize and counteract each other when we eat 2 dates at the same time, the same way minus sign (-) and plus sign (+) do when electricity is concerned. So, eat 2 dates a day, however make sure there's a gap in their consuming -hours.

Dates are less known in countries that can’t grow them, like Nordic countries.
Let me explain what the brain is mostly made of: 60% fat and 20% cholesterol. It doesn't leave a lot of room for anything else once you think about the nerves and blood and water. We really don't need a lot of sugar. A whole teaspoon full in our body at any one time and we can make it ourselves from our fat cells.
I never eat dates yet but one day I will have to try it in my country it is very expensive could you use dates as a brain food I will have to try dates for it purposes
