This is a really, really well made tutorial. Calm, so my brain can take in the info instead of constantly getting distracted with special effects or someone yelling at me, cohesive, well lit, great audio, well articulated. Just had to say something because it's such a jewel among all the RUclips noise.
That’s so true. A lot of RUclipsrs are a bit too excited, extra and just speeding through everything with an over reliance on cuts and background music. This video is how a tutorial is done.
This was incredibly useful, and will undoubtedly shorten the learning curve as I learn to use new equipment/techniques. Great to see something so well put together coming from Calgary!
Absolutely the best tutorial for using the Godox X2T trigger!!! I recently upgraded from the X1 to the X2T and I am very pleased with this upgrade, except for the abysmal user guide provided. (similar to Good user guides for its flashes...useless and unintelligible) Fortunately for us, Jessie came to the rescue and showed all the ins and outs of this handy and inexpensive device. I have the iPhone 13, unfortunately, the new app version doesn't have all the features the older version had.
Thank you. Very comprehensive. So nice that people take the time and effort to help. If using manual camera settings, it's a relief that you can control flash output in decimals rather than fractionally. So much simpler if you're a noob like me. Selecting +3 on the contrast is a big screen improvement imo.
Thanks for this excellent and informative tutorial. Literally covered every aspect of the trigger. This is a most comprehensive tutorial on this trigger that I have seen online so far. No one can go wrong with the trigger after watching this video
Wow what a great video! I am a complete newb at modern off camera flash and just bought the Godox tt685c and the X2T Controller to go with my Canon T7i camera I bought a few years ago. A little overkill for a newb but wanted something I could grow into. This is by far the most comprehensive tutorial on this flash that I have seen online so far. Everyone else just blasts through their videos to either just get it done and posted or they are geared for people that already know how to do this. I was literally doing off camera flash within minutes as I followed along with your video. Unfortunately my old Galaxy S5 is not supported by the app but I have a ton to learn before I get another phone. Thank you very much!
Good video. On thing I will mention. ID does not "add channels". It adds a code to the transmitted signal, which is decoded in the receivers, and, when enabled on RX and TX, flash requires it in the received signal in order to fire. This is to eliminate firing from other transmitters' spurious signals, or, worse, other transmitters on the same channel. It has been around as "PL" (personal line) in VHF/UHF communications for decades.
AT LAST, a PROFESSIONAL, easy to understand NO BLOODY music background video, SUPERB especially for Autistic people like me. Thank you, well done. A few years back I had Flex TT5s etc, I sold as they were rarely used. I bought three of these, being Autistic I am unable to read (concentrate, I am not stupid) this video was SUPERB sitting there WITH the units and following a PROFESSIONAL RUclips maker, I just wish you showed how to update the firmware.
Excellent instructional video. I had a problem with my trigger. I knew it was operator error but couldn't figure it out. After watching your video, it was plain as day. Thanks for the help!
Such an awesome tutorial !!!! Thank you..Thank you..Thank you !! I am an absolute beginner and I bought this with the TT600 flash, and didn't have a clue how to operate the controller and the flash and what these options are all about. Now my controller, godox app and flash are all set

The best tutorial video I've seen. Can I mount and use a Neewer Camera Wireless Timer Remote NW-870 on top of the Godox X2T Radio Controller, can the Godox x2T handle what I need.
Hi Don, If you're looking to trigger another camera at the same time, you may encounter slight sync issues, but the X2T can definitely fire your remote when you have the PC setting set to "Out."
Hi Don, Edit to my last response: I'm not sure your remote shutter release actually has a sync input. It would require one if I understood your question correctly, so just double-check.
Excellent video. I did try to look at the app but apparently the app is not available for my phone because it was made for an older version of Android. Is there a new version that i'm just not finding?
Hello, thanks for the great in depth instructions! One question; I'm going to photography a model train setup and I'd like to show motion. Will this controller fire several Godox TT685C's in Rear Curtain / Second Curtain Sync? I gather they all need to be in the same group.
Hi Jan, You can have them in different groups as long as they are all on the same channel. If you are using a Canon body, rear curtain sync can be set on the controller or within the camera menu (cross-communication is enabled). However, we have noticed compatibility issues with some Canon cameras if you intend to use bulb mode.
Wonderfully helpful video. I was tearing my hair out trying to use the flash and controller together. This made it so all so clear. Thanks so much. Have subscribed.
Hi Richard, A trigger is actually still required to use the app, so it's not so much an alternative as it is an additional option. Hope you didn't find that section too distracting!
Thank you for the super tutorial! I have one (little supid) question: if the X2T is on my camera, can I still controll the lighting adjustments via the app? It sure seems obvious but you didn't used it that way in the video.
Hi Jochen, You will actually require the controller to be on your camera. The app is pushing the settings to your controller, which is responsible for triggering your lights. Hope that makes sense! Your primary trigger will still need to be paired with the app and outside of "APP" mode in order to send power settings to your lights.

Thanks for your response... It a R2-Tii Flashpoint trigger I downloaded the firmware for the device from the flashpoint page and installed it... still no luck
Hi and thank you for this great tutorial on the Godox Trigger. I am a beginner with using these devices and this surely help. I do just want to ask a beginner question I hope you don’t mind. For example, if you had an AD200 Pro and an AD400 Pro set to group A at 1/16 power, the AD400 Pro would still come out about a stop brighter. Hope this clarifies things. If you have any other questions, just let us know.

Enjoyed your video and purchased the Olympus version from Amazon. Tried it off camera and under iPhone control and very impressed, however when I tried to put it on my Lumix G9 it was far too tight and I risked damaging the trigger or the camera. UPDATE I saw some small black marks on the camera hot shoe and decided to carefully scrape the off. In doing so I dislodged a thin shim and the trigger now fits easily. I think the shim is to hold the black plastic hot shoe blank in place.
Another thorough, informative video. Question: In what manner do you believe is the best way to control light(s) using two camera bodies with two controllers? That is, one shooter w/2 bodies. In this situation with one shooter you would put the controller into Group Mode in custom functions. That way whichever camera is being used would send the settings to the lights and take priority.
19:14 change both of your controllers to group mode (i call it multi user mode) so that everytime the shutter is pressed, it sends the settings of trigger attached to the current body you are using to the flash.
Thanks so much for this amazing tutorial. I'm from Brazil. I have a question. I have 2 GODOX AD 200, how can i torn off only 1 unit using theX2t instead going to the flash??? Yhanks so much
Hi DJ, You can set each AD200 to a seperate group, and then disable the group that you want to be off With a group selected, the mode button will toggle the group between TTL, manual, and off (--).
Today I received the Godox X2T(P) . I do exactly as you showed in your absolutely the best tutorial I found on the subject. However, I get no connection between the X2T(P) and the Godox V860IIIP. They are in the same channel and the same group. What could be the problem?
Thanks to one of the comments below I solved my problem. This comment considered the use of the flash as a slave. So, again I went through the booklet and found an orangish colored frame showing that group D was set instead of group A. Strange, because both on the transmitter and the flash it showed group A was set. After changing group D to group A in that frame I all of a sudden had connection! TTL works great using the flash off camera. Very happy I went through these comments. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this amazing tutorial/walk through.. it was super informative and I can finally set up my V1C and AD600 Pro using this very same trigger.. super thankful for this.
Hi , thanks for this video was very helpful and detailed ... how can I know of this trigger is compatible with the different brands of speed lights flash and strobes ? And how can I choose the right trigger ?
Hi Peter, These controllers are only compatible with Godox X-Series lights, but there are receivers available if you wanted to adapt a Canon or Nikon flash over to the system. Those receivers also come with cables for triggering non-Godox strobes. Choose the controller that matches your camera brand in order to have access to advanced features like TTL and HSS on compatible Godox models.
Hi Sylvia, The latest firmware version for the X2T ranges from 1.0 to 1.2 depending on which hotshoe configuration you have (for example, the Nikon version is still on firmware version 1.0). You can update your controller to the latest version by downloading the firmware packages from Godox's website or from our site here: strobepro.com/pages/firmware-upgrade We have a video tutorial there which shows you how to use the G1 and G2 upgrade software.
Thank you for doing this great video. I actually purchased 2 of the Godox X2T TTL for Nikon. The problem I am having I wanted to set up the second X2T and use it as a Wireless Shutter Release trigger, as stated in the manual on page 41. I have searched all of the RUclips site and cannot find and video's that will help me out. I purchased the cable, any suggestions would be so helpful. Continue the great work!
it has trigger to switch on modelling light by long press menu button, modelling light is very helpfull when focusing in very low light condition manual, switch off when focusing the object already done.

Hi Sylvia,
The latest firmware version for the X2T ranges from 1.0 to 1.2 depending on which hotshoe configuration you have (for example, the Nikon version is still on firmware version 1.0). You can update your controller to the latest version by downloading the firmware packages from Godox's website or from our site here:
strobepro.com/pages/firmware-upgrade
We have a video tutorial there which shows you how to use the G1 and G2 upgrade software.
Do you need a speed light too? Or does the Godoy X2T work on is own as a flas?
@@Reinahdz818 Its only the trigger you need a light that responds to the trigger
