You're so right about the stereotype of blacks not feeling pain. This is a belief by them. It's used as an excuse for emptying their guns into us. I've had extensive dental work because I never took good care of my teeth. I had a dentist tell me once that I was not feeling that when I complained. He gave me shots but they did not seem to work. He was one of these root canal dentist. When I went back to my regular dentist for a crown he told me he should have been able to deaden that tooth. I really believe some dentist use some kind of watered down Novocaine for black dental patients. I went to a dentist once for a crown and he could not deaden the tooth. I went to another dentist and told him about the previous dentist. This dentist had no problem deadening the tooth.

      It makes zero sense❗
I've been paying attention to how I'm treated when I go to the ER or hospital and there is definitely a difference, it's like we have to fight tooth and nail in order to receive proper service/treatment. It's like we almost gotta jump through hoops to receive the proper care.

Wow! Interesting interview! Sleeping with a captain can lead to upward mobility within the company??? That is truly a lawsuit! Domestic violence??? Flight attendants are "minions"??? I would be with civil rights attorneys vs this podcast. I have 33 years with the company where I work, discrimination/racism is definitely an issue. Policies regarding hair have been changed iver the years. .I have seen an increase moreso post covid. I really hate that United is not cleaning cabins and disinfecting. On our aircraft hazmat is standard equipment. I truly recommend wearing shoes on the aircraft. In most hubs, the coffee makers are brought in clean. I totally agree with coffee packs. Fingers touch the packs- it's real...
My experiences are different as I am an international flight attendant. Not a fan of domestic flights. Americans are my least desirable group to work with. I work trips based on cities. My preference is to not go to cities in certain states, if I must.
I truly would leave the company if I felt that I was not valued. You deserve better.

Please continue to share this info with the world 🌎 Sis, Thank you for your courage💗 Thank you for educating the public about the hostile work environments that BFA and all of us face on a daily basis. I pray for your strength, peace and protection for you and all our people who are still in the clutches of systemic racism. Racism, and institutional hatred needs to be abolished once and for all 💯

A pilot is going to get the benefit of the doubt more times than not especially over a flight attendant. Fight attendants come a dime a dozen 🤷‍♂️ pilots have to have so much training and other things that other groups don't

Those pilots need to be called out by name. Don't want to fly with a WS BEHIND the wheel.

Was a flight attendent for two airlines in the early 80's. Based in (PHX), (LAS), (MCO). There were very few straight Black Men flying back then. It was a open Racism and they would fire Black People for the slightest offense. It was though, a fun, fun, life. I was the only Black Man in two classes of flight attendants (50 people) and had no trouble learning the aircraft we had to be certified on, as I passed with at a 95% rate. She's right, the white folks brought drugs to training, I was amazed. I left after 6 years, went to flight school at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, then graduated from law school. Oh, BTW: I was fired from both flight attendant jobs......LOL Also, ALL MY DOCTOR'S ARE BLACK!!!!

Good for her! She pointed out so much that is wrong but ignored in the airline industry and others. More of us need to have the courage to speak up. There is nothing noble about suffering in silence. We teach folks how to treat us. Time to start teaching new lessons. Join voices, be loud and hold folks accountable!!!

Don't quick. Flight attendant income is average. Very low. If you passionate to be a flight attendant do it for the lifestyle, you could barely make 30k a year.

I, remember being in my 20s, expressing to my mother, that I wanted to be a flight attendant. She told me, no way. Instead of asking her why, I simply heeded, her words, and, didn't become one. So happy I took her advice.
