- First tractor that broke down in the field for Spring 2024 and it turned out to be a good one! Water pump totally grenaded and sent metal into the cooling system. Will have to replaced the EGR cooler, thermostat, and flush the entire cooling system to make sure all the contamination is removed.

Zeth your restraint on colorful language is impressive. By the time you edited one my repairs the video would be about 3 minutes. Great job.
When you talk to yourself, it's much more polite than when I do it. :) Thanks for another great video!
i know what your talking about.......
Same tools would have went flying to the ground. Then that would have made me mad because I gotta get down to get them.
Farmers must like when you show up to repair stuff because they know there in good hands!
Talking to machines always makes the job go better in my experience.
Zeth, for a service technician you have a lot of patience. I enjoy your videos and knowledge. Keep the action coming. Definitely look you up at the next one. Stay safe!
Thanks, will do!
Farmers Wife = "Honey, who is that Tech talking to.?" Farmer= "Oh, He is talking to the Machine." Wife= "Why.?" Farmer= "Oh, they are old Friends." Wife= "What is the Tech's Name." Farmer= "Ahhh, track climber# 30." LOL. Great job Mr. Z. Your Professionalism and thorough evaluations are always impressive. Thanx for sharing. 😃😃😃
Man, there isn't too much better with my morning coffee than a 45 minute video of a water pump (and other stuff) replacement on a big green tractor! I'm always so impressed by the extensive work that you do on those big boys. Keep 'em coming!
For a windy day, your audio in that segment/day was beautiful!
Those new mics are awesome!
Glad to see Deere is still putting out quality and still stand for longevity. Thank you greedy corporate pigs who now run Deere.
Thank God for all the battery-powered rachets and swivel sockets
I understand that completely.. "Come on engineers" I firmly believe that it should be a requirement for the engineers to be a mechanic for 5 years so they understand the headaches we have to deal with! I work on the red ones, but same battles man... I really like your videos man, keep up the great work!
A Deere that doesn't grenade after a water pump failure. Cummins saves the day.
Every farmer that complains about his bill being too high or the repair taking too long needs to watch this video
Nice work on that repair. These jobs always tend to escalate!
That belt setup seems to be asking a lot from that waterpump bearing. Hopefully this one lasts longer than 1100 hours.
That was a lot of work. Congratulations on getting it back together. Be sure to visit the owner in the hospital after his heart attack when he sees the repair bill.
I am sure it's under warranty if not it's just the cost of doing business.
Be alot Cheaper then a new motor haha
You’re an inspiration for a lot of us amateurs and professionals. Thank you for sharing.
Unusual for a water pump to grenade so severely. You did a great job to insure no large metal pieces would circulate in the system. I was amazed to see how difficult access to the EGR is. Ouch! Your patience is impressive! A job well done.
You really go the extra mile to make sure a job is done right. I really believe that those that engineer machinery should work with a mechanic before they are allowed to design anything. My commentary would not be fit for sensitive ears. Yours is awesome. You still must have had other things running through your head. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and doing a great job. Stay safe, and God bless.
Well, go get an engineering degree and go try to design it YOUR way. Trust me, engineers don't have free will in designs.
Engineers sometimes get in heated arguments trying to do the right thing.
The Ron white clip has confirmed that you and I would be great friends
Love me some Ron white!
In regards to that water pump that gave up the ghost. I had a service call a few years ago, where the customer wanted me to check out his trailed sprayer because of some steering issues. I needed a tracor in front of it to actuate the hydraulics, so he hooked the sprayer up to an old 700 series fendt. An hour drive later, I was giving it a once over and started to diagnose the issue. I said to the guy that I need him to turn the wheels so I could see if they are turning in manual mode. As soon as he started up his old fendt, there was a loud squeal, followed by a violent bang. The water pump decided to give up, so the fan cut straight into the radiator and sprayed coolant everywhere. The shroud was broken too. The customer is from the southern part of Estonia, which is kinda like your southerner hillbilly´s(I meant that in a good way). You know how they have their own dialect and set of words for certain things. I heard all his special words after that. We also had a good laugh with him because I was there for less than 15 minutes. And had to come back a month later, after he got it fixed.
I bet your calves like the workout, while you climb those tracks, haha.
Also, thank you for showing off your tools. It reminds me that I need to get a small prybar myself.
Cheers mate!
I believe that water pump experienced a "rapid unscheduled disassembly" in NASA speak. Love watching the precision of your work and of course envious of the tool set. Thanks for sharing with us.
Man Zeth, you definitely have more patience than I. You definitely deserve every penny on this one.
Your language somehow was a lot less colorful than mine would have been. Keep up the excellent work man.
WOW £735 for the water pump, and £3100 for the egr cooler!!!! Lucky it's in warranty 😲
The commentary on this video is golden 😂
You're pretty thorough to do all the back flushing you're doing. A great mechanic doing thorough work. How many do we know would just replace the water pump and call it a day?
Your boss should be proud!
Thanks 👍
Well I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that can't guess wrench sizes
Hi Zeth well that was tuff, especially without Josh at your side to ease things along with a good joke here and there. Luv the Triumph bike of yours ,beautiful machine, and nice little sat nav unit. KTGIM Julian U.K
Amazing video and your attention to detail and doing the job right! Nicely done mate!
Glad you enjoyed it
Welcome to the wonderful world of Cummins. Some times I look at the design that these engineers come up with and think the heck are they thinking
Amazing how a seemingly simple job can turn into a quasi nightmare...but then that might actually be the norm?
way to go zk, my selection of Special Words would have been much larger then yours, good job on pg rating,. fun watching a pro going the extra mile to completely clean out the system. i'm hoping the spring season has plenty of other good videos, thanks.
Great stuff. Can't wait to see you service a 9RX 830 one day.
Think you do a fantastic job. You give it your all all the time.
Loved the commentary, Hilarious. Great video as always
Glad you enjoyed
Oh yea 2 videos in same week. Keep the content coming. Videos are great
Thanks for another great video ZK.
It was super interesting and informative and enjoyable.
Wow. You had a lot of tough work on this one. Appreciate the fact you back flushed all those areas to make sure the metal shavings were out of there and not in the block. The AGR cooler was tough to get out and I feel you did the right thing by replacing it. Perfect place for metal pieces to hide. Smart move to replace it, s although it was hard to remove and replace. Good work ZK.
My compliments to you for your fine narrative- - I would have been kicking the tires and cussing up a storm.
You kept telling us what you were doing and what the next step was very calmly. Fine work and language ZK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. Just to replace the water pump and back flush the system is a lot of hard work for you ZK and pieces to replace and test and whatever. You did it all on this one.
The farmer should be happy he had you for the repair work. You protected his engine and made sure it was ready.
His bill may scare him but his tractor is ready to work again.
You did a great job here ZK. I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing with us on a tough job.
You take care and be safe.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Note. You did not fall off the tracks even once-yeah!!!!!
Good job ZK.
Those tracks are hard to climb on and off of.
Nice work sir!!!!!!!
😊
Great videos we run a lot of John Deere equipment 9R 540 9R 490 and a 9330 and an 335R two 9770 combines and an S690 and I learn a lot by watching your videos Eugene from Ontario Canada
I liked how you showed how hard or difficult the job really was. The viewer can not always see how hard a job is on video. Thanks for bringing me along.
You guys are amazing Mechanic's, enjoy your videos 👍👍
THANKS for another video! Sure enjoy watching your work.
You by getting that tractor going has saved Wes f thousand of dollars compared with buying a brand new tractor ,makes alot of sense.
New mics are excellent
You’re doing great you’re an amazing technician. Love your channel.
Zac you are comical and keeping it clean.
I'm guessing that the video was really hard for you to keep it kid friendly 🤣🤣🤣👍 great job master tech 👏
Yes it was
Story of every technicians life too loose for a ratchet, too tight for finger loosening
Not a lot of hrs on tractor before water pump failed have you had one like that before keep up the good work John England
Personally on the water pumps and fan driver bolts I like to double wrench them to loosen them and then remove all the skin on my knuckles and punch the engine block
Another good one Zeth! I really enjoy seeing the things you com across in your work.
Thanks for another great video on your repairs to John Deere machines
Swivelage--it's like Josh never left.
With all your patience you and I we’re definitely raised differently I was almost 16 before I realized my name wasn’t damnit hahaha
I SURELY LIKE YOUR TOOLS!!! THANKS 😊.
I feel for you I worked on the yellow stuff for 30 years don’t miss it. I do miss the smell of the snap on truck.
When I'm jonesing for the next VGG, you give me a hit of what I'm looking for! Thanks.
Sometimes I would love to make the engineers do repairs and see them getting annoyed because of themselves. Like on our tractor there is a coolant line(i guess) that's right in front of the engine air filter. It's a joy to put the cover back on it.
I don't have 100th the experience that you do, but I say the exact same thing every time I encounter a 14mm. They just put them there to mess with us.
I know!
Based on what I saw as a Cummins technician. It was a very good diagnostic. Hopefully, the customer bought the tractor with an extended warranty on that QSK 15L. He will saved money in the long run.
Love the movie clips
excellent program, thank you.
Wow Zeth that was quite the repair! So do You always keep your cool or just when the camera is rolling? Great video Zeth! The audio was awesome as well! Looking forward to your next video!! Safe travels Zeth!
big job!! beatiful machine
I recon you’ve got $ 150 k worth of tools ? Would I be far off 😊 Love your videos thank you for sharing your journey
I work on these x15 in tractors as well i 100% felt all your frustrations a tip i got is to take the manifold bolt were that bolt is were your extension got stuck ,working on tracks is such a joyful day😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the tip
great video
Top quality repair . John Deere need you .
Awesome videos I enjoy them all makes me want to be a mechanic again.
Good lord, that escalated quickly🙈
A few hundred dollars job just ran into the thousands. Would it not be an idea for JD to mould a magnet into the pump housing to catch any particles in the event of a water pump bazooka?
I definitely do NOT have a hot mic going when I'm working on anything :)
Regards from Germany:
Even I do not understand every word you are talking, I love your videos.
And there is always time for lubricant.....😂😂
I believe he done got his moneys worth out of that water pump
Very interesting.
big cam 2 water pump even came with a handle . had fleet of autocars with long hood and massive radiator but it was pretty
You certainly do extremely thorough work . After finding all the impeller pieces it would have been ok to replace the water pump . Those tiny flakes of debris would just settle in the block .I doubt they would have jammed the thermostat open or done any damage.
Hopefully you got the answers you were expecting, if not rerun the edit and - opps sound dropped out! Silly me! That was a job and a half, that turned into a mountain climb. Well done lad, we've all had days like that - that never seem to end... From UK.
Great video have been watching your videos for about one year since I discovered your channel. you didn't lie you were mistaken about socket size,.
Dobra robota 😊💪🚜
I can tell you what 13mm deep socket does to water pump impeller on ISX 15L Cummins. They had replaced radiator and water pump at different shop. That tech lost his 13mm deep Matco impact socket that went into lower rad hose. (remember put something over hose) You wouldn't think water pump could pull fluid that hard. It pull socket back and up one foot into impeller. I'm fishing around with magnet getting pieces of impeller and a socket. Really didn't hurt socket only slight ding.
Ouch! That's a bummer
I have found that when the Mechanic working on you equipment says " ut oh" it turns out not being a Good thing
Kudos to the master for his hard work and work👌👍... But it is a very stupid solution that two pk belts exert a great radial pressure on the water pump bearing...👎
Days like this you need a Patrick 😅
Thanks Zeth?
I would like to see the engineers fix it like thay said so easy, right,
This makes me laugh because as technicians all of us talk to ourselves while doing these jobs.
wouldn't you love to meet up with one of the engineers that designed that and how it mounts some dark night?
Love my high speed ratchet!
They are the best
You love your job.
Needs screens in the cooling passage.
Another great vid! Keep the deere's running
That ought to be covered by warranty. Even a flush or 2 of the motor with new antifreeze.
Nice Cattle Call... 🐂Got Moo? 15:57
Cracking video 👌
Congratulations on not cursing, I would have lost my sh1t!!
John Deere engineers say let not only have the farmers not be able to fix the tractor but let have the technicians struggle too
They only don’t let you mess with the software on the machine you can still fix the problems if you know how to do it
I know exactly how you feel, I assembled an IKEA bed today.
I'm wondering what changing water pumps at a certain hour could have cost versus what you ended up having to do 😮 Good work
That was so involved I think I would rather have just gone to Vegas and get drunk! I don't gamble or drink.
Matco ratchets are the best my 8” 1/4” will take off some seriously tight bolts hasn’t failed yet lol
Nice job
This why you so many different tools 😮
