All the fast BMW's I've seen at the ring have been E36, the E46 was holding the E36 up and you could see it was struggling with understeer in some corners where the E36 driver never looked like he was trying. On the road the 46 is the nicer car but a track shows the limits of the chassis, I think it must be heavier and not quite as good geometry wise. The only advantage I could see for the E46 was it was a bit faster once it got wound up on the straight. I've seen some pretty expensive German BMW builds at the ring, seems there is a reason none of them choose an E46 or any newer 3 series as a platform.
Very enjoyable lap to watch. These two cars are so evenly matched with the E46 having an edge at corner exit acceleration and the e36 being faster in the corners. You must do more laps with Hamza 😁

I wonder, is the e46 m3 modified to a similar extent as the e36 m3? In Europe, the powerplants are the same between the two, correct? Is the transmission also the same? Great driving, btw. I enjoy watching your videos. cheers.
Jay Jones definitely not the E36, you cam clearly see it’s got a roll cage, long gearstick and probably a passenger seat delete + other weight reduction stuff
Hi Alex, great driving both of you. If you have the option of stripping down the two cars and equip them exactly with the same mods, which one would be better considering it a street/track car, E36 vs E46, thanks man.
The only "driver assistance" the e46 has over the e36 is the throttle is "drive by wire" where the e36 is still a cable driven system. Just because of that I'd go with the e36
In stock form? E36 loses with even Renault 19 in race track.(castle combe race track test from 90s) This E36 is not E36 anymore, it has E36 M3 engine inside and thats it. In stock form M3 E36 is not even good handling car. Its old and slow. (E60 535D in automatic making same track times) So E36 handling is not even close to be good and u talking about best handling cars of all time? Nowadays suv make better G in corner than old stock E36.

It took me a second to realize that noise was a fender liner rubbing on hard corners.
This was a nice surprise before I go to work :)

Does Hamza have a RUclips channel? Are the mods similar on both cars? Your e36 looks to have very firm suspension, more so than most e46 setups

Ive seen E36 with only 330hp go round in 7:25. A nissan GTR needs an extra 200+hp to match that time. Suv? 😁
