These are super helpful! Thanks for these videos. I'm appreciative and always learn something new. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I wanted to note that when on the multitrack seq, the LFO(s) can be muted (nulled) per track by holding down LFO and hitting the first track button. The first track LEDS are lit (or unlit).
Can you do a little tutorial with Oxi clock and a modular system using Pam’s as primary clock source, and how everything should be setup so everything starts and stops together. Trying to figure out if Oxi or Pam’s should be master, and how to best synchronize everything
Oh that's a good suggestion. Basically I always use Oxi as the clock master and Pams takes the clock output from Oxi One into the CLK input. I set PPQNOut to 24 on the Oxi One's Config menu and the same on Pams
thanks for another good tutorial. I am finally gaining ground on the oxi dashboard. I have yet to even look up the new sequencer types, I guess the stoastic and the even newer sequencers are next on my list. but then again the mod and probabilites make a regular sequencer already so complex I let that box of worms for a future date. maybe you have some tips for the new more freaky sequencers? hopefully you can make them less intimidating!
Thanks for the kind words! Yes the new sequencers can be more intimidating so it is best to start simple, and with some modulation even a mono sequencer can be very powerful. I did cover the Stochastic mode in my first Oxi One video so take a look there. I do have a plan to do Matriceal mode in a video
Yes you just set the sequence MIDI channel to the channel of the drum machine, and then press and hold each step and use the knobs to change the assigned note to match your drum machine's notes
Thanks for your videos, oure best on this topic. This is going to probably be a dumb question,(this is the first thing I've bought that doesn't also make the sounds) given the unit can only send information out to other units in order to get any sounds, I'm confused why it has all these options on the back and in the menus but only one midi output?.... when you're playing with other devices, what do you consider the master device or interface if you will? I've got lots of things to pull apart to try and I'd kind of like a few pointers before I do that because uts going to become a mess and I'll have a huge meltdown 😂. Let's suggest you had a Hydrasynth, Maschibe MK3, laptop (can't use MK3 without it) Artiphone (weird midi guitar) and about 10,000 other groove boxes, how would you connect them together?
MIDI is a chained protocol - so each device has a MIDI in and a MIDI thru port. The idea is that you daisy-chain devices off each other (with the Oxi at the head of the chain) and each device is on its own MIDI channel, so only responds to messages from that channel. Now that can add a delay as the messages propagate down the line, so it's also possible to use 'MIDI splitter' boxes that take one MIDI input (from the Oxi) and duplicate it to 5 or 8 MIDI outputs to go to different synths. Make sense?
@@SynthDad sure does, thanks for writing back to me. It does raise some other questions though, if you’re happy for that? Now, obviously you can’t daisychain three the devices when they are USB midi only as you only have one port? There is no other way I don’t know of is there? In the case of the OXI one what cable do you have going to the computer And what cable do you have going to the next mini device? I only have luck when connecting the OXI one to the next thing whether it be the computer or otherwise via the USB cable I haven’t had any luck so far with the CV out to the five pin DN breakaway . One more thing, if I connect the OXI to my hydras synth using the a USB -C to B cable (l thought we weren't supposed to do this but anyway) the hydra synth is recognised straight away and appears to be fully controllable by the OXI but I’m not fully sure. I understand what the advantage in this is the hydro synth works fine by itself as it does all the time anyway and in this mode, I’ve got two devices that kind of act as one so I can’t do two things at once, and I would much prefer to make use of the USB cable as a connection to the computer because I don’t really have another way to do that other than Bluetooth
Oh, I forgot to say, none of my devices that have midi DIN have a through port, only in and out. do the outputs serve as through? Would depend on the unit I’d say -.
Try kebu's studio Tour 😅 it's insane ruclips.net/video/iY5FTc1B9RQ/видео.htmlsi=rY7q0Iv3mAgQqgO1 Yes , the more midi gear involved, the more you have to consider, when setting up the midi chain 😅. I purchased a vintage miditemp midi play mp-88 to use 8 ins 8 outs freely customizable. Several input devices (only one sending master clock) and some outputs. To be honest, most of the time (jamming) I do not really need it in smaller set-ups but go with what is available instead, like... Keystep pro: 2 din out + usb out (host) + cv outs keystep as mini master clock and midi keyboard / arp into Digitakt (1DIN + 1DINSYNC) Long Story short: really interested in oxi one but not mainly for midi duties but (live) sequencing capabilities (midi, cv, usb bluetooth) Ps: my beloved hydra provides midi in/out/through and 2 cv in/out freely assignable. (Another swiss army knife)
They take very different approaches to generative. The T1 is hands-on with knob per function, so it is very playable in a live situation. But T1 doesn't do so well for building your own sequences, or chord progressions. That's where the T1 is a more capable sequencer. It's really good at building whole songs
Hello! Could you do something like this with the Hapax (meaning: do you know/think the Hapax is capable of this kind of config w it's effects)? thanks!
You’re really good at explaining things. Excellent channel! Subbed.
Awesome, thank you!
Excellent!
Great Video
Thanks!
Just watched all your oxi one videos, very helpful for my understanding of how to work the functions - thank you!
Glad it helped!
Awesome
that beat is pumpin yo! pump up the jam synthdad!
Thanks mate - pump up the jam!

Thank you. Have you tried this with any drum machines that have notes assigned? (Kick drum C1 for example)
I’ve been using it with Superior Drummer software which has Kick Drum C1, works really well, still learning it though.
Yes you just set the sequence MIDI channel to the channel of the drum machine, and then press and hold each step and use the knobs to change the assigned note to match your drum machine's notes
You can hold the first pad of sequence with the track number and when you assign C1 for kick drum it will do all pads at once.

Great stuff. I can't get either the mod or the LFO to change Euclidian rotate. Is that not implemented yet?
What firmware version are you on? The 3.5.x releases have it implemented.
nice vid, how do you compaRE THIS with Torso T1? in terms of generative ideas?

@@SynthDad Thanks a lot for your answer. How to create whole songs in T!? This could be an interesting topic for a new video on T1.
@@SynthDad Did you mean to say "That's where the Oxi one is a more capable sequencer. It's really good at building whole songs"?

I think it can, but I don't have the Hapax so I can't say for sure
It is capable. You can modulate midi effects parameters with other midi effects (ie LFOs or envelopes, or even automation lanes).
hi neyos dad
Hello!
