I can’t believe that I supported this game for so long, defending the PVE against all of my friends. All of this proof of concept for the PVE is just a scam, and empty filler. I was so excited to play this PVE and expand on the wonderful story that overwatch could tell.

It is the exact same game, however they still had tens of millions of new players (kids that are now old enough to try the game) who purchased the game for $70. They used a fake proof of concept to sell a product that did not exist.

The fact they said “highly replayable content” makes me think there aren’t a lot of missions.
Roga what they mean by highly replayable content is there is different difficulties for the pve missions
I think every heroes have some missions to do.
No Jeff said that every time you replay a mission it’s different and probably more difficult
i'd say since there's not even a release date yet and the game looks polished enough already that they're spending the time making the game longer. keep in mind that this is a long time before release.
A Brick do you think it will be in 2021 because we have nothing to look forward to except the game. Echo is the last character until the game release and other than matey a rework I don’t think we will get anything. So I’m hoping it will release like at the end of 2020

3 years later and only three of the promised things is here, that being new maps/heroes, and a push mode.
They also cut a lot! On 2:32 you can see a PvP map 2 point capture, with first point being around statue. I didn't see that map anymore

and they finally announced that PvE isn't coming on H1 2023, meaning we are getting in on october 2023 or in other words, a whole year after OW2 release

Man... could someone tell me why OW2 doesn't have these things the trailer and the developer livestream promised:
-Story mode missions
-Hero missions
-Leveling up your heroes with new skills
-Changing the time of day and weather effects in custom games
-The new unexplored areas in old maps, like the gate in King's Row
Can’t answer some of these but I know pve needed more dev time so it’s getting released at some point next year
May all this arrive in 2023
The first 3 points and the last point are all Pve-related which took the devs a lot of time that's why it's delayed
@@THEGAEDN Yeah that does kinda make sense. Also I know people were impatient for OW2's release considering the first official trailer is nearly 3 years old, and I don't blame them one bit. However more development time can be a really good thing if they want the game to be designed just how they want, without certain flaws. And other than the missing things I mentioned in the first comment, I don't think they disappointed with OW2 in the slightest.
Edit: Oh and I almost forgot that the pandemic must've delayed a lot of it too, since it was still 2019 and no one saw it coming. And Jeff departing from the team.

What I fear is that they will become so greedy they will release it in the form of paid DLCs which will make all this waiting for nothing since they will probably charge us 30$ for it which negates the whole F2P thing they kept talking about

Loved when Pve released. Loved getting the skill trees and replaying the missions every day. oh wait.
I’m not gonna lie, it looks really really fun. But I’m just scared it’s gonna be like 7 missions, and that’s it for the story. Unless they’re really really big parts, long time, lots of plot and lore missions. I don’t want this to be a game you can complete in like two long sit downs, I hope for it to be very long and learning. Blizzard, I have a lot of hope in you. Please make it good.
Well they can probably add more over time if there isn’t too much at launch. That way they could slow down the release time between heroes so the roster doesn’t get too bogged down.

This is as much a gameplay trailer as it is a cinematic trailer.. Just because it has about 5 seconds of gameplay doesn't make it a gameplay trailer, it should be 100% gameplay.. Oh and I did the math and its about 11 seconds of actual gameplay, with the HUD, because nobody plays Overwatch without the HUD.

TL:DR the scale of PvE ballooned out of scale, and was the primary contributor to OW2 going quiet for so long/lack of new content on launch. Instead of continuing to delay the PvP for PvE's slow development, they chose to release the PvP separate and release PvE when it's ready.
This is never going to come out the original people who were working on this left. The new people who replaced them can't even balance the game or give out a decent patch what chance do they have at makeing a good pve mode

Honestly, this might be grounds for a class-action lawsuit. People were spending money on battle pass items under the pretense that they'd be usable on the PvE mode. This is likely millions of dollars that users would not have spent if not for the promise of said content. A good lawyer could make it so that Blizzard is legally obligated to either deliver that product or reimburse that money.

Here we are in 2023 and almost none of these things have happened in ow2.
We have gotten most of the things promised in this trailer. Even still PvE is this year, there is a reason why the game is phrased as early access.

Fighters like SF, Tekkan, DOA, all add in new chars, while redesigning old ones. Shooters reskin everything, mixe up the gear, add in new features, etc. If they expect us to purchase OW 2, then we should expect a brand new game.

I am sincerely disappointed from the very bottom of my heart.
The very unique and original characters of Overwatch, as well as the game's interesting and complex universe are exactly what got my interest in the first place, back in 2017.
After playing for 6 years straight, unfortunately, my interest in the game process went away, as I got burnt out by the game and it's lack of variety, leading me to decide to abandon Overwatch for a little while. That is, until the official release of Overwatch 2.
I cannot say if I am confident enough to say that the current second chapter of the game is better than the first one, but I know one thing for sure - the hype for the lore side of the game kept me engaged with everything there was to come.
Even though it is a luxury for us to get more in-depth lore on our favorite characters specifically, I think it is safe to say that we have always been very invested into any kind of cinematic or lore content on the game. In fact, after the incredible news that we would be able to get so much out of every character in the game made us very excited. I was more than happy - I will get to know my favorite characters better and I will be able to discover so much about them.
This is absolutely devastating. The incredible potential of the game is wasted. Everything promised is gone. Everything removed will return. What is this? What was the point in a second game then? Why call it "Overwatch 2", when in fact it is the same old Overwatch, but possibly even worse?
Every single one of the heroes has a soul for me. They were always holding a significant part of both my childhood and younghood.
I guess, I can thank you for all the memories you gifted us and say a final goodbye, because I think from this point the game will whether go downhill or just won't go in any direction.
