I saw Will Calhoun live in Scotland at a Zildjian Day back around 93, Vinnie, Will, Tony Williams, and a session drummer Franco (can't remember his name). Will Calhoun's solo was incredible, I remember just watching 'Wow'. Love the cymbals he's showing, great to see he has his own signature series.

his Pearl kit in the Cult of Personality song was off the hook , that bass was thumping and his snare was nice and tight

That's a common complaint with Sonor International. Derek Roddy and Thomas Lang left for the same reason.

It sounds like Mapex and Pearl run some of the better artist relations and perhaps customer relations for players. I've heard Sonor and Yamaha can be prickly at times.

I think the reason why his hi hat chick sound is like that is because his hi hat top tension is quite loose.
