I"m never gonna not love a behind the scenes with Kevin. Your squirrel brain did just fine. Looking forward to seeing the rig in action in November! (Also looking forward to seeing your face 🥰)
From Full Stop to this. With a little ETSU in between. Had fun jamming with you in that weird basement with Randy looking at us like we were crazy. Glad you're doing well, man!

John Aldridge is THE guy to hand scroll BB’s, and he took mine for a few months and went nuts. Typical scroll patterns are two and sometimes three layers/rows, this one he really went for it. Dense pattern.
It’s a damn beast. Basically a heavy head (Aquarian triple threat) on a deep wood drum tuned to medium low then totally dump the lug closest to you, with a roots eq ring on it. GUIUSHY
Awesome video! Thanks for the breakdown. Can I be annoying and ask you to break down the hardware/software used to control the click? I want to start using one with my band when we play live so our tempos are always spot on but I don’t know what my options are and that controller you’re using looks awesome and easy to use. Thanks man! Keep rocking and….smoke weed every day! 😂
“Your heart or mine” is a lot of fun right now. As far as cymbals go, the “best” one for any given moment changes constantly, but for a crash the safe bet is a med to med/light on the thinner side somewhere between 18-20” for most rock/country applications
Do you have a model for those 12” hats? I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing, but figured I’d have to slap some splashes together. Thanks man! Been watching your rig tours for years.
Shure just sent some, I’ll look at the model when see the rig again. I use the “triple tree” generics, and they sound so good I have two sets of JH Audio Roxanne’s sitting in a drawer.
It changes based on what FOH needs, even nightly if Jim decides to swap tom mics or whatever, but all are Shure products. Standard 52/91 combo on kick, 57's on snares, etc. Toms have been Beta181's and 98's with KSM's on the bigger toms, not sure what he'll use as OH/hats this year.
I argued against em for years because they certainly aren’t cheap gear, then I tried it and realized it was a bargain at twice the price. Never going back.
I did for a couple of years and it’s great as long as you have only one sound you need. I needed several to sound “right” or to at least help the artist be comfortable with what he heard.
I'll be fully transparent about that rather than play the political safety: When my original reps who signed me to Paiste in the 90's (Steve Riskin and Rich Magiacaro) moved on from the company the A%R was lacking for a long time until ultimately I had a rep try to force me into using one series exclusively, a beginner to mid series, and I bailed to Zildjian, happy to have a friendly rep. I was friends with the head guy at Sabian, but didn't want to play on our friendship or put him in a weird spot by asking. During the pan I took issue with some of the decisions of management at Z and when they fired that rep AND the dude who actually made all the cymbals I liked, I tried to reach the new rep and find a new friend, never heard back and figured that was good enough to split. My pal at Sabian and I chatted, I tried a few lines and fell in love with a ton of stuff, and now I'm happy as a clam. To me gear and relationships go hand in hand so I can't really embrace something if I am not friends with the reps! Seems like I jumped around, but I was forced into each change by a lack of connection at the companies, so I sought the friendships out. Thanks for watching!
@TheBigrightfoot I played a lot of different styles (ie Zildjian, Paiste, meinl, dream, and sabian). I have loved the complex series since they emerged! On a personal note, I've followed your drumming for years and always love your live videos as well as home studio videos.
I don't know what's cooler. The killer setup, The new electronics or the Levon Helm tee!
The 22 Legacy ride never gets old! I’ve been using mine for 20 years now.
Excellent! When I saw your pics on FB I was wondering about your use of the SPD-SX and other electronics. Great setup and playing is always on point!
Those Ludwigs sound amazing. Always enjoy your vids.! Thanks for the updated run thru of the kit.
Don't know who you are, but I dig the kit. Glad I clicked on the vid. Much love, brother.
Thanks!
Love the Gewa stuff! Gonna try their stuff out. Looks way better than trying to hit the tiny pads on a SPDSX in the dark hahah
Loved the walkthrough. The “honk” on that side snare, JEEZ. Really like your posts.

Love you A!
Sweet sounding kit !!
Nice bro, always a joy to hear you talk👊🏽
Thanks for the rundown!
T-shirt game on point!
Came for the drums, stayed for the Bear
Very cool, man! I hope to catch up with you guys in the Spring of 24!
8:57 yeah i would definetely add that 5th crash to the kit.

Thanks! Bear figured this out after I made the vid and for some reason ours has to have the battery out as well. Weird! Cheers!
Enjoyed the rundown
Such a beauty. 🙌🙌🙌🙌
keep the videos coming :)
Fucking sweet man!! 🤘

My man...🔥🔥🔥
Dig it. Can you explain what the quad scroll deal is with the snare?
John Aldridge is THE guy to hand scroll BB’s, and he took mine for a few months and went nuts. Typical scroll patterns are two and sometimes three layers/rows, this one he really went for it. Dense pattern.
That side snare oh my LORD

Yeah man that thing is Philly. The whole baseball bat on a wedding cake sound and I'm here for it

Not annoying at all. The SPD is just a control surface, firing ableton, in which are any loops, but mostly the click and pre recorded count offs.
Thanks for the response! Much appreciated.

Gotta luv bottom end that blows out the mic
Kevin what’s your favorite song to play with Jon Pari? And what is the best crash cymbal to use while playing the drums?

I don’t at the moment, I’ll try to remember when I see the kit Friday!
@@TheBigrightfootI appreciate it brother!
I still have the two pair of drumsticks you gave me the last time we met in person and are you still using vater west slide Drumsticks?
Mostly, trying new stuff here and there
@@TheBigrightfoot this is my RUclips drum channel check it out and is your name on your drumsticks?

Awesome shout out to Todd Sucherman.
I mean, he’s one of the greatest living players and his ride is exceptional. Todd deserves every speck of praise he gets!
So I have a question.... Can you still play Angel of Death in combat boots? 🤔 (Guess who..!)
Hughes?! I doubt it but I’ll try!
@@TheBigrightfoot Winner, winner.. Just having the boots still would be impressive! 😂 Well done my friend...

@TheBigrightfoot yeah it's crazy fun now that I rout snare, toms and kick through it..makes every gig a blast
Why don't use a 13x3 side snare?
I did for a couple of years and it’s great as long as you have only one sound you need. I needed several to sound “right” or to at least help the artist be comfortable with what he heard.
you used to be all paiste....why the switch?
