- The new Lamborghini Revuelto has just touched down (because it is a spaceship, not a car) in the UK, so what would you do with it? Take it for a good thrash, to make full use of its 6.5-litre V12, which is hybrid-assisted to over 1000bhp? Instead, we thought we’d take a different approach, as this is a revolutionary Raging Bull. It is, after all, Lamborghini’s first plug-in hybrid, meaning it can travel a few silent miles on e-power alone, and there are finally sensible seats and a sensible gearbox too.
So, if it’s been tamed to such an extent, surely Top Gear Magazine’s Head of Car Testing, Ollie Marriage, won’t have any trouble passing a driving test in one…

at those speeds they are pretty much the same thing with normal brakes as long as you have the same tires and weight
Pretty much every modern car has brakes that can lock a wheel. The tyres matter a lot more.
(This goes out the window if you've been doing laps of a track on slicks and your rotors are already red hot)
Carbon ceramics and carbon carbon simply have less fade.

License test in UK is not a joke, good for you! Here in Italy they test traffic skills, behavioral rules (giving way correctly etc), parking and reverse, but nothing on the car itself. We miss the checking of knowledge about controls and functions like demister etc.
Driving tests are too easy. I passed first time. Nobody checks mirrors

i wish it was like that here in the us ,FL i swear to god my test took 12 mins i went around the block a few times bust a three point turn and thats it i was shocked when the instructor told me to already pull in i had passed. its no wonder everybody in fl sucks at driving they give that shi to anyone

The United States needs to up the time on being able to pass the driving test because it literally only takes you like 5 minutes to get through the whole test
Yeah. I agree. That is one area where I think we could do with a more involved test. Like, maybe less nerve-wracking where you’re scared of failing the whole time, but more demanding in terms of various real-world skills and scenarios.

A proof of that is that here in Spain my American driver's license means nothing after 6 months of living here. I have to start over like a new driver, starting with signing up at a driving school, taking the written test and pretty soon I'll be taking my driving exam!

Love the last scene. While you was dreaming about revving a Lambo, the driver instructors told you that you have failed. It is true that driving tests are not easy, especially in the UK.
If my driving instructor looked like that, I'd fail on purpose to keep taking lessons

I have got to say I hate new top gear as I grew up with og top gear, but this really brought me back to the old top gear days. KEEP IT UP :)
Very sensible to test knowledge on vehicle functionality and equipment operation. Probably why we don’t do it in Australia.

how come utube topgear is better than actual top gear tv show (after trois)
I think the tv team after the CHM leave has been run by a mix of several inexperienced people (in making a car based tv program) that come and go, so it's all over the place and trying to jump the shark higher and higher. While this channel is run by the magazine team, which are already experienced in writing stuff about cars even before the CHM leave. I would say though the modesty of this channel looks kinda boring sometimes but because it has been written mainly for petrolheads, while the tv version has been made to please a much wider audience, hence the wild stuff they do.
Quick question but what are the buttons behind the steering wheel for ?
I assume navigating the infotainment system being laid out like a d-pad?

I never been a fan of Aventador's ISR gearbox, so the new eight-speed dual clutch 'box in this new Revuelto is a massive improvement. I don't see any jerkiness from it. It's silky smooth on low speed.

I seem to remember someone doing this on a TV show in a Countach many years ago. If I remember correctly the result was that sitting on the still to reverse was ok, but it wasn't actually possible to pass because you couldn't 'demonstrate proper use of the gearbox' at driving test speeds.
You know the student is a real knob when he shows up in a 1000hp Lambo Revuelto and then proceeds to take the test exclusively in the electric mode. Might have brought a Fiat 500 EV instead. Funny premise though.
If you really want to test emergency stops, drive anywhere in Cornwall on one of the 1-lane 2-way roads and see a car coming at you around a curve. 5:44

I took my test in a four door 73 gran sedan fury. At 220 inches long I was nervous that I would have to parallel park it. I practiced for a full year parking it twice a day. During my test I was told to parrellel park it at the end of the test in front of the facility where the waiting room could see my struggle. After we went inside the instructor told me that if I had failed up to that point that the parking test would have been considered extra credit but that I did an excellent job parking and didn't need it anyway. No parking assist back then.

At some point in the ""fun"" part of of topgear, team health and safety jumped in and I remember back then when for every 15-30m minutes of topgear there had to be 15-30 miniutes minimum of driving health and safety ads and speed kills ads ... this video brings back that vibe...

In the magazine article, he mentions that this was one of three majors that failed him (others were for missing a speed limit change and failing to check passanger mirror while reversing)

Maybe you should make video about the disgraceful shambles that is the UK driving test state, that might be worth watching.
It's honestly weird to see a big orange lambo not shouting at all when it's prowling around at low speeds.
That said, the electric mode humming sounds quite "big", unlike Toyota's "futuristic" humm.
I wish the test was like this here in California. Too many ignorant people are passing the current driving test.

That oil level question could be dificult in a bmw seeinnas they have no dipstick or an ev lol
It stil is as it's dry sump. Oil should be measured directly afer a drive, before the level drops again.
The dream segment at the end shows the car accelerating to 60 mph and neatly cuts the scene at that point, but the sound continues to accelerate. That would be the speed limit of the road in the next shot.
6:30 didnt check blind spots when pulling away. Thats a major and a fail right?
In my country, for the reverse parking test, the officer asked me to turn the reverse sensor off! no assistance. But I am fascinated that driving license test in the UK has an officer sits in the car and has testing procedures to follow on the real road. When I went for the test I just drove in the testing ground, not a real road.

Don’t you have to indicate before leaving a parking spot in the UK? In Germany you absolutely must.

It has not been possible to drive up with your own car in Norway. Only via a driving school. Volvo 144....was the car I pat the test in.
