@@jayhiggins5239 - I collect older trucks. You have to go back to the 60s for the front seat space to be comparable, but as for size, the mid size trucks have never actually been as large as any of the full size trucks. Capabilities are another story, of course unless it’s the volume they can haul. Again, you have to go back to when all you could get was a stepside bed. My 29 Ford Model A pickup is about the size of a midsize truck with a much smaller interior!! 😂😂. It’s much faster though!! Hahaha.
I saw a Ranger in a large dealership showroom about a year ago, and it seemed larger than the full size 1979 Ford truck I drove back in high school. The Ranger was more powerful, more fuel efficient, safer, but also much harder to do maintenance on by yourself.
I think what would look SSSOOOO much better would be a granite look bedliner with red, black, and grey. You could also wrap the entire truck with matte black (to cut down on reflections) and add what ever TFL logos and accents you want. Then when you sell it, remove the wrap, if desired, and have factory fresh paint with little or no scratches because the wrap protects it.

2021 Ranger XLT FX4 here. Love this truck. Will be awesome seeing what you do to yours. Payload and towing numbers drew me in and the engine keeps me here.
Red bed liner might not look all that great but you could put the TFL logo on the bulkhead side of the bed. What else I think would look cool is to do the red accent vinyl striping along certain areas of the truck to show off the design features. You could go a step further and have the red TFL logo in certain areas along the vinyl that would be flanked on either side by a black and red dithering.
Nice looking truck! I don’t know about the red bed liner… specially since you probably are going to sell it in about a year… I would say go to a designer and create a TFL livery maybe a Baja inspired livery that would look killer!!! Happy holidays and congrats on the new truck!

Love autotempest/search tempest, been using them for over 5 years at least. Helped me find many good vehicles. The Ranger pick was great. Maybe you guys could invite 4wd 24/7 out of AUS to help you build it with some accessories
I've had an identical truck (except it is white). Only minor complaints - arm rest could extend further forward, top of door card could be padded. But you will never see 24mpg, not even close. The best I've gotten is 21.2 with it completely empty, tonneau closed, cruise control set to 65mph, and premium fuel. I think the AT tiress on the FX4 and Tremor are to blame, perhaps without FX4 it would get better fuel efficiency.
Bought a 2020 Ranger Lariat crew 4x4. I have put 28k on it from new with only one small issue. An occasional chirping drive shaft carrier bearing. I get 24-25 mpg highway, 19.5 -21 around town, and 11.5 mpg towing a 6'x12' extra hight cargo trailer loaded with approximately 1000 lbs. I added a set of Airlift 5000 airbags (easy DIY instal). I absolutely love this Ranger. If you don't need the capability of a full size this is worth a hard look. Biggest complaint is the small 18 gallon fuel tank, especially when towing.
Red spinner hubcaps with red hood scoop and red underglow. Or leave it alone and save some resale value on top of what you won't spend doing any "red". Even a red bedliner might not end up looking great and you're stuck.
I love mine. It’s not for every use but for me it’s great as it’s grippy, easily cleaned and has some cushion so automotive parts or tools I throw in the back don’t make any sound while potentially bouncing around.
Red racing stripes down the center of the truck, from the hood, over the roof, and through the bed would look cool. Have a bedliner company do a custom job for you of a black bedliner with red racing stripes. Then red tow hooks and red black calipers would be the finishing touches.
I just ordered a 2023 Ranger Lariat Tremor. I test drove one and loved it. I think the red bed-liner would be cool but would be concerned of how it would look later once used and sun faded
LineX has an option for an additive that doesn’t sun fade & since it’s colored throughout (not painted) the rare scratch (stuff is hard to scratch) doesn’t show a different color.
My daughter bought from a local dealer a forester with 365 miles and its a 2019. Lady bought and literally never drove. The original little old lady car. Amazing deal.
Maybe instead of a red box liner you could look at doing a modern version of the Free Wheeling graphics that found on the old F-100, F-150’s and Broncos in 1978 and 1979. Some orange, red and Yellow stripes, Tremor grill with the red inserts and of course red tow hooks. You should look at doing the Katzkin leather seats. You could do those in red, it would look pretty awesome with the black exterior and Free Wheeling graphics.
As far as normal trim levels of midsize trucks the ranger is definitely my favorite. Good power for a four cylinder. Excellent towing and payload. Exterior looks good. Interior is a bit dated but the new one is fixing that.
I bought my brand new 2021 Ranger 4x4 supercab in shadow black with STX special appearance pkg, tow pkg, bed liner and privacy glass for only 33k. Times have changed and prices have spiked. Glad I bought it when I did. I have loved this truck ever since!
I'm excited you guys will be testing a Ranger! I own one and am very interested to see how it does under you guys testing. Does this truck have the towing pkg?
Looking forward to the videos on this truck! A few months ago, I bought a 2019 Ranger XLT with 12.5K miles. I paid about $37K and the original sticker (in 2019) was $39K. In ordinary times, I'd say I got screwed, but prices for used vehicles are crazy and obtaining a new vehicle is next to impossible. I was going to hang on to my Mazda CX-5 for another 200K miles until it was destroyed in an accident, forcing me into the market.
For the red accents, I strongly recommend talking to the Guys at Dip Your Car. Its a durable, cost effective, non permanent coating you can put on the truck that you can easily remove when it comes time to trade it in on the next long term review vehicle. I covered my new to me 2015 F150 with clear dip as a ppf, and then ceramic coated that. And it’s amazing, road grim just slides right off.
I ordered my diesel Ranger Raptor A year ago and I might get it in February. The dealers here in Europa aren't as aggressiv with pricing as they are over in the states with new cars. Used car prices are crazy though. Congrats on your new Ranger. Go for a tasteful two tone look. Bottom red until the beltline and leave the top black. I can’t wait to see what you guys think of the next gen Ranger. The Aussies love it.
We bought my grandparents a 2019 xlt ranger in 2020 with 50 miles on it for 33-34k otd. it was sitting in the showroom for about a 1yr & msrp was 38k. The only thing that I would watch out for on the 2019s is that the early production 19s had problems with the heater box/hvac box failing & requiring the dash to be removed to replace it, which can be pretty expensive to replace out of warranty (there is a SSM out for it per ford). luckily for my grandparents is that I work at a ford dealer, the truck was under warranty still & it was before the parts shortage got serious. other than that its been a great truck & has been problem free since.
It’s fair-I got a base Ford Ranger XL RWD for 26k with taxes out the door prices is 29k in 2019. It was just before the crazy Covid prices. I drove it for almost a year and sold it for 30k! Actually made money on it. The seats were stiff and has no lumbar support but wow that engine is much zippier than my current Tacoma 4WD. I like my Tacoma more mainly bc of off-roading but I remember test driving the Ford Tremor as well. It was amazing. It comes down to the community and after market support and Tacoma win hands down.
LOL back to the Ranger. I love my 2021 Ranger. Perfect size, excellent transmission, excellent payload. The interior is a bit lame but hey it’s a truck at a relatively reasonable price.
A red spray-in bed liner would be great on that black Ranger bed. I say get a big TFL logo on the sides, the hood and the tail gate. Maybe even a TFL logo on the roof.
This is crazy! I bought a 2020 brand new a few years ago it was a Lariat, FX4 and it was $34,000. I understand the car market is crazy but wow this hit home for me!
Color scheme suggestion, red "A" pillars, roof, and bed liner, white accents mid body, and red rockers or guards. Maybe even through in the TFL colors under the driver's side headlight for that little extra touch.
My advice is, don’t do a red bed liner because it will make the truck hard to sell later, unless it a has a tonneau cover to hide it. As for red accents, tow hooks, pinstripes and even the TFL Trucks logos could work.
I want to see some kind of tests or comparisons between this Ranger and the stubby Ram. Paid close to the same price for the two, so let’s see the differences in what mid 30k price points can get you.
Gen 5 ranger is the best entry to the mid size market ford could’ve made when they did it. Next generation will bring it back to segment sales leading.
I bought my 19 xlt 4x4 ranger for 30k. It was still brand new but on the lot in 2020. Had 90 miles on it. Since then the local prices have increased by 15-20k.
Congrats!! I like the look of the Ranger! I think adding some nice red racing strips over the top will make it look cool and stand out in your videos. I think it will make some what easier to see on camera. I don’t know about the ideal of a red bed liner. I know I seen people do some weird bed liner colors.
Nice choice. I had a loaded 2003 Ford Ranger FX4 in bright blue, and I put red accents on it - pin striping & vinyl side graphics - looked killer. Had it for 13 years/100,000 miles & loved it!
We aren’t talking about a piece of shit 20 year old ranger that you spray painted this is a 40 thousand dollar truck 😂😂😂 no idea why you’re rambling on ab your 20 year old shit box. There’s no comparison
Back in September, I bought a 21 Ranger Lariat FX4 midnight with 4,200 miles. I now have a little over 18,000 miles on it now, and it's been flawless back and forth across the country. Have only seen 20.8 mpg. The truck really sucks fuel going over 75. Can't wait to see how it stands up to the abuse y'all are going to throw at it!
Love my 2019 Ranger XLT! Peppy, great in the snow and practical. It's also fuel efficient for a truck. I've been getting a combined 25MPG on summer blend gas, about 24MPG with the winter blend. Red Bed Liner and maybe old fashioned red racing stripes would help set it off (instead of pin stripes).
I think it would be really neat to see someone try to attempt a multi color spray in bedliner, so say mostly black spray in liner with some sprayed in red accents or logo. Can’t imagine someone hasn’t tried it already.
Man, I love my 20’ Lariat Ranger 4x4. I paid 34k for it. I feel you guys paid a bit high for a XL even though the mileage is low, but at the end of the day, if you use it the way you want and feel you got your money’s worth out of it, who cares?
Glad to see that y’all got the XL FX4. People don’t seem to understand how much you get with the FX4 alone! Especially compared to other brands that force you to go high end for a locker. Can’t wait to see if bigger ATs on this thing too. I love the KO2s but what if y’all do a mud terrain? KM3 or something different and new?
I’m sure you guys gave this a thorough going over regarding Carfax and overspray from any bodywork as this low a mileage could often mean repair time in a shop. Good find, as used truck prices are insane right now. Red accents, good idea. Perhaps red caliper covers? Also sidebar: your music mixer is a bit too enthusiastic regarding level. Opinion from a lifetime music professional……..want to hear the dialog most of all.
I work in public lands, and in my last job we had a base model tradesman ram (quad cab, but pretty similar spec to TFL truck's new Ram) and at my new job we just got 4WD rangers (although not FX4). Pretty fun seeing my work trucks entering your fleet.
Great video and nice Ranger! seems a little pricey, however in this crazy market we all live in you all did great! Looking forward to seeing more of this ranger on your reviews
Mod number 1 should be the Ford Performance Tune. It's covered under warranty too! Like 45 HP and 90 lb ft gains! I had a 2021 XLT 4WD, but dumped it because the interior and certain other aspects just felt lacking and "old". The ride quality in the Sport was super floaty too. Got a 2021 Trail Edition Tacoma afterwards. I do miss the Ranger though. I preferred the Ecoboost, more low end torque and better MPGs (especially highway) than the V6 Taco. Also had a locking diff without being an off-road dedicated model, and the payload capacity was over 500+lbs more (1540 vs 990). I plan to dump the Taco for the new Gen Ranger if Ford will quit dragging their feet for the US.
A red bed liner would be stunningly bad in my humble opinion. Maybe, just maybe, you could pull off a dark red. Bright red would look like a Hotwheels toy truck.
I bought a used xlt ranger extended cab with 30k for 11k. Drove it for 5 years and traded it to the dealership with 130k for 6k. Had the 3.0l motor and was fun to drive. Only had to do oil changes brakes and tires.
The red bedliner idea is kinda awesome. If you look at the Roush Ranger and the graphics they add to the hood and rocker panels i think it would be a good inspiration for doing red accents.

I’ve had my New XLT Tremor since October and already have 5500 miles on it. That truck is brand new!
Love my ranger glad to see y’all will have some ranger content to each.
I bought my brand new 2021 Ranger 4x4 supercab in shadow black with STX special appearance pkg, tow pkg, bed liner and privacy glass for only 33k. Times have changed and prices have spiked. Glad I bought it when I did. I have loved this truck ever since!
Don’t do a red bedliner. Red accents are for sport models. Just wrap it a fun different color.
Maybe skip the background music next time. It was a little hard to hear what was being talked about. Just a suggestion 🤷♂️
Do it!!! Red bed liner, red wheels, red tow hooks, red accents everywhere and call it Midnight Rage.
Sold my 2020 Tacoma and bought a ranger the power difference is insane. Never had a single issue. 54k and counting
3:16 that is one nice Ford Ranger, haven’t even seen the video it’s NICE
That blacked out Ford Ranger is one sexy truck.
I have a 2019 Lariat FX4 Ranger, black as well. SO EXCITED THAT YOU GUYS BOUGHT THIS GEM!!
Gold pinstriping, red bed liner and an air brushed mural of the TFL gang on the tailgate. She would really pop.
The main host sounds and looks just like Alan Thicke from growing pains. Very sincere
Midnight Max!! Iv never seen a black Ranger yet..it's real sharp!! Tht place we're your at.. seems to have over a Ton of trucks for sale...Tons!!
In addition to the red bed liner, wrap the hood and roof in red (with the TFL logo also on the red wrapped hood).
XL/STX, everything you need and nothing you don’t. Only thing on my XL I wish I had is heated mirrors.
My advice is, don’t do a red bed liner because it will make the truck hard to sell later, unless it a has a tonneau cover to hide it. As for red accents, tow hooks, pinstripes and even the TFL Trucks logos could work.
Red accents would be cool! Please do a video about headlight replacements. The standard lights are super dim to me.
No red bed liner! I think accents of red and grey would be great. Excited to see this truck!
Depends on how much you want to spend. Stealth matte ppf on black gloss looks great and would pop on camera more. adds protection as well
I want to see some kind of tests or comparisons between this Ranger and the stubby Ram. Paid close to the same price for the two, so let’s see the differences in what mid 30k price points can get you.
Gen 5 ranger is the best entry to the mid size market ford could’ve made when they did it. Next generation will bring it back to segment sales leading.
If you are going to wrap It, do It on orange or acid green
Love that y’all went with a ranger for midsize 🔥🔥
Love my 2019 Ranger XLT! Peppy, great in the snow and practical. It's also fuel efficient for a truck. I've been getting a combined 25MPG on summer blend gas, about 24MPG with the winter blend. Red Bed Liner and maybe old fashioned red racing stripes would help set it off (instead of pin stripes).
I was waiting for autotempest to become a sponsor. It will be a great tool when you do the series comparing 3 similar vehicles
I think it would be really neat to see someone try to attempt a multi color spray in bedliner, so say mostly black spray in liner with some sprayed in red accents or logo. Can’t imagine someone hasn’t tried it already.
I love the simple basic truck way less to go wrong and does
Not have all that fancy tech.
Love the red accents and bed liner idea.
Awesome truck by the way Boys. 🇮🇪☘️🇺🇸🛷🎄🧑🎄
You can get e locker without fx4
@@Kodazot I know and I’m RWD
Red bedliner with red STX decals on side of bed and something along the lines of a red flat decal on hood.
Red bed liner, then a red hood decal, red roof and tail gate stripes with red lug nuts on the wheels.
I wouldn't do a red bedliner, that would look almost as dumb as the carpeted liner 🤣🤣
Love the Ranger. Add a red bed liner with red racing strip down center. Or go extreme and add a red flame job😏
You guys should put big red flames down the sides!
I work in public lands, and in my last job we had a base model tradesman ram (quad cab, but pretty similar spec to TFL truck's new Ram) and at my new job we just got 4WD rangers (although not FX4). Pretty fun seeing my work trucks entering your fleet.
Good find on a hard to get truck. Great addition to the fleet.
I just bought my 2019 XLT fx4 in November 2022 with 13k miles for 33k so I’d say you bought fair in the market!
Thank you guys for your content, is very informative and entertaining!!! Happy Holidays!!!
A red bed liner would be stunningly bad in my humble opinion. Maybe, just maybe, you could pull off a dark red. Bright red would look like a Hotwheels toy truck.
I’m excited for this video series. I own a 2019 Ranger XLT fx4. I’m very happy with it so far. Hope you guys have a good experience.
I have a Ford Ranger XL 2021. It’s an awesome truck. $31,500 no markup.
I bought a used xlt ranger extended cab with 30k for 11k. Drove it for 5 years and traded it to the dealership with 130k for 6k.
Had the 3.0l motor and was fun to drive. Only had to do oil changes brakes and tires.
I’m soooo glad you guys got a Ranger the everyone truck
The red bedliner idea is kinda awesome. If you look at the Roush Ranger and the graphics they add to the hood and rocker panels i think it would be a good inspiration for doing red accents.
