      Ciera J you should try doing LCO instead of LOC. Oil locks in your products so the oil should be last. Doing oil before would cause the products to just sit on top of your hair.

    my mother used to force me to comb my hair every single day. When i did, it obviously broke and looked awful, so she'd scream at me for "looking like a which" and tell me i didn't comb it enough.... realizing how she forced me to do the wrong thing and then yelled at me for bad results is just making me so god damn angry right now... please, if your a parent whose kid has a different hair type then yours, try and get some info on it.

      Same story. I feel you. My mother and grandma used to be wavies 2a but straightened their hair and I was born with 3a hair. Elementary school was super frizzy due to the combing it on dry hair so one day my mother and gma decided to relax it without my consent and convinced me that it looked prettier. Two years after graduating i just started transitioning (I got 2 weeks after a big chop haha) and they still try to put me down saying that I'm ugly and I would look better with straight hair. I've decided to ignore the haters.

      yeah my mom had no idea what to do with my naturally curly hair and my dad never touched my hair and probably wouldn't know what to do either but he's the one who gave me my curly hair :/ so all the time I would have frizzy UN MOISTURIZED greasy hair (also because my mom got products that have sulfates, silicones, and parabens and put heavy oils in my hair and she doesn't understand why I need to put product in my hair now that I'm old enough and care about my hair she thinks its just a stage)

      @@sophiemartin3226 SAME my dad is the one who gave curly hair whilst my mum has straight hair, my dad doesn't know what to do with my hair,loool, so its always frizzy and growing up (still a kid) I've always used my mums products, that have sulfates and what not, but when I introduced curly hair products to my mum, she didn't know how to use it and just put it in my hair like it was an oil like it was nothing and brushed it DRY

    • @anabella1727
      @anabella1727 5 лет назад +16

      You're not alone. My mom would tell me I looked like I had greasy Mexican hair and if I'd just brush it everyday it wouldn't be so flat on my head and frizzy and curly everywhere else. She thought brushing it would make it soft and wavy. Lol straight hair mom fails. My mom is sweet but dang was she rude about my hair back in the day.

    I'm a curly girl for 51 years!! Still trying to get it right. This summer I'm learning to love my big, curly hair. Too hot to go straight. Enjoyed your video!

    I really hate my hair. It’s so frizzy and my hair doesn’t even have pretty curls anymore. My mum used to spend an hour trying to tame it when I was little but it didn’t work so she decided to braid my hair for most of Primary school. There even has been times when I thought about just cutting it all of but then I also really like long hair so I kept it. I was looking for loads of videos to tame my hair and I’m so glad I found this because my hair is less frizzy and I’m getting my curls back so thank you so much!

    Holy Grail for fighting frizz is Lube. Yes. You read that correctly. Lube. My favorite is water soluble glycerin free Sliquid. Second favorite is the CVS knock off of astroglide water soluble personal lubricant. Excellent at keeping frizz at bay.

    I don't wash my hair with shampoo. I use apple cider vinegar instead..and I use rose water for styling and taming frizz along with oils..And I'm fine girl ditch the products, it's gonna be rough at first but until you get rid of every last bit of chemicals in your hair you'll feel your hair thanking you for it by being nice and not frizzy at all and it would give you this curl definition you want without the need for styling products

    What do u do if you are following all the curl rules but are experiencing frizz, shedding and breakage at the crown ???!!!??? I have looked every where on you tube and I really don't want to big chop :(

    • @DuchessFatima
      @DuchessFatima 7 лет назад +3

      LaShonda Rodgers All the 'rules' may not be for you. Example, I don't rinse with cool water because it doesn't do anything for me. Are you handling your hair too often? Maybe a protein treatment every once in a while might help.

      I will try protein treatments! I haven't been consistent with them, I also have 3b curls so it's not too hard to manage. I just don't know if my hair will still grow with the damage. A stylist told me it could be the water in my city because I moved and that's when I started experiencing the breakage!

      maybe you need to adjust your diet because its also important what gets into your hair from the inside

    • @EtherealVibe

      Silicone also plays a role sometimes b/c it's a barrier so it don't allow products to truly penetrate in your hair. Like you'd have to use a sulfate shampoo to actually remove the silicone they say. It's also damaging and can cause build up so maybe pay attention to the ingredients in your products if you're not already doing so.

    I read somewhere that lack of moisture is the reason for frizz. It's probably best to invest in a good deep conditioner.

    I’ve been trying curly girl method lately and gone sulphate, silicone etc free for more than 6 months. My hair is extremely coarse, thick, voluminous, wavy- may be 2b curls , feels like hay, frizzy, poofy, dry, damaged, unmanageable........everything. I use coconut oil once every week or once every 2 weeks. Use Maui Shea butter shampoo, used Maui conditioner/ wow ACV deep mask, Shea black castor leave in, cantu curl activation cream..... use Argan oil to tame frizz..... I mean you name it and everything. Nothing works for my hair. Not just for CGM but I wanna use echo friendly products too for the environment, but it’s really not helping me :(. Deva curl is the only salon which apparently uses Good eco friendly products which are out of my budget. And I’m not sure if I can find any stylist who can style my hair without bad products. Does anyone have any suggestions to help fight this damaged hair problem? How many of you think I should go back to using silicones and the big brands like L’Oréal dove etc with bad ingredients in them which end of the day give salon like hair?

    I really needed to wash this video, because I did a wash & go last week Wednesday, and it was frizzy 3 days later, but my hair is maybe 3c with much 4a. I need help with my wash & goes (meaning a great technique), in order for my curls to look amazing for at least 5 days (i.e. shingling), Bianca! My coily curls did look amazing though for about 2 days, and I don't think the pineapple works for me when my hair is shrunken. I'm a inner perfectionist too, so I understand.

    Your product free hair looks a lot like mine, but I don't get those gorgeous spirals with just washing and styling. I have to individually twist them.

  • @littleminna

    You probably think I'm stupid but I used to think that others were just blessed with beautiful curls whereas mine were just ugly. I used to do all that, including the regular towel which I still do, since I'm just starting to learn things here. The only styling product I'd use was a curl mousse like Fructis or another drug store brand, which of course often contain alcohol. Silicone has always been my only anti frizz method, it was the only one I knew. Oh and since my curls were only nice and defined on day 1, I'm a 3a curls by the way, by the 2nd day it was either wash hair all over again or to avoid washing too often brush my hair, yes dry, which would give me huge volume. The only way to hide that was either a pony tail or a bun.
