For my tone, I modelled Machine Head's "Burn My Eyes" guitar tone in Bias Amp & Bias FX, so it's basically a heavily modded and processed 5150 tone.

I *may* re-do this one in future, stripping out the original guitars, using my Human tone match and replacing them with my own recordings, and who knows - I may even be able to play the bits I missed.

Those 20 or so takes were worth the effort because I didn't notice any sloppiness. One of my favourite Death songs.

Hey! Glad to see you still around! I hope you stay health and well and would you do "Out Of Touch" cover? It's really hard to find a cover for that song, I really like that unexpected tempo after the solos...
In Human Form, Perennial Quest and A Moment Of Clarity might be a good choice for a cover in the future
I can't leave until every single Death song is covered! That definitely includes Out Of Touch... although it's pretty late in the order I want to do each song in, but I will definitely do it!

Not sure why people think I nail the tone 🤔 The tone I'm using in this video is actually a tone match of Machine Head's "Burn My Eyes" 5150 tone. Maybe it's because the original guitars are playing underneath it? They blend well, either way.
The funny thing is, I have actually made a pretty close tone match of the tones from Human, ITP, Symbolic, and SBG. I'll definitely be posting videos using those in future!

I'd take anything from Spiritual Healing or Human any time!! As always, a great guitar tone that you're getting there. Lack of comprehension is one of my favourites! I'll probably never get to that level of playing no matter how much I practice 🙂 Instead, I'll always enjoy these songs from the great guitar players such as your self. 🤘🏼

And don't ever say you won't get to a certain level. I don't put in nearly the level of work that I could/should, but there's no point in setting an imaginary ceiling for yourself. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you enjoy it brother!

It's a VERY tough song. If you're finding it tricky to keep up, slow it down to a comfortable speed and gradually build it up bit by bit until you're at the original tempo. Then speed it up more so you're playing it even faster than the original. After practicing that a few times, slowing back down to the original will feel way more comfortable. Oldest trick in the book!

I learned to play mostly with just 3 fingers because I stopped getting lessons beyond playing chords and picked up a shit ton of bad habits. As far as I remember, Chuck didn't have much (if any) professional training either, so probably the same story in his case!
Whatever the case, don't see "having" to use your pinky as a problem. You're doing it the right way.

Thanks mate 🙏 I believe so, yes. I've never known Chuck to stray much outside of alternate picking (except pure-downpicking for certain riffs)

It's not customised at all! It's the Legacy edition model, bought straight from Thomann.de (sadly doesn't seem to be available anymore). There IS a logo on the headstock, it's just smaller and probably invisible in this video.

Great cover... but in the solo all make the same error in the minute 2:05.... This is not a complete scale.....but some fragments.....Chuck rarely used complete scales....

You know what, his style was so unique and so chaotic that I just have to be ok with never 100% nailing every single note he ever played. I would drive myself demented if I were to commit to such a task. Getting "close enough" will do me just fine.
@@DeathCovers You said it well. Unique and chaotic. Many guitarist thinks that Chuck was Malmsteen style. Chuck was great and Unique and he did not know music theory. Her sister said this to me. My cheers for Covers.......
@@iacopomosca5282 He always makes me think about something Paul Gilbert said in one of his instructional videos: something like "...and don't do that thing that many novice guitar players do where you just pick as fast as possible and move your fretting fingers completely out of sync". That's pretty much exactly what Chuck did, except he got really, really fucking good at it!

Oh man, getting back into playing after a hiatus is such an uphill climb, but it's totally doable. Just be consistent, try to practice every day, and make the practice sessions count.

@@DeathCovers It’s the Chuck model! I got it for just short of 2 grand on reverb. It’s in good condition, few scratches here and there, needs a knob, but it’s a total steal.

I wonder when BC Rich are gonna get the finger out and release the new line of Chuck models from the factory they promised a few years ago? At the moment the only ones that are available are the laughably overpriced custom shop models.

@@DeathCovers your solos are all in scale thats why when we play your tabs it makes us happy. No other tabs have a soul similar to what u make. I played all death tabs on ultimate none of them are as accurate as urs. we look forward to see more death covers. Especially the whole leprosy album.
@@Gold_fish608 thanks mate. I do put a lot of effort into them (which is mainly why my uploads are so sparse 😅). I’ve always been disappointed by the general quality of online tabs. Even worse is the quality of a lot of “official” tab books that they charge money for.

Do you always model your tones from 5150's?
Not really. I think I’ve only ever uploaded videos using two different tones and this is the only one that is.
I’ll be putting up videos in future (probably on my other channel) about how I make my tones.
What pedal effect did u use in the beginning
It's a clean tone in Bias FX 2. First pedal in the chain is a compressor, then a chorus, then the amp which is most likely modelling a Vox AC30.

I'm sorry 😢 Paul's just too insane of a player for me to copy, that's why I had to get Anarcissos to play his parts on our Vacant Planets cover.
As I progress through the discography there *will* be parts I'll have to forego, otherwise I just won't record them at all. But hopefully after I cross the finish line I can move on to learning the parts I missed, improving, and posting some more content on it.
How did you get that tone in bias fx like amps and pedals
On the surface it looks pretty basic. It's just a tube screamer into a "5150". I got the tone by using Bias Amp to amp match Machine Head's "Burn My Eyes". I'll post a video about it one of these days on my other channel, @TheBigBryanMurphy
