We just bought a used MKX for my son, and we were thinking it might be a good idea to have a third key. He IS 16, after all... A quick search for this video made me realize I do not need to go to the dealership. Thank you, sir!!
The fob I received had a dead battery so did not work (obviously) til I changed it and tried again. Just a heads up that the fob you buy may have been sitting and not to give up just over a failed attempt.
That should be something you can adjust in your vehicle settings with the buttons on the steering wheel. If you go into car setting or whatever (sorry I'm not in my mkx right now so I can't look to see exactly what the option is) you should be able to change your settings for the auto unlock. If you can't figure it out, let me know and I'll get in my car and do it myself so that I can give you step by step instructions to make it a little easier. Good luck
Probably to keep someone from borrowing your one key and then making another one when you’re not aware. Only the owner would have access to both keys so the car would recognize, “Hey, this must be the owner”. Hence forth, leave one at home. Don’t take both with you. Hope this helps you.
@@markmallory2528that actually makes a lot of sense. I'm super frustrated right now because I only was given one fob when I bought the car so now I'm screwed apparently because I need 2. Thought that was dumb as hell but it makes a lot more sense when you put it that way. Still frustrating as shit though lol
Awesome video. Had two, programmed one new one, poof! Tried to program another new one (since one of the old ones is pretty bad) and it didn't work. Is there a limit to the number of key fobs that I can program? Thank you!!!
My remote doesn't work is I watch how to put in in the center console and it started but does the remote stay in the car cuz mine didn't want to come out
A maximum of 4 smart keys can be programmed to the MKX at one time. That includes any smart keys that have ever been programmed to the vehicle, even if you no longer have them. You will need to have the old ones erased, this will require a Dealership or Automtive Locksmith
Hello, i had recently bought Mkx 2014 but one key )seems spare) only open the car remotely but do not have a remote start or can start the car unless it is inside that pit knowing that I have replaced its battery earlier so does it need relearning and how? thank you
@@PYR-Auto Actually i have had that car with this second key fob battery drained, so once i have changed the battery, the reomte start is not functional.
A 2008 MKX is different but you can still do it yourself if you have two working keys - once the key is cut. You can find those instructions here www.programyourremote.com/classified/2008-lincoln-mkx-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-9063.aspx
Hey I just got my 2011 lincoln mxk today, I only got 1 fob with the vehicle, when I got home I clicked the lock button one time and instead of locking my doors it opened my 2 front windows and my sunroof. The trunk button doesn't work at all just makes the lights blink and when I clicked the unlock button it doesn't seem to unlock until I try to open the door. To lock it I had to physically push the lock button on the inside of the door before closing :( what should I do is it an easy fix or should I call someone ?
So I only had one remote. Bought two more. Took one to the stealership and had it programmed. Came home and tried to program the third and nothing. Did not enter programming mode. Any idea why? I tried several times. Do I need two original to do this? Thanks
As long as you have two working keys this should work, they don't need to be the originals the car came with. The stop/start button can be kind of difficult to see blinking sometimes it doesn't look like its bilking at all. If you are unsuccessful, make sure to unlock and open and close the drivers door a few times to "reset" before trying again.
Ok so I put the programmed two keys on top of the dash above the instrument cluster and did as you suggested by physically opening and closing the drivers door several times. Went through the programming sequence with the new key in its designated place AND IT WORKED!!!!! Thank you for the tip!!!
This was awesome, unfortunately one of My fobs fell and no longer work. Can you please create a video how to stop the alarm from going off by itself on a 2013 Lincoln MKX … PLEASE! It’s getting redundant going to the windows turning off the alarm from waking up neighbors.
How can I reprogram my two fob? I put fresh battery in and it says no key dectected on both of them. I have a 2013 mkx model. Any assistance is great. Thanks.
Well first of all, a fob should not become un-program after changing the batteries, so there may be other issues, especially if they both stopped working at the same time. Secondly, you need two working fobs in order to be able to program an additional fob yourself. If you have no working fobs, it will requite a dealership or automotive locksmith.
I have this vehicle I just bought from a used dealership 2011 from what I'm reading and the manual it looks like I need a remote to turn on my amplifier do you know of any other way to do this?
A 2011 Lincoln MKZ should take a remote-head key. You can find those instructions here: www.programyourremote.com/classified/2011-lincoln-mkz-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-9432.aspx
No - a 2016 MX is a bit different. You can find the instructions for the 2016 here www.programyourremote.com/classified/2016-lincoln-mkx-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-9071.aspx

I don't want to add a new one. I changed my battery and it doesn't work anymore.
Will it work for a 2016, and 2017 MKX?

How do I program Lincoln MKC 2015 ECU

Good Tip
Can you tell me why my 2015 MKX won't unlock all my doors when I garb the drivers side door handle? It used to it only unlocks the drivers side.

Is it possible to do with only one already programmed remote?
No - unfortunately not
Probably to keep someone from borrowing your one key and then making another one when you’re not aware. Only the owner would have access to both keys so the car would recognize, “Hey, this must be the owner”. Hence forth, leave one at home. Don’t take both with you. Hope this helps you.

How come you have to have 2 working key fobs before you can add one?
2009 Lincoln mks 4door
Great help.
Great!
i only have one key and it its governed to 130.Can i use the same method to reprogram and get rid of the governed
I don't believe reprogramming the key will have any effect on the top speed governor
Awesome video. Had two, programmed one new one, poof! Tried to program another new one (since one of the old ones is pretty bad) and it didn't work. Is there a limit to the number of key fobs that I can program? Thank you!!!
I believe on these you are limited to 4

it only stays there to start/run then should come out
How do you overcome the message: max number of keys programmed?

it should not need to be re-prgorammed if it still works while in the transmitter pocket.

The alarm should not just go off for no reason, you may need to take the vehicle in to a dealer or mechanic to get it looked at

Where would my fob sit in my 2011 lincoln mkz to reprogram it I cant seem to find it
A 2011 Lincoln MKZ should take a remote-head key. You can find those instructions here: www.programyourremote.com/classified/2011-lincoln-mkz-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-9432.aspx
What if it doesn't work and I did everything like instructed?
Then there may be an issue with the vehicle or fob
will this programming process work with a aftermarket lincoln fob ?
It will as long as it has the same specs as the OEM fob
Where can i find the door factory code without the manual or having to go to the dealership?
Open the fuse panel under the left side kick plate and look at the sticker. It will have the door code.
There's a video of where to find it here ruclips.net/video/kHAFjyf7MOA/видео.html
Can this work on a 2016 mkx?

Wow I like s thank s
I had to actually start vehicle after start button was flashing. Then my remote finally programmed.
What happens if you only have one working key because the second one got stolen?
Then you will need locksmith or dealership to program an additional fob
I changed my battery and I need to reprogram an existing key. How do I do that? It’s been acting funny since I changed the battery
These fobs should not need to be re-programmed after just changing the fob battery
When you got up you switched the key
what do you mean?
