Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro Boxes LEAK! My Solution...

- I've been working on updating my Ford F-250 and adding some Overland equipment. Earlier this year I added the FrontRunner Slim Line Roof Rack and shortly after, I added 3 brand new Wolf Pack Pro boxes, also made by Front Runner. They are supposed to be waterproof, but... they're not. The leaking isn't bad but they do leak, so I found a solution to keep using them for storage, but also keep the water out. Let's take a look...

Nice setup Jason☝🏻
It sucks that the boxes designed for quick access leak and now you have to buy something else to put them in. I do like the roof rack setup though. Looking forward to what else you have planned.
Thanks Tom
You might try a thin coat of silicone grease on the gaskets; same grease used on spark plug boots.
What about Sugru?
Jason! Thanks for sharing the product and setup. 73 de K0WHW
Thanks Bill - we should do a video with your Victron setup some day.
@@UNPLUGD I’m game. I’ll have to clean up the spaghetti wires, but I have to do that anyway, lol
I would think the sruff from Down Under would be great. Wild and deep weather changes.
And pressure differences with the road trains in the outback,!
nice bag, is it long enough to hold the Gazelle Tent. ))roger beep((
Nah. But I have a waterproof bag for the Gazelle also.
@@UNPLUGD How does the Gazelle tent hold up to being stored on the roof? We just bought the large T8 and I'm thinking of getting that Gazelle storage bag for it to keep on the roof. I'm in the PNW, so water/rain is an issue. :)
Really bummed about the wolf packs leaking though, I was going to pull the trigger on 4 of them for the roof as well, but I'm seeing way too many reviews of them leaking. Was hoping to get 2 on each side then store the tent in between. I have no idea what else to look for now for roof storage, lol.
Haven't stored mine there
@@UNPLUGD We have our T8 now and the extra storage bag. The tent does fine on the roof, however I'm disappointed with the extra bag. It's suppose to be water resistant, but our tests the water gets straight through and puddles inside. For anyone else reading, don't buy the extra bag if you want to keep the tent dry. Instead we have applied some waterproofing to the bag and are also going to apply a wax coating to the bag to help it repel water.
I just put our T4 O Gazelle in our Thule roof box. When we flew we made sure to rent a 60/40 seat split to put it lengthwise in vehicle.
Shame they leak as with the added cost of the bag you are getting near the price of Hardigg or Peli Cargo cases.
Try testing it on a trip to the Island through a some of Houston's rain.
They've been there a time or 2
I've got 2 Wolf pack Pro boxes, and i don't think they leak, i believe that's condensation because they can't breath like peli cases.
Possibly but checking them after a rain is when I found them wet
Good luck on finding anything "waterproof"
That stinks that the boxes aren’t waterproof.
Put stuff in the 3 boxes you do not need during the trip.
Always

Thanks
Too much effort to get to a wolfpack if you need something daily. Must be easier way to waterproof. Maybe use plastic bag inside the wolfpack.
I'm going to try an entirely different solution soon
