I’ve heard that since the Covid shutdown which resulted in big time sales that the quality of most all manufacturers has fallen drastically. My thoughts are because they quickly ramped up with unqualified workers. Any way good luck with it.

What a hassle. This is exactly why I haven’t bought an RV. It’s not a horror story….its almost everyone’s story. Too many other options these days. They say the best day you get a boat is the day you buy it, and the day you sell it. RVs are no different.

2022,... Ahhh,it's a Covid build lol,... More of a Covid throw together ! So many people having so many problems with so many brands.

Unfortunately not a surprise. This is one of the big reasons why we changed our whole dealership model.

The reason the dealers won’t deal with warranty repair is the same two things the other techs ran into. They get screwed on the hours and the problems end up worse than they appear at first. We went through this years ago. Both a minor malfunctioning slide, and a roof that peeled off a high end fifth wheel because it was installed wrong pre-2020 and this was the song and dance back then also. There’s only about three major consumer grade manufacturers and they have something like twenty brands under them. They’re all made essentially the same in the same shops in Indiana. Do some research on that before the next purchase. The ones you want aren’t built in those shops. And they’re a year plus on back order all the time. But they’re built correctly. Have fun finding a new trailer. Don’t cry too much on the depreciation on that one. It’ll be big. Take the hit it’ll be cheaper. We sold ours four years in for other reasons but the reality was we could stay in a lot of really nice hotels for the price of the fiver. We liked taking it a few places but the work and maintenance and realizing we should have built a pole barn for it, made part of the decision for us. Get your cash out of that cardboard thing and run.

I will never by a slide out. Even the good ones are too much trouble in various weather conditions.

Can't say I blame you. The stuff coming out of Elkhart & Goshen is all garbage.

Slides are a weak link on travel trailers. At less than two years of age, mine stuck out and I did a wiring repair to get it back in, then the paneling around the slide started warping. Sold it, my next one won't have a slide.

iN MY OPINION Forest river has never been a good brand, I have been to the locations where these are built and they could care less about quality they are more concerned about quantities going out the door, best bet before buying any RV check with the service department of several dealers and ask them not the sales person who has the best warranty and best builds.

Just convert a 26ft box truck to your liking, the RV industry is and will always be, over priced flimsy garbage.

This makes a room at M6 look good.

never buy a rv with a slide out .me and my wife used to be avid campers and we have been too hundreds of campgrounds and we always have a bet as to anyone that is pulling up into a campsite that has a slideout if its gonna work or not .they always seem to have trouble with the slideout. we have friends that have slideouts on there rvs and they say they never have any trouble but this is the same friends who only go camping once a year ! we used our camper almost always twice a month.and was told by a close friend to not buy with a slideout and we always enjoyed our trips .

So I guess get in line with everybody else who is discovering that RV's are crap in general these days. 5 minutes searching on YT will tell you all that you need to know.

RVs are built like complete shit. The manufacturers don’t care. Most RV repair places are an absolute joke, they’re rejects from the lawnmower shop. Not all, but most. Anyone interested in getting an RV…..you better be willing and able to fix shit yourself or be independently wealthy to pay someone. Something will break on every single trip.

They didn't seal the bolts on the rear door on the toy hauler, so the water wicked on rotted everything to the point the door fell off. 2 grand to fix it properly or 2 grand for a door of the same quality. I chose option "A". Checked the spring bushings, they were some kind of plastic. No slides to contend with. Rotten roof less than a year from purchase. Jason, I feel your pain.

IMO, there are no quality RV manufacturers at this time. Spend $20k or $2M, the products are poorly designed,poorly built and poorly supported.

Slides are guaranteed to fail and LEAK.

Never buy a slide! All RVs are built with “light weight” materials. Structurally support a slide, NO.

yeah, slides in general just suck! i have a 2021 fsx260rt no slide. but TTs are all shit. I agree with TOP, build your own. I have pretty much upgraded everything I can in mine. and yeah, don’t look behind the distribution panel. 🙄

This is not an outlier experience. This is exactly what you should expect when you buy a new RV. We bought before COVID and the manufacturer reputations were already in the trash. Two companies were buying out all the manufacturers and destroying their reputations. That’s why we bought a trailer that was 7 years old. We’re full-timers that hang out with a lot of different RVers. We hear stories just like this over, and over, and over, and over….

Friends don't let friends buy schwintek slides! In all seriousness, I've had a few forest river products over the years and they have some of the same BS problems the rest of the broken RV industry has. I have had great luck with my Cedar Creek, which is on of the higher brands of FR. My worst camper was a keystone. I've also had the best luck with independent repair shops that aren't dealers.

We just traded our 2017 PrimeTime(Forest River) Tracer 3200BHT. It wasn’t great but I think since it was a pre-Covid model it was decent. We had two Shwin tech slides and one cable slide. You’re right that’s too big a slide for that type of motor. We’ve got a Grand Design Reflection 337RLS. I love it.

Sorry dude. My DD a few years ago revealed to me that FR is the bottom of the barrel in quality IMHO.

That slide out is way to big for a Schwintek. Should have been a Rack n Pinon. Had just about the same issue with a 2021 Forest River X-Lite 24RLXL and that slide out was only the dinette! It was not square and front would stick out 1/2 inch and rear was like 1.25 inches. It took 4 to 5 months to get that repaired, i got rid of it shortly after that and went for a 2022 Grand Design 260RB that has a larger slide like that but its on a rack n pinion system. The RV industry utterly amazes me how long they take to repair and do this that and meanwhile we get nothing for loss of use. Didn't know that you had this channel too. I've had other issues with Grand Design, they didn't hang the door right and had to get replaced, and we have a creaking floor. They replaced the door but couldn't do anything about the floor. We still love that floor plan I drag it out to Texas Semi Annually and down to Orange Beach, AL or one of the many Florida Gulf Coast beaches quite often. Maybe look into converting a cargo trailer into the ultimate Hunter/RV/HAM Shack on wheels. There are some nice ones done out there...73's KJ6MTJ

And the RV industry sits there and wonders why nobody wants to buy an RV or travel trailer anymore. There’s countless videos all over RUclips about almost every major brand and people that had to wait months for fixes. I’m sorry but when you spend a huge chunk on the travel trailer like this, it should come flawless.
