One of the better panel discussions. Still suffered from an apparent malaise of intellectualism with lots of diagnosis but little in the department of radical and invasive treatment for these cultural cancers. Strike out gentlemen, work up a sweat, admonish and exhort. Play the man! Be this era's Johnathan Edward's! Drive the flock to their knees in abject repentance! Play the man!

New in town, I visited a Protestant church where the Pastor spent 45 minutes "humbly" expounding on the brown streaks in his underwear...I walked out. I gave the simple gospel, with its absolutes, to a family member and they exclaimed, "I will never believe that!" I was speaking with a friend today who advocated speaking in tongues without an interpreter, and how she feels, and what works for her. I answered, "But God's Word says..." She will not speak to me on Spiritual matters again. At another church, I visited, a woman was teaching us how to breath. This is the new Protestantism: Don't speak against my yoga, my experience, how I feel, my clairvoyance, or my potluck Christian choices. It is so discouraging. It is difficult to find fellow Believers who believe God's Word and His authority and His glory.

The true church will never cave into the world.
The visible church will cave in but the invisible church will struggle through to the end.

And only God can determine who that is. Unless you claim to be God himself. That's why he says he will be judged with the same measure that you judge your brother. God do you save it and he was only a shepherd. God chooses who he will use not man. To assume that we know better than God is presumptuous and faulty.

Back in the 1960's I worked with a plumber that had attended a Seminary to become a pastor. He had to drop out to help his parents with the family business.
He told me there were so many people going to the Seminary to become pastor's because it was a good job, good benefits and if you could make it to a mega church you were set for life. Most people are followers, they don't read the Bible and they follow the pastor. We have a apostasy in the church and it's growing at a alarming rate. That can be looked at as sad but we know when apostasy grows Christ return is drawing near.

The church today accepts everything. We are being told to love the sinner and hate the sin. The church needs money from tithes so they'll accept anything.

The church should be fiercely countercultural whenever the moral values of the culture we live in conflict with biblical values.
But in areas that don't involve differences in moral values, we should be as much like our cultures as possible, so as to avoid putting unnecessary obstacles in the way of people contemplating becoming Christians.

  • @maxaplin4204

Burk Parsons says that never have we been in a time when the church is more worldly.
He is right that the church today is very worldly, although the amount of this varies greatly from country to country.
But I doubt he is right to say that the church has never been more worldly.
Throughout Christian history, devout Christians have constantly been saying the same.

If pastors are going to speak and teach to the common person in the pew, then the use of educated seminary language doesn’t work. It’s like speaking in tongs and having no one to interpret what is spoken.

This is the problem..critical race theory, social justice , police brutality..unfortunately the evangelicals have taking political sides..What we need to preach is the gospel of Jesus Christ, not what a political party is selling..Serious damaged has been done because of some of these speakers supported a political party, a political candidates..
The last speaker just nailed it..Teach authentic bible ..not sound bites, not politics

Do you have to have good behavior to go to Heaven?
The religious folks would say yes, that you can’t do xyz and get into Heaven, or you have to do xyz to get in.
The Bible says different, and you must trust the word of God over man. Man is fallible.
Here’s 5 scriptures that prove you are to simply BELIEVE in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus to be saved. He died to forgive 100% of your sins.
John 3:16 KJV: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
    John 6:47, KJV:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me hath everlasting life.
    John 3:36
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
    John 6:29
“Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the will of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
The Bible says that any man who adds to or subtracts from God’s Gospel is accursed. You need only to BELIEVE in Jesus to be saved as I’ve shown in the above scriptures.
    Galatians 1:8
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
Jesus washes you clean of ALL sins, so you become sinless in the eyes of God.

The greatest challenges facing the church today is the fact that Reformed Theology doesn't know what the Gospel is and because they don't know what the Gospel is they are unbiblical and when people see Reformed Theology is unbiblical they walk away, run away, fall away.

@E.T.H. I've even seen John deny that God is unchanging, even though its confirmed in Malachi. I don't think John is even a Christian - if he is then he's an individualist with some bad theology.
