A fault with the original suits was that the napalm canister were exposed meaning one stray bullet or flaming Zerg claw in the canister and you and your squad were worst the barbecue

I liked a lot of the SC1 voices over SC2, but I do have to say I love the SC2 Firebats. SC canon says Firebats are made up mainly of imprisoned pyromaniacs and the voice in SC2 reflects that really well. Super chilled out the entire time, even with their 'under attack' quote. Really well done.

Also, apparently the gas leaks a bit into the suit frequently so the Firebats are actually totally stoned out their mind.
Shame this one doesn't have the SC1 Firebat's King Of The Hill reference. That would have pushed it over to perfection.

I do think these units have different conditions and personalities in the lore.
@@sceerane8662for example, the firebat that you see in SC1 is a different person from this firebat but nonetheless they are still part of the same units as firebats.

This might be the one unit with profile quotes at least as badass as the first game version. I was really bummed he didn’t make it into the sc2 lineup, with Goliaths being next. 😣
Anything this guy says sounds badass, holy shit. He's right up there with Tychus on my list of witty characters, and Logan Cunningham on my list of sexy voices.
I feel like this is one of the few original units Blizzard did correctly from an aesthetic perspective, for many reasons.
His choice of quotes are unique from the original, although it would have been nice to see a throwback to the original, perhaps a reference to a certain BBQ, but they more than make up for it with these new original quotes.
Next, the voice is fantastic. It's a bit too deep for me, but to be honest the original Firebat's voice was rather plain. This new calm deep voice is a pleasant contrast to what you would expect a pyromaniac to sound like (see Hellbat/Hellion quotes).
Finally, the portrait, now obviously there have been technological advances since Starcraft 1, but this manages to keep the original design while also making it more realistic. Allow me to explain, you see, back in Starcraft 1 Firebat's had heads shaped like footballs or basketballs, rather round and oddly wide. the helmet of the new Firebat is actual about the shape you would expect it to be to accommodate such a head without having horribly illogical head shapes actually showing.
Well Done Blizzard, you neither copied the original nor made a monstrosity, you made something unique with this unit's aesthetic.
Yes, i completely agree, that is why the hellbat isn't quite good enough for a replacement.

Reason why I only play SC2 campaign, ugh I hated it when they didnt include firebats in skirmishes. SC2 died when they removed firebats in the game for me.
For co op missions as raynor I love having fire bats for supporting marines like marauders with medics, should you always do fire bats for co op missions pending what map it is
