Lore explains they experimented with weaponry on dropships for self defense, but opted against it for higher payload capacity. But apparently something that wasn't adapted into the game was the ability of passengers to fire from side doors or platforms mounted on the undercarriage.
@@erikestrada7470 and suddenly Emporer Mengsk retrofitted some shenanigans that allow Siege tanks to fire from a dropship while in siege mode. I call bs
@@HibiscusOrchid Well I'm just speaking in terms of why the manufacturers originally opted against including weaponry in the standard model of the Quantradyne APOD-33 Dropship, which was still the primary active infantry transport used at the time this was supposed to take place, and that was in favor of the space and weight saved without it. Customization options were available and there were many cases of commanders/crew retrofitting standard models of Dropship (among other equipment) to suit what they deemed more valuable. Interestingly enough, during the Brood War, upon learning that 37 percent of field deployed troops became casualties which required evacuation to the rear, Arcturus Mengsk himself ordered a redesign to the Quantradyne that would allow it to be capable of medical transport and evacuation in hot zones. This directly lead to the development of the G-226 medical transport, colloquially referred to as the Medivac we know today. (Sorry I know I'm a nerd but outside of actually reading the comics myself SC is my favorite lore)
dropships are meant mainly for carrying, not fighting. not even for fighting from the people inside. that's the role of gunships and other weaponized ships. it's risky to send dropships without support, so that's odd of them to do. maybe they were stretched thin.

I've watched this so many times, and just now noticed the goliath in the back left corner @4:31...I'm blind as hell!
This is so Starship Troopers!
Like the movies , ofc😅
This cinematic perfectly sums up every player of StarCraft
The Commander: The guy who spams powerful units and wastes resources
Lieutenant Haggs: The actual smart guy
Nova: The girl who is on the same team but is very sneaky with her plans against the opponent
Nova’s Team: A combination of simps and good buddies
The Zerg: MUST HAVE FLESSHHH!!! Also reality check
Forgot the FireBat: The guy who’s new to the game, and at least tries to help but is cut down in seconds
@@WolfTrooperRex And while he's holding the line, everybody bails out and he dies surrounded.

Blizzard were in danger of making a good game, thank god this didn't come out, we might have liked it.
That was back when they still gave a fuck, I think.
"Doomhammer and Lightbringer" I love the little references to their other IP..
What exactly happened here may i ask? What was the purple light and is that a hatchery ?
it's a rich vespene geyser they are purple
I remember reading Nova, the novel like more than 15 years ago. Man, the NOVA cussing was hilarious but if I would ever call something cringe, that was it.
12 years of a broken promise.
i never understand why dropships never have a method of self defence, like flares o automatized AA gun
(Sorry I know I'm a nerd but outside of actually reading the comics myself SC is my favorite lore)
dropships are meant mainly for carrying, not fighting. not even for fighting from the people inside. that's the role of gunships and other weaponized ships. it's risky to send dropships without support, so that's odd of them to do. maybe they were stretched thin.
that poor firebat tho
He tried
pretty good cinematic considering its age, face and lip animations are also pretty good
I am still holding back on buying a PS2 until this game comes out!
Fuck, what a missed opportunity this was and STILL is!
Ultra-Ling-Hydra vs Marine-Firebat with no medic, stim… GG Captain Buck
Twenty years ago, in a moment of madness, some genius blew the entire game budget on this promising trailer.
Twenty years later I am no longer sure Blizzard has the genius to deliver what they promised, even with a mad budget.
Is this how 40k 10th Edition begins?!?!?
Didn't know they had Ultra Marines in SC.
EA: Bad. But not as bad as Blizzard.
well EA (LA) plus petrogliph managed to bring a GOOD remaster
A possibly great game,...that we never got
EDIT: Imagine a Starship Trooper (ish) game were you got to fight a bunch of Zerg in FPS (or hell you are part a marine corp in the First Brood war but instead of behing in command you are; Boots on the ground and wait for instruction that be awesome (and also branch out starcraft univers)...
Again Very sad we didn`t get that game... it had good potential back then.
2:38 "real smooth". It cracks me up every time. 😀
Bad leadership, lack of tactical intel, terrible position, no real formation, troops not following orders, no real appropriate hardware for the enemy they actively are "hunting", and pilots with no escort that crash into EACH OTHER...
This army/marine corp deserves everything it got and more 🙄 seriously, the share stupidity of it all took me out of it lol
The game that never was :(
Twenty years ago, in a moment of promising genius, someone blew the entire budget on this mad trailer.
Twenty years later I am no longer sure Blizzard is genius enough to deliver what they promised, even with a mad budget.
Damn it!!! GGG would undo all humanitys threats with 3 SCVs and one or two man with gun.
I remember being really excited for this one
"WHERE"S OUR AIR SUPPORT????" *Marine Just Points Up*
Imagine if they remade this game now? Or if they made a Starcraft version of Battlefront...
I like that soviet on the shoulder with word meaning mercenary on old russian 😏
Back in time when I got new game trailers from Cd's included in pc magazines.....
the game that never was. i was feinding for this to come out.
C rank terran player moving his marines without scanning first or harassing with vultures or even building medics
I'll chip in and say that I prefer this power armor design to SC2's one. I always liked old SC power armor more, but this is a very good rendition, it's heavy, bulky, frankly a bit ridiculous and definitely stylized. Love how angular it is in all the right places while SC2's one is just... fukkn round everywhere, like those modern OS rounded icons.
I wonder if command and conquer renegade is still playable
I love Renegade, there is something called Renegade X, but my PC is too old for it.
We need you back Marines, we need the Camaraderie and GODDAMN WAR !!!
There are no other RTS games around, that come even close to StarCraft 2.
First time after many years i realice that this is like the dropside massacre from star ship troopers.
Two squads?! We're gonna kill SO MANY DRONES
When I first heard the voice of the Marine Captain and that he sounded like Thrall, I wondered if he was going to be a great leader like Thrall and was disappointed and annoyed that the captain was nothing like Thrall and sucked as a leader.
2:23
Meme potential with how they all just turn and look, I was thinking about something to put but couldn't find anything.
3:57 onward: "This is an ugly planet, it's a Zerg planet!"
Ok now we have more advanced PC's and game consoles give us StarCraft GHOST!
Imagine going back to 2002 or whatever and telling everyone there'd be an "Overwatch 2" before StarCraft: Ghost came out. "The fuck is Overwatch?" "A game that won't come for another 14 years."
All is missing that after few seconds of black screen at the end, voice of adjutant "Nuclear launch detected".
When you made 5 sets of marines, and just "A" on a certain map location with no care in the world...
Nova: Sorry, boys, I don't sit next to people who only do 6 dmg as default.
