i am 56 now got saved on the street in 1979 in 1988 i started doing and learning spiritual warfare and deliverance ministry these songs were my war songs, Petra, striper, white heart, carman rip, newsboys, jars of clay, i can go on and on. kept me going hard at the devil and of course the word of God and prayer. i still listen to them. here the thing the songs now adays got religious and the anointing had gone away in a lot of artists. keep the fire burning and don't let it go out.
It's so great to be once again be All Charged Up in my Spirit. Been in a very difficult bondage for far too long. I can feel the chains of this bondage weakening and falling off me, this time for real. I feel a revival in my heart. Praise Jesus!!!

I love these men of God! Their straight forward, God praising music helped me make it through while serving in the US Navy, back in 1983 to 1986. Thank you Petra! I really enjoy Louie's drumming. I played in a Church band for about 7 years I loved every minute of it! (Pleasanton, CA.)
This song (and all the songs on this album) brings back a lot of memories. I was at this concert in the early 90's in Akron,OH at the James A. Rhodes Arena. I will never forget it. Petra was always my favorite band when I was young.
This was an excellent choice as the first song on the album. It really does get you fired up for the rest of the songs. IMO, this is the 2nd-best album of the John Schlitt era (Beyond Belief is the best).

Canadianaja I am a fan of classic rock of any kind. I appreciate this music, because it fits my genre and music style very well and it sounds cool. Now, as far as my theological beliefs, I hold beliefs very similar to that of Marilyn Manson, and go to his music when I need lyrics that align with my beliefs. But, I grew up in a house with open minded Christians who have accepted me being an atheist. And, I'm an open minded atheist who accepts Christians. Now, I may question you, but I'm in no way going to judge you.
Paul Meier you're talking to a former Christian. I got out of it, because I saw just how terrible and controlling it was. If you knew me, you'd understand why I say that. I think you'll find that some of the most hardcore atheists were once Christians.
Paul Meier all I gotta say now is that since I am a citizen of the United States, I have my first amendment rights to freedom of religion. That also means that I have freedom from religion. If you have any more questions, refer to the first amendment of the constitution, which is in just about any US History book or you can look it up online.
I find your lack of honesty disturbing. Even of what you claim is correct, that does not mean freedom FROM religion is not a valid concept for some people.

i like this album by this band best even though i am an unbeliever.john is one great singer and louie on drums are just awesome.some day i hope to actually purchase this cd and meet john and louie to sighn it!
Lots of folks forget that this band was kinda the ultimate outlier at the time. Oh sure, there were talented musicians in the CCM scene at the time (still nobody better than Steven Curtis Chapman), but Petra didn't make friends in the Christian music industry, and didn't win anyone over in the mainstream denominations. A number of evangelical and fundamentalist sects were downright hostile. Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows comes to mind almost immediately as a track seething with barely-covered fury at the treatment of the dying world by the church, and a lot of church folks hated that. But the unchurched heard, listened, and decided to keep coming back for more. That was the biggest reason that Petra kept rocking out for over 33 years and almost 25 studio albums: to reach people that would otherwise have been unreachable. Sadly enough, while a lot of bands have sprung up saying that they want to be the next Petra, none of 'em have figured out that a new trail has to be blazed. For some, the industry got to 'em first and watered down the message, and still others fell apart over time. Still, I hold out the possibility that a rock band is forming somewhere that will take the airwaves by storm, calling out once again to people who aren't part of the church, never went to church, or never heard the Good News (y'know, come and follow this Jesus guy, and you're part of this Kingdom of Heaven). One day, it'll happen, I think.
Once again I am really missing the Christian Rock of yesterday . Why can't someone put a Classic Christian Rock Fest together ? Surely some of the old groups are still alive and willing to jam .

im so anti religion it isnt funny but i was given this album when i was 14 and fell in love with it (got stryper at the same time and loved them too!) used to rock this album while trading baseball cards with my best friend who just passed away recently....RIP chucky.
