    So I counted the tooth clicks on my matco vs cornwell and cornwell is advertised as 120 but its only has 90. unless they updated it. My Platinum is 72 teeth, the matco and cornwell are 90 . Icon are ordered as well. I will compare mountain and icon tooth clicks as well.

      @johnlagreca6288 It was more of a facetious question. I know it's still around. I mean, the entire rest of the world uses metric, except the old American curmudgeon guy. I bought the Platinum metric and SAE sets from my local truck parts supplier and can't get them warrantied. I was told that ATD will only warranty a "defective" tool, not a broken tool. The problem is that the ratchet mechanism breaks very easy. I have at least two wrenches that won't ratchet anymore.

This was like 15 years ago now, but they were the Mountain brand. I always broke the 13/15mm. He always had to order it to replace it, but he always did. FYI, Matco has changed or selected a new design to a regular ratchet selector style. Probably because of the old style switches would switch accidentally. I highly recommend every mechanic have this set and the 21/22, 24/25 set

      I can agree with that to a point. but for the average diy'er that wants a great tool at a great price, they may not see the usage that a pro or full time tech would see. in that event, its trial and error, buy the cheaper and put it to the test and as they fail, upgrade.

    I tried looking up mountain tools and ATD so if I ever had to warranty one of the tools I could contact them. I couldn't find any information for them online. I tried clicking on your Amazon or Walmart links and ATD tools doesn't sell it directly. The tools are being sold through a reseller. I tried reaching out to them and they advised me to warranty the tools to contact the seller directly. I have heard that these tools can potentially break if you put too much torque on them

    • @MasterTechLou
      @MasterTechLou  7 месяцев назад +1

      All tools can break with too much torque. This are not meant for torque they are meant for length. Atd does not sell directly you do have to find a seller. Thats the only tricky part.

    Lou thanks for this. I was literally looking at the Icon ones the other day and just could not justfiy these. I only wish they had a shallower head overall but they will work in tight spaces better than most any wrench. The only thing I found on par is some old Craftsman Skinny wrenches in SAE but they are old old, like from the 70's and not ratcheting. I never saw the point of them and they were in my dad's tool box, but then one day I got into a situation where I had to take a torque converter off a LS motor I could not spin over due to rust. Those things came in clutch and I could not believe they got the job done. Needless to say they are now in my toolbox, lol. I have been scouring the internet trying to find a metric set and these are the closest I have seen

      I agree. Im not scholar but I was taught the price was equal to what it takes to produce the item, overhead, package and ship. Plus the percentage of profit based on units sold as in qty 1 is higher price than qty of 10 units. So how can a tool truck that doesnt produce its own products come up with a price 300% markup higher , my only answer is because people are payin it. And these are in demand. My toolbox is filled with craftsman. Use the right tool for the right job and almost any brand will last you forever.
